Silverstone Classic Touring Car Race Evokes Blasts From the Past 10 Jul 2012 (News)
A grid of more than 40 Touring Car Racers from the Seventies to the Nineties including Ford Sierra RS500s have been confirmed for the Silverstone Classic from 20-22 July. The 40 Touring Car Racers will contest the double-headed Fujifilm Classic Touring Car Trophy races. 41 competitors have so far registered entries with ten different makes and 18 different models of car. -
KIA Develops 3 Alternative Ways to Go Green 28 Oct 2011 (News)
Towards the end of 2010, Kia was one of seven manufacturers to sign an agreement to make hydrogen fuel-cell (FCEV) vehicles commercially available by the middle of this decade. The car that is regarded as a panacea for a zero-emissions future - one that can make its own electricity on the move, cover long distances between refuelling and emit no CO 2 - is coming. Hydrogen cars are just one strand in Kia's alternative-fuel strategy, however. -

Abandoned E-type up for sale 8 Mar 2017 (News)
Worn paintwork reveals a colour change to white with the original Opalescent Blue showing through in some areas, as well as evidence of a replacement red bonnet. Despite missing some glass and the radiator, most of the car is original, including the steering wheel and dashboard - all covered in a generous layer of dust and detritus. Despite decades of neglect, the E-type makes an ideal restoration candidate. Harry Whale, classic car consigner at Classic Car Auctions, said, ‘These very early E-types are now highly collectible these days and this example will be a serious project, but one that could be very worthwhile. -
'Fashonista' Mercedes-Benz Pagoda to star at NEC 11 Nov 2015 (News)

Scrappage Orders Reach 154,927 12 Aug 2009 (News)
The additional data also reveal that on average, new cars bought under the scheme have CO2 emissions that are 25% lower than the cars scrapped. The average CO2 figure for scrapped cars is estimated to be at least 179 g/km, compared to a much lower 133.9 g/km emissions average for cars bought through the scheme. -

Homologation MG Metro 6R4 for sale at auction 14 Dec 2018 (News)
A 1985 MG Metro 6R4 is going under the hammer offered at Silverstone Auctions’ debut sale at Autosport International on 12 January at the NEC, Birmingham. One of only 200 cars built, this homologation rally special was purchased by the marketing department of Williams Grand Prix Engineering in 1988. Today, having covered 175 miles, the 6R4 is estimated at £180,000 to £200,000. -

Next, participants learn about manoeuvres, such as reversing around a corner or turning in the road. The final stage involves combining all of the skills learned so far. We hopped in a car with Charlotte, a 15-year-old who’d spent all of 10 minutes behind the wheel before, and quietly watched as she was taught to do a slow reverse slalom and various other manoeuvres. What impressed most was the relaxed approach – on the road driving lessons are usually pre-booked, so covering everything in an hour long window can be a struggle, particularly when there’s traffic everywhere. -
