Why does my Volvo V70 use so much oil? 24 Mar 2012 (Ask HJ)

astra 2.0 di oil change 14 Sep 2002 (Forum)
overfilled of course. i suppose this means no more quick just warmed up engine drains (unless you want to wait 1 hour for the oil to drain, which isn't so quick!). of course you could do the filters, tyres whatever while waiting but if you put the plug back in after 10 minutes there'll be at least 1/2 litre of old oil still in there. and to top it all, if it's true for me then it's true for all the opel/vx mechanics as well when they do an oil change - mmm, sounds like the customer's paying for the same oil twice!! -

Peugeot 207 HDI Sport - MOT Failed 15 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Hi, My Peugeot just failed it's MOT Smoke Test, the reading was 2.07m-1, and I think the max limit it 1.5m-1. KwikFit advised that an oil and filter change, with some additived should resolve. Are they being honest? I last changed the oil and all filters approx 2 years ago, would an oil/filter change actually improve the smoke? -
VW Polo MK5 Oil change- wheres the sump? 8 May 2007 (Forum)
Simple question, where is the oil sump on the MK 5 Polo? Did the change on 1.9 mk 3 Golf, 1.0l mk 4 (early) polo, then came to do the 1.9sdi mk5 polo and got stuck! Any ideas where it is? Im thinking it is under the cover under the car, but dont want to removed it and check- its a little wet out there and i gotta lay down under the car to do it! -

On drive oil & filter change at -1c pics 15 Feb 2009 (Forum)
All went well until i was refilling the sump when it started to snow and I had to hunch over the filler cap with my body to stop snow flakes going in with the oil. (ok ) Pic 1, shows the extractor I use - the old oil has just been poured back into the Mobil container ready for disposal. http://www.forumpics.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/oilchange1.jpg/ Pic 2, the filter and sealing ring. http://www.forumpics.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/oilchange2.jpg/ If you look closely at the sealing ring - you can see the snow `particles` This oil change is at only 4,000 miles - last changed in August 08. -
Toyota Hilux Tiger (2000 - 2005) - Interim oil change...dealer or me. 18 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I know its not everyone's cup of tea but we have a Hilux pick up. It's only done 2000 miles but it will be getting its first of many between sevice oil changes at about 3000 miles. Sounds too soon i know but i've always looked after my cars in a similar way and i reckon it pays, so don't try to dissuade me. Any of you who would find that type of motor on your shopping list used (say 3 of 4 years old) would you be happy enough for me to have receipts to prove that i've done my own interim oil changes, or would it make the world of difference if the dealer had done all the oil services? -
Audi 80 gearbox oil change 22 Mar 2004 (Forum)
My car is an Audi 80 2.0E Sport 1995 model type B4 and after 97k miles thought best to change the gearbox oil especially as I intend to keep the car for sometime. Service book states that this is filled for life, surely oil must deteriate over time. My first problem is finding the correct spline bit to undo the drain plug. -
V70 Oil Changes 25 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I'm picking up my V70 D5 later this week. Its done 17k so with 12,000 miles service intervals, it could do with an interim oil / filter change pdq (as generally recommended for long life in the backroom). My question is where should I get this done, as I am a tad reluctant to pay Volvo dealer labour charges. If I go to Kwik Fit or similar what oil should I specify and would this have any effect on the Volvo warranty? -

Volkswagen Touran II (2010 - ) - 2009 1.9tdi Engine oil for time & distance service 11 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I believe that EDGE is a fully synthetic oil. If this is what is in the engine on delivery, will it be better to stay with this and only do a 10,000 mile oil and filter change, or would semi-synthetic oil and filter change at 5,000 miles give better protection? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1.8 petrol, wrong oil for 2 months 21 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Message from my colleage at work: I've just found out that 2 months (c.2k miles) ago Kwik Fit put the wrong oil in my car during an oil change. The engine is now sounding lumpy. Kwik Fit claim as it's only been 2 months there will have been no long term damage done and have simply offered a free oil change as a resolution. -
skoda fabia 1.9tdi 2003 17 Feb 2006 (Forum)
How long does this engine need to run with non pd oil for damage to be done (& what would the damage be)? Skoda serviced the car in September but the receipt showed normal oil being used. i noticed the mistake the day after and they changed the oil within 100miles. they also insisted that the receipt had been filled in incorrectly and that pd oil had been used (i wasn't so sure and insisted on the oil change). -
