Bath Day 11 Apr 2007 (Forum)
This may sound a crazy idea but I am planning to travel from just north of Glasgow to Bath, stay a few hours for various reasons and drive back the same day. I would leave early hours say 0200 Hrs to avoid the traffic one way, AA say 411 miles and 7 hours drive time. I have a reliable comfortable car at least. Any tips to avoid disaster from the members would be appreciated. -

It was admittedly reckless driving, the judge said, but not dangerous. The driver was a politician, by the way." -
Mini luxury cars 9 Dec 2006 (Forum)
If we are forced to drive smaller, far more economical cars, are todays superminis a viable option for long distance driving? They seem to have most of the equipment that you get on larger cars and reading about them, they seem to be rated as comfy and have a fair amount of space for their increasing size. -

Cambelt powered diesel pumps 19 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Is there any reason why manufacturers do this? Surely it would be best off driven by the aux drive belt, leaving the cam timing belt to do just what it says - keep everything in sync. I can't see the aux drive belt being hard to keep correctly timed as long as everything was designed properly. -
Company vans..? my rights?? 14 Jun 2006 (Forum)

Inspired by biofuel? 2 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My local paper reports this week the case of a man driving with vegetable oil instead of hydraulic fluid in his brake system. He used it ?by mistake?. Two garages had told him the car was a death trap, but he drove on. The police caught up with him when he was driving with four kids in the car. -
Insurance question ? 19 Oct 2005 (Forum)
We've just bought a new Scenic and my wife has transfered her insurance to it, this now leaves her old car in our garage with no insurance on it (we've sold it but the buyers paying in installments). At the time of insurance transfer her provider told her she could not drive her old car on her new policy as she was the owner of both cars! ? Can I drive the car on my insurance as a car "with the owners permision" 3rd party only? -
What new Car ?!! 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Currently driving around in a 306 S16 but due to a new family member I'm thinking seriously of changing. Budget is £2k and want something reliable, economic (Compared to 22mpg from the pug)and 4 doors. Needs to be slightly bigger than the 306 but due to drive size not any bigger than a Vectra. -
G-reg Passat. gearbox removal probs. 6 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I have to remove the gearbox on my 1990 Passat 1800cc to change the clutch. I have removed the drive-shafts ( at their respective flanges )and everything else that i thought could possibly be in the way but i still can't get the 'box out! The bell-housing is not clearing the fly-wheel enough for it to drop down because the drive-shaft flange is in the way. -
4 x 4 5 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Living in Spain, currently with my English registered, right hand drive P reg Peugot 405 diesel estate but now need 4 x 4. Preferably second hand X Trail or Rav 4. Very expensive here and understand as much as half the price if bought in Germany. Can anyone recommend a way of bringing a car to Spain from Germany and how I can sell my Peugot without driving it back to the UK?? -

Laser Eye Surgery 24 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi all. I wondered if people had any experiences of laser eye surgery and how, in particular, you found driving post surgery? I'm really short sighted (around -6.75) and would love to have laser surgery to dispose of the glasses for good. I commute around 450 miles per week so would really find other people's experiences of driving post surgery a great help. -
This Weeks Poll. What Would You Do? 11 Oct 2004 (Forum)
"A person is lying at the roadside. Unable to see who they are, or if they?re at all injured. Do you:-" Drive past, swerving slightly to avoid their body and carry on with your journey. Drive past, pull over as soon as it's safe to do so, and phone the emergency services. Stop immediately and offer any necessary assistance. -
Commuter car of the future? 22 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Handles well and does a quarter mile in 12 seconds with a 0-60 of 4 seconds :-) At $85k it is a little steep but they do a $18k version which is a slower at 7 seconds 0-60 with a choice of front or rear wheel drive. The next one up from that at $40,000 is 4 wheel drive. Range is 80 miles so it is pretty decent. At last something to make a petrol head go electric :-) teabelly -

Cabrio Weather? 13 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Well, on Friday night the hardtop came off the cabrio for the first time, and today I went out for a pleasant lunchtime drive. As the temperature outside was at least 8C it seemed ideally suited to my first drive with the roof down - apologies for any typing errors but my fingers are still warming up again! Which made me wonder - what is the coldest that anyone has seen a cabrio with the top down? -
leaky 106 17 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Our 106 appears to be losing most of its brake fluid via the offside rear wheel. Apparently the brake warning light was on when my missus started the car to drive home tonight & when I checked the car over (in the dark) I noticed the lack of fluid & leakage on the bottom half of the hub and rear tyre. Luckily she has a short drive home!!! Brake cylinder failure????? -
Peugeot 106 Noisy reverse 29 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I have purchased a Peugeot 106 1.1L March 98 Look 2 67K for my daughter. Nice clean car drives well and stops well. However I notice that the reverse gear is quite noisy paticularly if I reverse up the drive. It\'s not a grinding noise just a cyclic straight cut gear type noise. Is this normal for this box, does your 106 sound noisey in reverse?
