• Volkswagen Golf - Golf Mk7 Cooling Fan - problem? 4 Mar 2014 (Forum)
   The car itself drives well with no issues and she is happy with it but I noticed the other evening that, after shutting the engine down, the cooling fan is on for what seems like a long time.  I have only noticed it once and this was after a vgery short run of less than 10 mins from cold.  Temp gauge had not even reached 90c which is the normal position for it when fully warmed up. I am just curious as I own a Passat TDi and have no such issue.

  The bracket has a large "rubber grommet" that is grooved in the centre to fit inside the mount bracket and the cable runs through the centre of the "rubber grommet". But I am unable to remove the cable and "rubber grommet" from the mount bracket. It doesn't seem to be a case of pulling the "rubber grommet" and cable out of the opening in the bracket.

  (Prv wasblown).fuel pressure within tolerance now.there is a good battery and good starter motor on it.tryed crank sensor, ignition switch.all to no avail, oh and fed pump and return into can so rules out diesel running back or taking in air.thinking of sending injectors of to get cbecked now.any help would be greatly appreciated.

  The BMWs are the same price and the Audi another £800. Which will be best in terms of value both to run and when I come to sell? Am very tempted by the performance of 525d but worried about how it will last and depreciate. The 520d has great spec but does its age count against it? Your thoughts appreciated.

  Shortly after this temperature is reached, it will drop suddenly to about 75C and then never reach proper operating temperature (88C) again. I have also noticed the engine cooling fan will be running a lot. I checked the top hose of the radiator and this stays cold for a while indicating that the thermostat is closed to start with and then opens. As far as I am aware, ECU, thermostat or AC pressure switch control operation of the fan.

  I've noticed a loss in power lately but a few days ago I was dropping someone off and when we arrived we sat in the car for a good 15 minutes or so with the engine running. The outside temperature was cool. When I drove off, the increase in power was quite incredible - car felt very light - lots more torque - but it only lasted a couple of minutes and now it's back to normal.

  I bought this beastie in March 2012 and exported it to Cyprus. No complaints as running and maintenance costs here are tolerable. However as I don't have a handbook, can anyone explain the function of the centre instrument of the top of dashboard threesome. It has an outside temp gauge, but the "S" button at the bottom right of the instrument doesn't seem to make any sense.

  Hi, on 3 occasions in last six months about 2 months apart each, just after I have filled up my diesel fuel tank I have heard a pump running type noise which appears to be coming from the rear of the car. It only lasts for the first couple of minutes after driving away from the station and there are no warning lights etc - any ideas?

  Engine starts fine drives fine when engine gets hot and you park up go shop get back in car engine starts runs 5mins then cuts out then wont start for 10 mins then cuts out again.RAC said it was my fuel pressure sensor either on engine or fuel pump sensor.what does anyone else think RAC man said if was fuel pump sensor it would cut out all the time so he thinking fuel pressure sensor on engine or cable for that the problem came up on his computer fuel pressure fault ?

  Hi, Recently, my car wasn't running quite as it should, so I ran my diag tool on it and it came back with the error P1402. This is reporting that the EGR orifice is restricted. This has been confirmed by my local Ford dealership. One of Warranty Direct's exclusions is carbon build up.
• Vauxhall Nova (1983 - 1993) - 1.2i misfire under acceleration-idle speed ? 25 Jun 2013 (Forum)
  Have been asked to have a look at a basic Nova 1.2 i The car starts fine from cold (and hot) but during the warm up period there is a very noticeable misfire under acceleration - it's ok when stone cold or hot. The temp gauge barely moves off the blue bit even after an hours running, and the idling speed is erratic at all times - usually a bit to fast. I intend replacing the thermostat, plugs and leads - but any info on sorting the idle speed would be a great help. TIA Slight tweak to subject line to identify model and problem. - PU

  The manual for the car is missing so I had to look it up online. The car is now at 150k fully serviced (every 10k) and run like a dream.  I found an online vw document saying the AWX engine need the belt changed at 80k miles but ringing VW in Bristol and they reccomend 60k, who should I believe?

  Now that my daughter has bought a horse, she is considering buying a 4X4, she is selling her audi a3 and hopes to find something that won't cost a fortune to run as she will have to use it for work also. We have been looking at Mitsubishi Pajero's 2.5, 3 door. She needs something that will be able to tow a trailer. The Shoguns seems to be way too big. It appears that some Landrovers don't have the pulling power.

  Looking for help. My ford mondeo 2.0 tdci 2006 had no power earlier today. A jump start got me running but the coil looking light is now flashing. I drove the car 20 miles and it didn't charge the battery, still completely dead with the exception of dashboard lights which come on. Driving the 20 miles didn't seem to have the same power as I normally would but I was easily able to get to 70mph but with slower acceleration.

  The car has developed some problems recently and looks to be getting worse. The car starts and runs okay but has no power when accelerating. It emits a black smoke. The car can only give 29MPG.  The turbo seams to kick in okay but you dont feel that power transmitted to the wheels. There is this noise like a snorr when going over a hump, like the car doesnt want to go.

  can any one help. I have just bought a 1999 megane 1600 16v. the vehicle started fine, i left it running until the engine was hot and turned it off. I went to start it a few mins later. all the ignition lights come on but the vehicle wouldnt turn over, not even a click on the starter motor. I tried locking and unlocking the vehicle in case imobiliser issue and still no change.
• Ford - Air Con CON 11 May 2013 (Forum)
  Just took one of our cars into the Ford Garage yesterday, A 2008 Mondeo Estate  as the Air Con was not very effective, and they diagnosed a "punctured condensor" (probably caused by a flying stone ) requiring a new one at £480.00 fitted I declined this as it seemed rather expensive, paid them £ 60 for the diagnosis and took it today to a local Air Con specialist for a second opinion. The could find no fault whatsoever, and with a re-gas, all is up and running fine. Now I am quite Sure the Ford garage was trying to rip me off. How should I take this up with them ? I certainly want my £ 60 back. Should I be reporting them to trading Standards ?

  Picked up my new Picanto yesterday and, so far, loving it. Noticed something when running through the trip computer screens, though. It has a thermometer and, according to everything I've read from KIA, that should only be available on the '3' spec but mine is the 1.25 ISG '2' spec...
