Toyota Previa 2.0 D4d - Coolant in sump?!? 19 Apr 2012 (Forum)
She has always been serviced on the button and never had any problems.. I even treated her to a main dealer cam belt / pulleys, water pump, coolant and oil change just over 5000 miles ago.. However over the weekend cruising along at 70mph on motorway, the car just stalled (no smoke, no warning lights, no buzzers, no prior indication anything was wrong!) -

Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 26-11-2016 Part 1 5 Dec 2016 (Forum)
I ran the same engine in a Touran with the 7 Sp DSG. The EGR valve failed after 2 Years, a known weakness, followed by the EGR coolant sensor, then another coolant sensor, then finally an ABS sensor, all known issues, but all fixed under warranty. While it never broke down, it was getting stressful waiting for the next failure, so sold it and bought a RAV4 Petrol Hybrid last week. -
2006 Mazda 6 Petrol - Overheating after service 22 Oct 2010 (Forum)
My 55k Mazda 6 has just had it's annual service by the local Mazda dealer and since then it's overheating and the heating and air con are working sporadically. The coolant was replaced and the air con system was serviced. I've only done about 30 miles and three times the temp gauge has gone to the red line. The coolant in the tank seems cool and I've released the cap on the rad and it's boiled over loosing maybe half a pint of fluid and the temperature gauge returns to normal. -
Astra G 1.4 16v 2001 - astra cooling problem 22 May 2010 (Forum)
so the car carried on as normal misfiring a bit but with no temperature, then the needle started going up and down for a bit but right down the bottom, 5 mins later everything is all fine, temperature gauge returns to normal, no coolant loss, misfires or anything, ive been told its more than likely the coolant temperature sensor reading faulty causing the engine to misfuel etc? Many thanks -

Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.6 8v. Brown Sludge in the Filler cap 2 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I have noticed brown sludge in the filler cap of my 2003 Astra 1.6 8v petrol. There is no sign of extra coolant usage, infact I've never had to top up the coolant and the dipstick shows only normal condition of the oil. I have not noticed any decline in performance and I use 10w50 10w/40 oil ## of a good quality. -

Motorbike Head Gasket CBR1000F 18 May 2006 (Forum)
My normally reliable CBR1000F appears to have possibly blown its gasket. when it gets warm i'm getting loss of coolant thru a jubilee clip ( they've been checked along with operation of the thermostat)Drained coolant, there's no sign of oil in it, checked oil no signs of emulsion, i'm thinking gasket failure from water jacket to cylinder. -

Wot! No Bleeding Screws? 16 Oct 2002 (Forum)
In every vehicle I've ever owned or worked on there have always been bleedscrews in the cooling system (usually in the heater exit pipes and maybe the top hose feed to the water pump as well) to assist you in bleeding all the air from the system when replacing coolant. I've just bought a 1990 Toyota Corolla for SHMBO and am about to change the oil and coolant as a precaution. Checking both the vehicle and the Haynes manual I find no mention of bleedscrews. Haynes just tells me to drain and refill the system. -
Volkswagen Polo - Cooling fan eager to start 18 Feb 2020 (Forum)
It doesn't happen all the time, but there have been several occasions when it's been quite cold outside (3 or 4 deg C), I've started the engine from cold first thing in the morning having sat overnight, and after a few seconds the cooling fan starts. Looking at the coolant gauge it's not even left 0 yet, and the oil temperature on the dash isn't registering any temperature at all. After I drive for a few minutes the coolant and oil temperature starts creeping up as I'd expect, so I don't think it's a sensor problem. -
Ford Focus 2006 1.6 Petrol - Coolant/Antifreeze 15 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Hi, Just a quickie on Coolant/Antifreeze ( C/AF ). My car had a new cambelt kit and water pump fitted a couple of months ago. I now find the C/AF is way below minimum, I presume this is due to the mechanic scrimping on C/AF when filling up after completing the job (even though I paid top dollar for the job), so I need to top it up. -
99 Ford Fiesta 1.25 - Overheating 1 May 2013 (Forum)
Popped the hood again, the fan is cutting in. There doesn't appear to be any leak in the system. I can't be 100% that the coolant was at the correct level when i bought it - so maybe i'm hoping adding this coolant will help? It's a vague hope i guess.. I'm dubious of a head gasket fault as oil looks clean and no traces of oil in expansion tank. -
Peugeot 309 (1986 - 1993) - 89 1.9 losing water/coolant 15 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Since summer, I've noticed I've had to top up the water a lot more frequently - maybe every month, then every 3 or so weeks in the last couple of months - but not by much. 10 days ago sprained my ankle so it sat parked totally undriven (facing downhill, in case that's relevant). got in last night, coolant light on, had to top it up about 2 litres until light went off. I know I'm asking you to speculate, but does this sound like a radiator just suddenly going or a leak? Reason is, I have to think about how much money I want to spend on a car I want to keep for another year or so but not more (going travelling). -
Ford StreetKa (2003 - ) - 04 1.6 Running hot ?? 5 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Heater is working too, hot and cold on demand ( although is does seem to get hot way too fast in my opinion ) I can smell hot coolant in and out of the car but given the fact that the heater control valve disintigrated a week ago and sprayed all the coolant over the engine im not too suprised. Since the repair it hasnt leaked any coolant and the levels have been constant. -
Rover416 Over heating. Water pump vanes? 17 May 2007 (Forum)
On the most recent journey - 1st 40 miles on fast dual carriageway/ motorway at 60/70 it started to overheat. Some minor loss of coolant so stopped and a minor top up of coolant Next part - fast A roads probably similar speeds and another overheating situation. Final part - fast A road at a controlled 50 mph with me in convoy appeared OK.
