Peugeot 308 - Faulty clutch on car purchased from dealer 19 Sep 2017 (Forum)
However, Peugeout stated that it may not just need a new clutch but also a new dual mass flywheel. Im unsure whether the dealer would replace the DMF even if it did need requiring. I maybe left with a half completed job. My immediate plan is to take the car to a second indepdent Peugeot dealer for confirmation of the clutch. What should be my next steps? -

However after thinking logically (i.e. not every diesel owner suffers a turbo failure, or countless DMF replacements) we have both come to the conclusion that due to our mileage each year we would be around £700-£800 better off (and that is a conservative estimate) by going diesel. However I'm also aware of potential pitfalls, especially with newer engines with DPFs, and with certain problems with older engines (i.e. 2 litre VW units). -

We also have to tow our 1325kg caravan about 10 times a year. We have had diesels for a while, but with all the DPF, DMF etc debate I'm not sure it's worth it. In the S-Max, the 2.0 diesel would suffice but I would really like the 2.2 for a bit more shove especially towing. However, while there are plenty of 2.0's on the used market, there are very few 2.2s and they are very highly priced. -

Fortunately, the car seems to have so much torque that its still very driveable. History of the car: -new clutch, starter, dmf, 2000 miles ago. -in July '08, a split boost hose was replaced -an injector was recoded at 65000 miles; record for this says "CARRY OUT DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS, TRACED DTC P23 36 NUMBER ONE INJECTOR REACHED ADAPTIVE LIMIT RE-ENTER CORRECTION VALUES" -No 4 Cylinder was "reconfigured" at 55000 miles (thats what the document says) Could this be a split intercooler hose? -

Perhaps 8000 - 10000 miles. Given that this age ceed diesels do not have the usual problem areas such as DMFs and DPFs, will the reliability of this car be similar to a similar age / mileage petrol ceed? There doesn't seem to be many endemic diesel faults mentioned in HJ's car by car breakdown. -

Petrol - I do about 7000 miles a year. Leaving low miles aside I'm worried about stories of expensive DMF and other repairs on newer diesels. Traditional handbrake not electronic Traditional key ignition Chain cam rather than belt which I think means the 2.0 petrol Mk4? Reliable, cheap So thinking 2009 or newer Mk4 Mondeo - seems to avoid Mondeo steering rack issues on 2008s and earlier. -

Maybe worth a mention is the simply dismal fuel consumption...urban driving hardly returns 35 mpg...longer, gentle runs struggle to top 40. The car has also passed through the dreaded DMF saga, but the dealer not only repaired it under warranty, but after a couple of weeks also recalled us to fit a modification to ensure the fault does not return. Any suggestions welcome guys as I am really out of options now. -

Hello I got bit by DMF failure 2 months ago (failed starter caused by getting clogged up with swarf from disintegrating dual-mass flywheel/clutch); I ran the car on the replacement starter till it started sticking again... and then the clutch went. -
