Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.4 unable to start the engine 18 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I've changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, ht leads, crank sensor and nothing makes any difference. it varies from not starting at all to starting then cutting out after a few seconds. I've had 3 different people look at it. one suggested the ecu, we got a second hand one but made no difference. someone from the garage said a new ecu is no good unless you have immobiliser box and key fob to match. They have suggested getting an auto elecy to try and bypass the immoboliser. any suggestions? -
VW Golf Problems 23 Jul 2009 (Forum)
The car was fine yesterday but today it did exactly the same thing again. Personally I think it is either a faulty sensor or a fault in the ECU (I think some Bosch ECUs exhibit this kind of fault). Has anybody else experienced anything similar? -
Vauxhall Vectra B facelift (1999 - 2002) - 01 1.8 intermittent starting fault 24 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I'm having a nightmare with my vectra it has an intermittent fault on starting, sometimes it will start no problem othertimes it will turn over then flash up the car spanner light indicating an immobiliser fault i've had the imobiliser ecu changed but it is no better. When my brother uses the car there doesn't seem to be a problem when i use it it leaves me stranded in all sorts of places refusing to start. The only suggections that i've had suggest changing the ECU, but i have also been told that you cannot fit a second hand unit. -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 05 1.6 Starts on 4 cylinders but only running on 2 21 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Pencil coil has been replaced but issue not resolved. Further testing is being done today but suggested that probability that ECU will need to be replaced. Concerned about having ECU replaced if there is no certainty that this is the cause of the problem. Would be very grateful for any thoughts on this. (Apologies - posted this in discussion forum in error) -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 1.4 petrol - High idle speed 26 May 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me if this expensive and if the information Peugeot have given me is correct? My garage said no ECU fault codes were showing so does this mean the ECU is OK or should I be more worried? Thanks All -
Yaris 1.0 Petrol Engine Cut out 13 May 2007 (Forum)
The indicator light flashes a few times, and other dashboard lights come on. The car has been back to the dealer and an ECU has been replaced, but the problem still persist. No fault code was recorded by the ECU. Any clues trying to get it fixed before the warranty runs out? I have told the friend to get rid of the car if the dealer can't fix it. -

Efficient driving technique 29 Sep 2006 (Forum)
My question is will the computer/ecu cut off the petrol when the accelerator is not depressed, or is my car too old to have such a system? In my case, would it be better to leave it in gear and ease off the accelerator, or to continue leaving it in neutral? -
'98 Pug 306 1.4 keeps juddering at idle 12 Apr 2005 (Forum)
It also sometimes seems not to have the same amount of power that it use to i seem to have to give it more gas when accelerating as it feels sluggish and sometimes judders. Did not know if it was the ECU unit or the coil. If its the ECU would a second hand one repair it and how do youe remove it. Hope someone can help. Cheers -

Vauxhall Cavalier 8 Jul 2002 (Forum)
and code 44 came up - faulty oxygen sensor. This I changed - fault codes are now clear but problem is still there but except now the ECU light does not come on. Any ideas would be much appreciated. -
Punto stalling 3 Sep 2001 (Forum)
The Punto has a single point injection system which appears to consist of a single injector squirting metered doses of petrol into the throat of a carburettor body (devoid of bowl, float & jets) in response to a bewidering array of sensors whose data are processed by an ECU on the inner offside wing. I suspect overfuelling and wonder: Has the oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe failed? Is the engine temperatue sensor/ECU failing to reduce the petrol doses once the engine is warm? -
Land Rover Range Rover 'Classic' (1970 - 1995) - 88 3.5 cutting out 30 Jul 2019 (Forum)
there is a cold start injector on the plenum chamber. When I had starting problems a couple of years ago (finally traced to unclean connector on the ECU) someone on here told me to disconnect it. I did so, and the thing has started perfectly ever since - until now. I've also taken the obvious step of cleaning the ECU connector again. Any ideas, anyone???? -
Fiat Panda - Is £225 diagnostic fee for my 2008 Fiat Panda ok? 24 Oct 2015 (Forum)
At the time i had already moved the car twice and didn't feel i had much choice. So i said okay. They phoned me back to say there was water in the ECU and wiring at it would cost me £2700 pounds to fix. This in effect meant my car was a write off. I took the car away and went to the garage at the end of the road where it was stationed. The guy there cleaned up the top of the ECU, fixed a corroded pin and it works. -
Peugeot 207 - Engine warning light 28 Oct 2014 (Forum)
My wife averages 200 miles per week and does her twice weekly trip of 90 miles on a fast dual carriage in 90mins. We took the car to the main agent and after 2 hours of diagnostics the ECU fault codes were P1336 and P1340 but they didn't have a clue as to why, as the car was running perfectly. They contacted Peugeot Technical who advised that the error codes indicated a "misfire caused by short journy use" despite being told by the main agent that there was no misfire and that the car was mainly used on fast journeys. The main agent have reset the ECU and the engine management light is now working normally. -
