  • Nissan Navara d40 (2005 - ) - Good idea or not? 13 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Been lurking for a while now. I'm looking to change my vehicle later in the year, and for a variety of reasons a slightly-used current model Nissan Navara (D40) appeals to me. However there seem to be some "issues" with this truck, highlighted on other websites (eg What Car? owners reviews), namely: 1. Reliability - there are an awful lot of reports of low-mileage clutch failures (I'd be buying an auto anyway), and problems with the rear axle.
  • 2015 Peugeot 308 1.6 BlueHDI - Judder - Clutch and DMF replaced under warranty 24 May 2018 (Forum)
I know you here of some horror stories with car manufacturers refusing these type of warranty claims on much newer and less used cars but I'll give Peugeot their due, their were no issues getting it approved.  I would also like to say a big well done and thank you to Robins and Day in Derby who's service has been nothing short of outstanding.
  • Irrelevant - Looking for advice and opinions. 11 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Contacting customer services again for the code, they didnt have access to it, but did confirm this unit had been exchanged under warranty. Reverting back to the unit I found also a cumulative mileage register which was almost double the actual mileage done by the car, which explains the incorrect setup. The faulty part had been replaced under Manufacturers Warranty with a used part, and at that not supplying all the facilities it is designed to give.
  • Ford S-MAX - EU Directive on using NON Manufacturers parts. 24 Oct 2013 (Forum)
This is because I used an independent engineer to carry out the last service for me. I went and saw the enginer, whom I have used since 1994. He stated that he used MANN filters and not manufacturers parts.
  • Reliably cheap 29 Jan 2021 (Forum)
But the big saving comes from not taking the expensive dealer finance and instead opting for the cheaper and more flexible bank loan. This saves the best part of £1200 in interest over a typical used car PCP deal at 9.9% APR. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202101218194893
  • Ford diesel engine needs replacing 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I would be interested if anyone can say how this can happen, since the car use to run perfectly and only Ford dealers have worked on the car. Has anyone else had this trouble? Information would be welcome.
  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 09-02-2019 Part 1 12 Feb 2019 (Forum)
It may well have been something that was overlooked on the MOT, but questioner had been driving the car for 6mth / 8000miles without error. If this were taken to court, I'd expect the garage to say the car was legal at the time of sale, (using MOT as evidence?) suggesting the DPF was tampered with afterwards.
  • Honda civic 1.4 inspire hatchback 2003 - Wear and Tear, Honda Happiness Guarantee and cover 11 Sep 2012 (Forum)
As a gesture of goodwill we can discount the price to £702.49 and will collect the car from you at no extra cost and leave you a courtesy car to use for a few days.  I have the Honda Happiness Guarantee and that lists that Manual gearbox is covered but only if a failure occurs, so what would you do?
  • Smart ForFour Softouch 1.3 2005 - Buying a Used Car 120miles Away - Fault Repair 17 Aug 2022 (Forum)
Also, due to the distance involved, were any mechanical faults to develop within the first 3 months of ownership, how would you look to address them? Would you want the car returned to yourselves for your preferred workshop to fix, or would you look to engage a business nearer to my location? Regards Stuart" "Hi  Thanks for your email the delivery will be extra £165 and the car comes with one month engine and gearbox warranty and if in case of any repairs the car need to come back to us in Birmingham for repairs Many thanks  Used Cars"
  • Fiat Qubo 1.3 Multijet 95 Trekking - Engine management warning light 24 Jan 2015 (Forum)
On collection I was told the problem was a faulty air temperature sensor and that I owed £250. I explained the car was still within warranty and the bill was then removed. Following this episode I have been reading in your columns of problems with the dpf in the Fiat 500 version and I have found myself driving up and down the A12 so that similar problems don't occur with the Qubo.
  • Peugeot 207 - Engine warning light 28 Oct 2014 (Forum)
We took the car to the main agent and after 2 hours of diagnostics the ECU fault codes were P1336 and P1340 but they didn't have a clue as to why, as the car was running perfectly. They contacted Peugeot Technical who advised that the error codes indicated a "misfire caused by short journy use" despite being told by the main agent that there was no misfire and  that the car was mainly used on fast journeys. The main agent  have reset the ECU and the engine management light is now working normally.
  • VW Golf - doors freezing shut 27 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I complained loudly to VW headquarters in Milton Keynes, and told them that I expected them to pay for a new gutter moulding to be fitted to my car. Although the car is technically out of warranty, I took the view that this was a blatant design fault in the vehicle. Do the generality of motorists arm themselves with buckets of warm water and de-icers every time they want to open the door of their car on a slightly frosty morning?
  • Skoda Octavia - Variable Servicing / Oil change 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Q: Would it be wise to do a  National Tyres Castrol Edge oil change now (£31.50 and 507.00 spec) or would it void my Approved Used Skoda warranty? Or is it  really fine to run two years on the same oil.   I'm sure I'd be looking at £100-ish for a main dealer oil change. Thanks
  • FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - 06 1.2 Electric Steering - possible fault. 13 Oct 2008 (Forum)
The steering works okay apart from this but as the car still has a year's dealer warranty left we want to get it fixed if it could be a problem. There are no warning lights on the dash, but this was definately not happening when we picked the car up. Does anyone know what is wrong with it (if anything).
  • Fiesta TDCI injectors 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)

  • Nissan Primera Radiator damage 7 Nov 2004 (Forum)
A friend with a 3 week old Primera found it losing coolant in a big way from the radiator. They are not car literate and were initially fobbed off by dealer with the line of, "stone damage, not covered by warranty....... happens regularly!" Well if it happens regularly it can only be a design fault, therefore should they go after dealer on 'fit for purpose'?
