  • Mondeo s reg. Significant fuel leak 13 Jun 2006 (Forum)
S reg 2.0l auto saloon petrol Today I suffered a significant fuel leak from the tank area. The car was at full operating temperature with approx 2 gall left in the tank. I had just filled up the tank and had then driven to a car park to park for a few hours.
  • Driving test grief (need advice) 18 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I can now see why passing the driving test in the UK is the hardest place of all EU countries (quote from ?Driving? on the Times newspaper) it?s not because it is a better system it?s because they can fail you on trivialities even though they know you can drive perfectly good. Ok he booked another one for March. I think you can fly to Slovenia with that kind of money and pass your driving test with ease (Quote from Autocar) and than convert it to a UK one!

as he chases his Mercedes The victim of a daring car theft risked injury as he leapt into his wife\'s car and chased after the thieves who snatched his £70,000 sports car. But as he tried to box in the stolen Mercedes SL55 the thieves crashed into the pursuing car, leaving both vehicles badly damaged .
  • keep 306 or s/h almera-primera-mondeo? 4 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I'm not interested in residuals since I run 'em into the ground. If I change I'll probably look just after the March registration when there'll be a few more s/h's around. Do you think trader, private or auction would be best for any or all of the above replacements? Also (sorry for being a pain) does anybody have any experience in using professional auction buyers like mentioned in HJ's directory?
  • Think I\'ve seen the last of my car.Part1 9 Oct 2003 (Forum)
As the accident was in no way my fault, can I insist that the insurance company repairs the car? Also, it\'s the bank holiday weekend and I\'m without a car because of an accident that wasn\'t my fault. Apparently I can only have a courtesy car where the car is repairable and they haven\'t decided yet. I phoned this morning and all the insurance company\'s systems are down, which is of no help to me!
  • Letter from Lagos 17 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I arrived on Saturday nite, and went into downtown Lagos . On sunday flew to Port Harcourt, and from there on by road to Aba ? about an hpur?s trip. And what an hour it was! The road is a two-lane-a-direction dual carriageway, but in places where the surface is too potholed, the cars on one side simply drive across the resevation, and start a new road in YOUR carriageway!!!!
  • VW BMW and MB - ACC Thefts 14 Aug 2025 (Forum)
They are then resold on auction sites etc for a fraction of their replacement cost but still need programming at the main dealer . Reminds me of the Beastie Boys and thefts of badges from VW. S but at least the dealers replaced the badges free of charge. How long have these units being fitted to VW BMW and MB which are mainly affected and why aren’t other makes being targeted like Tesla ?

  • Large 4x4 prices 21 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Maybe it's impossible to know but taking an educated guess , with proposed ban on diesel/petrol by 2035, do people think used 4x4 prices for older bigger 4x4's such as a Toyota land cruiser are going to plummet which some analysts say or basically become too expensive to run as the government will do silly things with tax and insurance ?   Say for example you bought a 2006 landcruiser for £5k now would it be worth £500 in 5 years time   Fascinating answers awaiting !

  • How will this affect the ordinary motorist ? - Euro 7 to be introduced 2025 24 Nov 2022 (Forum)
The motor industry seems to be in a state of shock to learn the announcement that Euro 7 will be introduced As early as 2025. Even PHEV s will be affected and will be restricted in their use of EV power to extend the use of their batteries. Looks like the UK are locked into the EU regulations even though we are no longer a member but taking a pragmatic view it looks like another nail in the coffin of the less affluent in society having access to personal transport.
  • Hyundai i10 - Thoughts on a Hyundai 3 Jan 2021 (Forum)
After five and a half years ownership my first MOT 'fail' As expected with i10's it was the rear discs and pads which after the fail, were replaced by me for 50 quid. Actually, five years isn't bad considering rear brakes are a weak item with these cars but my MGB has gone fifty years without needing rear brakes replacing so why do modern cars have discs all round?
  • MINI John Cooper Works - R56 air conditioning stopped working 3 Jun 2020 (Forum)
So I have a 2010 Cooper S, and today the AC stopped blowing cold air. It seemed to work fine last night, but today just blew hot air. The AC light turns on, but just warm air comes from the vents. Not sure if it just needs to be recharged, or what.
  • Insurance- driving through floods 3 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Well I've seen some particularly stupid videos here in S Wales of people deliberately driving through clearly deep flood water on the roads and the subsequent completely predictable stalling, floating away etc of the ruined car. I was wondering whether these kinds of actions are covered by comprehensive insurance or not.
  • Lovely 1989 Rover 827Si coming up for auction 21 Jan 2020 (Forum)
These were nice things to sit in and were no dearer than a Sierra or Cavalier used thanks to the (actually unjust) fear factor which was mostly built on the quality issues on early examples. By the late 80’s they were ok.

Hi all   I have the following advisory after the Peugeot 207 passed its MOT:   Front Roll Bar Link N/S Worn/Damaged.   Anti- roll bar linkage has slight play in a ball joint nearside front (2.4.G.2).   Any ideas if it's an easy fix or how long it will hold up?
