t get flashed, im assuming I?d have seen it as im told its very bright right? Camera wise all that?s bothering me is those average speed ones. A couple of times I had issues with speed limits. I try not to go over any speed limit at all. I like REALLY try. But its unhelpful when you just aren?
  • Peugeot 407 (2004 - ) - 2004 2.0 HDI 136 Fuel Economy 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
From what they said when I booked it in they think it is not that far removed from normal but the economy figures quoted everywhere are identical to the Mondeo`s, and most comparable cars in the class.
  • How dopey...? 28 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Unremarkable, except that I know a bit about the S60 and not only does it have two bulbs for each tail light, but the computer (even the bare-bones one in my S model) gives you an unmissable and specific warning when one of them fails. So this driver (youngish, male, didn't look dim or impoverished) had been ignoring the message about the first bulb long enough for the second one to go.
  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 04 1.6 Worse than expected 1.6 HDI Economy 25 Jun 2008 (Forum)
At 30K miles per year & paying for them all myself, I'm quite keen to get the best economy possible. The 307's computer tells me I'm averaging 56-57MPG & I'd be very happy with that, but on measuring what I'm putting in the tank, it's only 48! Exactly the same driving profile as the 306. I tried driving extra-economically on a long round trip of 1700 miles & whereas the 306 would easily have done 55 driving like that, the 307 was still below 50.
  • Driving in Argentina 20 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I had the good fortune to be sent to a week?s conference in Buenos Aires last week. I thought the back room might like to hear something of the differences in the driving experience. Despite the economic crash the ?car fleet? is pretty new and largely European in nature with a sprinkling of ancient Peugeots and Ford Falcons still on the road.
  • Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 97 pressurising coolant tank and other symptoms 6 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The recovery guy said they will do a pressure test to identify the problem, but i dont want them to do the test and then fob me off by telling me it`s not the head gasket, when it just might be.
  • Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Excessive Service cost ? 28 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I?m interested in people?s opinions on where I stand on this. I?ve just had my 50k service at a local franchised Honda dealer I?ve not used before. While I am pleased with the service I have received, I am not as happy with the price I have paid.
  • Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - iCTDI a Long term review 7 Oct 2007 (Forum)
So, the main dealer is useless, the paint is thin and it has a drink problem. Otherwise it is pretty brilliant. G s
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 05 loud squealing - steering or brakes ? 10 Sep 2007 (Forum)
If it's the steering, then it'll hopefully get sorted under warranty but if it's the pads, then I'd prefer to know beforehand and hopefully even change them myself. Does anyone have experience of changing front and/or rear pads on a Mazda 6 ? Cheers. s
  • 2002 Polo 9N sporadic starting problems 18 Aug 2007 (Forum)
The car is driven by a pensioner with a corresponding short shopping trip/low annual mileage driving profile. In total, the car has only covered about 5,000 miles since new (1 owner). Here?s the problem: Occasionally when you turn the ignition key, the instrument panel warning lights illuminate as normal but nothing else happens. The starter motor doesn?t turn and the solenoid doesn?t even ?
  • Jaguar X-Type Estate (2004 - 2007) - insurance, how to get big enough courtesy car 15 Aug 2007 (Forum)
S-I-L has recently had a fairly large shunt in her car (BMW 120d) when her hubby hit a large stag in Scotland whilst they were driving up overnight...(apparently the midges are bad in the hills/mountains so the deer are remaining down low).
  • EGR valve and Vacuum pump (Vectra) 29 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I think that this is not normal, so what is the problem? Is the Vacuum pump not socking enough? How can I know if the vacuum strength it?s with the right strength? Is there a simple way to know about that? I would be very appreciated if someone can help me with this problem. Regards, Jony

Hi All, I have some little problems with my first car which is a Punto 55 S 1996 (P Reg). • 1999 Peugeot 306 1.9 TDi Meridian 10 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hello All! I was wondering if anyone could help me. My S-reg peugeot 306 has recently developed a bit of a problem. For the last year or so it has needed oil top-ups in between services. Just before christmas I was driving along and the car seemed to accelerate of it's own volition - only slightly but enough to make me use the brakes to bring it back under control.
  • Economics of fixing/keeping Audi A4 3 Nov 2006 (Forum)
But then it's major service will be due at 160k and it's a cambelt change so a £700 job at local independant specialist in a years time. He's married & in his mid-30's and first child on the way, due April next year. Wife has an H reg Clio, possibly also due for replacement bearing in mind the above (will a pushchair fit in the boot etc.) Should he fix the Audi and keep it for a few more years (bearing in mind the above situation, he's not made of money) or should he fix the Audi and sell it, and buy a newer car with less miles for say £5k or so, something that will be family suitable and borrow the money over 3 years.
  • Revving 2.0i 16v megane cabriolet 4 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Rite i have a little problem and im wonderering if any one reading this that may be able to help or give a little of advice what the problem could be if possible please. I brought a 1998 S-reg Megane 2.0i 16v Cabriolet a couple of weeks back ( Its the version that has the same engine as the Clio Williams Apparently ) the temp gauge rises rapidly to half way or just a little over half way but im not losing any water or oil as i check constantly but temp only rises when i have the heaters on to the 2nd temp bar, also the revs keep sticking between 1500RPm and 2500RPM it varies so cant give a percise RPM,. sorry.
  • Have I been ripped off? VW Polo 12 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I do not have the technical knowledge to dispute this, only to vent my exasperation with the service receptionist but they assured me this is the only solution so I have had to pay up in order to maintain the car?s legality. I have a sneaking feeling I have been ripped off. Please reassure me I haven?t been. Additionally I asked them to fit a new bulb into the heater panel as this had failed. I was told that would require a new heater control panel to remedy this; I declined their offer.
  • My new Passat - first impressions 7 Sep 2006 (Forum)
brilliant as far as I?m concerned. I used drivethedeal.com who put me in touch with a VW dealer about an hour?s drive away and all money went to them. All dealings by phone/letter until the day I took delivery. Excellent service and a saving of £2k. UK car, not a dodgy import! And by way of comparison it cost me £200 more than my Audi A4 1.9TDi SE six years ago!
  • Ford Ka PAS and spark plugs 25 Aug 2006 (Forum)
The seller had the garage look at it, and they drained the PAS fluid, flushed the system through and refilled it (documented in the s/h). This apparently seemed to cure the problem for a week or so, but it returned. By which time the seller had her new car and decided to knock a couple of hundred off the price for my sister, and left it at that.
