New Michelin Primacy 3 Premium Tyres: Are They 3 Ways Better? 21 Oct 2011 (News)
The secret is in the combination of these. ROLLING RESISTANCE Low rolling resistance is the key to both longevity and fuel economy, so as a last demonstration we were treated to the sight of two Peugeot 308s running off identical ramps side by side. Needless to say, the 308 on Michelin Primacy 3s travelled considerably further, bearing out the Michelin claim that over the life of a set of tyres the fuel saving will be around 70 litres. -

Five Grand Friday: Skoda Octavia vRS 7 Aug 2015 (News)
The TFSI engine isn't terribly thirsty - it will return 37.7mpg according to the official figures at least. With this kind of car you'll want to run it on a premium fuel like Shell V-Power Nitro+ which should help retain the vRS performance and aid fuel economy too. We think this generation Octavia still looks good, especially the more angular pre-facelift version that this is. -
Goodwood Festival of Speed: Volkswagen XL1 demonstrations 27 Jun 2013 (News)
. This super-innovative, ultra-frugal model looks like a vision of the future, but it is in fact already in limited production. The XL1 is the world’s most fuel-efficient production vehicle, with an official combined fuel consumption figure of 313 mpg and CO 2 emissions of 21 g/km, and it is also one of the most advanced vehicles in the world. Its body is made largely of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer, while its drivetrain melds a two-cylinder 800 cc diesel engine with an electric motor. Like any good supercar, it is also low (at 1,282 mm high it is lower than a Porsche Boxster) and features scissor-opening doors (although its 120-litre boot does make it somewhat more practical than supercar enthusiasts may like). -

Skoda Estelle 105S in Friday's 'Flipping Bangers' 29 May 2019 (News)
The challenge comes from starting an online auction immediately the car arrives in the workshop to get it gone in 5 days time. But the biggest problem is how to add enough value to persuade someone to pay them a profit on it. Will comes up with a new twist on the old ‘vinyl roof’ idea and Gus locates a garage that has a stock of rare spares. -

A 1999 C240 Sport, it's one of the later W202s, with a resultant improvement in build quality, and had been owned by the same keeper since 2001. During that period, the car has only been washed by hand, has only used high octane fuel and has been service 13 times. It's also gleaming black, with matching leather trim.
