XXX.4p per litre 11 Jul 2008 (Forum)
But one thing stood out above all else and really caught my eye. One of my local filling stations has priced all it's fuel ending in .4p per litre! Now, I thought it was an unwritten forecourt law that all prices should end .9p and we've discussed on here before the psychology of this, so why the sudden change? Is it to catch the eye by being different to everyone else? -
MPVs, S-max, child seats and a 2-3-2 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
So far we have considered: S-Max - looks promising but concerned over reports of poor build quality and reliability Sedona - nice and cheap to buy, big and spacious but heavy on fuel and VED Voyager - same as sedona but not as cheap to buy Mulitpla - too ugly... Anyone got any other suggestions? Ideally a mid sized MPV rather than full size, hence the S-Max looking promising. -
Land Rover Range Rover L322 (2002 - ) - After a 2002 RR for around 10K at auction........ 8 Jun 2008 (Forum)
For the sake of 6 months, would it be a good idea to buy one cNov-Dec this year as they are an unpopular vehicle what with VED and fuel price rises and therefore may fall significantly in price in that time? HJ's most recent auction report suggests that there might be a price correction coming as lots of cars will have to be released at lower values soon and this is my worry. -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 1996 1.5 Diesel leak 26 May 2008 (Forum)
Black Gold. might be at the price I paid for it. So jacked it up had a look seems to be coming from on Top of the Tank where the Fuel pipes come from. problem is I cant see much with Tank being to close to the floor of the Car. Will try and have a better look tomorrow. But was wondering if anyone had come across this on a Corsa of this age before. -
What to do? 17 May 2008 (Forum)
My other half is hopefully getting something Focus sized on a lease which would take care of the family duties, leaving me with a pretty big car just for getting me to work and back. What with the price of fuel and the increase in road tax I was thinking of maybe getting something a bit smaller - more suited to carrying one bloke to work. I've been looking at Peugeot 206 HDI's. There's a 1.4 that gets over 60mpg apparently and is a lot cheaper on tax too. -
Diesel Reliability 29 Apr 2008 (Forum)
By comparison my diesel experience has been absolutely trouble free apart from that wretched Renault. The pay off is that in the roundest of terms I have saved circa £20K in fuel costs as a result. The truth is out there but what is it? -
Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 1997 MKIII, 2L GTI - turns over doesn't fire up 4 Apr 2008 (Forum)
A new ignition coil has been fitted and not sorted the problem. The garage is stumped. They say there is no spark or fuel going to the engine. They think it may be the immobiliser but i am not so sure as my immobiliser would normally not allow any turn over or use of the lights. Any ideas folks?? I am not very technical so keep it simple please. -
Reliable diesels - is there such a thing? 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I've a (very) unreliable Ford Focus estate which, over the past 6 months has cost me more than £1,000 to keep on the road and has been off-road at the garage for more than 5 weeks - it's had ECU and fuel injection problems, clogged valves...you name it.... From reading this forum, the 130bhp Mondeo seems dogged with similar problems, ditto the Mazda 6. I'm after a diesel. It needs to have a big boot for the dogs. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2005 2.0 diesel - engine fault 2 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I really need some help from people who know about Ford Mondeo diesel engines. I have a 2005 Mondeo on which the warranty runs out in March. The car has had a new fuel pump under warranty. Sometimes the car still runs badly and goes into limp mode. The car has been at the dealer and they have tried to recode an injector but say that this has failed and a new injector will need to be fitted. -

Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1994 1.9TD - intermittent tacho 21 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Tho' I can't see from the wiring diagram in my Haynes that it's actually connected to the EMS and there's no mention of it in the fuel/ emission control part of the book either. So, anyone have any ideas? If it was the sensor can I test it? It seems that a new one can be bought for less than twenty quid so it's almost worth just trying it. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 1998 - drivers seat belt warning light 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
After turning ignition switch on, all dash warning lights come on normally, then, after 3 seconds or so, they go out sequentially, starting with engine management, then ABS, fuel and seatbelt. After a further couple of seconds the seatbelt warning light comes back on, and stays on; connecting or disconnecting either or both seatbelts, makes no difference: The light stays on. -
Mercedes Benz C-Class W202 (1993 - 2000) - 97 C180 Auto, Misfire when cold 21 Dec 2007 (Forum)
If you put your foot on the gas pedal it sometimes does not rev up. It feels like the engine is not getting the right mixture (air / fuel intake?) Then after 5 minutes it goes fine. I also noticed when it's warm the kickdown is a bit weird. If you floor it it goes fine but when you are in 3rd/4th gear when you kick down it only changes down one gear but the rev is still under 3000. -
Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - '97 1.2 86k Stuttering Engine 13 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Changed the HT leads as they were the originals, no better or worse, same rough idle and no power. Any ideas, I'm thinking fuel filter next, air filter was done a couple of months ago. Up until now the car was running well easy 55mpg, no smoke etc. Any experience or advice welcome, Thanks Ellis -
Volkswagen Polo (1981 - 1991) - mk2 1.3 violent judder/mifire under load diagnosis 24 Oct 2007 (Forum)
right weve got a polo mk2 1300 MH engine over a couple of days it started to have a mild judder that turned into a violent jolt (maybe misfire not sure ) and its so bad its undrivable now it starts on the button and seems to drive reasonbly at very light throttle...any normal to heavy throttle and it jolts like crazy...idles great and revs at standstill nicley i thought it was the hall sender and fitted a new dizzy complete with cap and rotor, plugs, leads and coil are very recent as is the fuel pump and carb base its got the dreaded pierburg carb that wasnt running to bad apart from cold mornings any ideas what to do next? could it be the carb causing those faults (id planned to weber it when funds allow) no airleaks that i can tell not sure what to do now , apart from replace random parts -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2001 1.8 petrol: pinking/knocking 10 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Following my previous post, pinking has come back again (or never really went away). Tried different fuel but no improvement. Engine knocks when using just enough throttle to maintain steady speed (eg 40mph up a slight hill in 4th). If I add more throttle there's a short burst of mega-pinking (about 0.25 sec) then OK. -
'93 Polo 1.0 - Hesitation under throttle 28 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Can't think of what else to try. so your ideas would be appeciated! Many thanks, Matt slight change to subject line to make it easier to identify model ans fuel. - PU -
Owning 2 cars, insurance question 27 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I would like a car a bit different from the other rep mobiles (I've currently got a celica) but it's turning out a bit pricey for both fuel and servicing and also I'm thinking about residuals and the fact that I'm pumping up the mileage at a rate of 2k+ per month. Ideally I'd like a reasonably quick diesel i.e. Fabia vRS, Saab 9-3, BMW etc but they're all a bit out of my price range and I don't want to spend too much and then end up 3 years later with massive depriciation due to the high mileage. -
Toyota Yaris 1.0 GLS diagnostic socket 5 May 2007 (Forum)
I have had a search of the internet to find possible solutions but appear to be useless without a reader of some kind. One thing I did find was the fuel cap had not been tightened - tightened it but am unsure whether the fault should clear on its own. Could anybody advise on how to reset this, thought of disconnecting battery but thought there could be an easier way like holding left ear whilst humming the dambusters tune. -
Rapeseed oil in diesel 23 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I just think shoving foodstuff in a car's diesel tank and having an improvement is quite something! I'd be treating it as more of an additive than a fuel as such. Please no "THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE" posts. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here. If you don't believe it, that's fine. Click the back button.
