  • Damp Cavaliers 6 Jan 2001 (Forum)
Reading through postings on this site I am led to believe late model Cavaliers and early Vectras suffer from problems with damp affecting the ECU connections. Are there any measures one can take to reduce this when having to leave car parked outside during the winter.

  • Ford Mondeo MK4 ecoboost 240hp Powershift - Monde MK4 ecoboost 240 , MAP/MAF idle value ? 21 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Hi, everyone, I got some turbo issue there. When I boost reach 1.3 bar(or less) the ecu just lock turbo , limit the boost bar to only 0.5bar,  restart the car, lock will reset, but if pressure reach 1.3 bar it will lock again. The ECU is modified by Superchip(UK), and it worked over 4 years, so I don't think remap is the reason.
  • Honda Accord 2.2 i-CDTi - To Remap or Not to Remap? 10 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Afternoon everyone. I've a 56-plate Accord i-CDTi and I'm umming and arring over whether or not to remap the ECU. I had a new clutch and flywheel (LUK) fitted earlier this year and all manner of suspension components replaced the year before that. The car gets a full service and oil change every year from a trusted garage that I've been using for years, so the car is well looked after.
  • Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 auto 60 plate - Loss of power/no warning lights/useless dealer 13 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Itas done this twice whilst joining the mway and I consider it dangerous !  Dealer has changed ECU and air mass meter (this was flagged in the ECU) but the fault still persists. I'm going to try and reject it but if its a known and simple fix..... PS Dealer is useless
  • Peugeot 307 - Peugeot 307 won't start 10 Feb 2016 (Forum)
So now it won't start (previously sounded like it would but then just turned over) and the STOP and engine management lights have come on. Could the ecu have forgotten the key code stopping it from starting? Or could the ecu be damaged now? ( was only replaced two years ago) the key fob still works on the central locking if that's relevant.(I'm an absolute car novice) Looking for ideas what it could be as MOT expires tomorrow and has had over £1000 of work done in last two years so can't keep throwing money at it and weighing up whether it's worth keeping as I've paid out more than its value in repairs already.

  • Volkswagon Golf S 04 - Steering Wheel Won't Lock VW Golf S 2004 28 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi guys   recently just had my ECU repaired due to a fried circuit board because some idiot i know decided not to put the jump leads on right when i let them use my car to jump start theirs. cost me about £575 in total for a full service aswell so not sure if thats cheap really for a repair on the ecu and a full service plus a fuel pump relay   Recently though my steering will not lock and it feels really light, like i can full lock the wheels with the engine not running and the key out of the ignition, today i had a problem getting my engine to start like the wheel had locked and you needed to nudge it to the left or right a little before turning the ignition on   i do not understand why this happened when the wheel was unlocked whats the problem does anyone know ?

  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.8 TDCi glow-plug warning light problem 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
OK, My local garage (non-Ford) has been trying to sort out a problem on my TDCi Focus - namely glow-plug light coming on/engine cutting out. The fault codes are p1200 - injector/wiring/ecu, and p0251, wiring/injector pump/ecu. They have tested the Turbo - OK, injectors, again OK, and pump, ok. Also wiring & hoses OK, but a bit warn - done 190k. So, any ideas anyone! What has happened now since being in the garage was what looked like an oil leak (under engine), but checking the dip-stick all OK, so seems to be when engine on.

  • Vauxhall Astra Immobiliser?? 18 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Checked the fuel pump - No power was going to the fuel pump I then bridged the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump ran OK (didn't try starting the car in case I damaged anything) From this I concluded (rightly or wrongly) that either the fuel pump relay is not working or the relay is not receiving a signal from the ecu to "switch on" the relay and allow power to run to the pump. I was wondering if this "switch on" signal to the relay is given by the ecu immobiliser, I have no mil lights or other warning lights coming up on the dashboard.

I can see the shielded wires coming from the solenoid, from under the shield, and have thought about putting an ignition live straight to it, but the thought of backfeeding the ECU gives me the jitters. I would be very grateful for some expert advice please!
  • VW Passat 1.8 20v Mis-Fire 29 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I have since checked the wiring from the coil plug back to the air flow module and from the module back to the ECU, the result being that i have good continuity through the wiring. Does this problem sound like ECU or air flow module. Can any body help?
