  Hi I hope you can help me. I have a Mazda 6 2007 Diesel (DPF) estate and I have recently noticed a oil leak from the cam cover the Gasket seems okay. I think it might be due to pressure in the cam cover how do I check the engine breather (PCV) is working correctly.

  I drive 40000 miles a year and have a budget of about 8k to spend max with a 5 year old i30 as p/x. What would you recommend. Mazda 6 diesels are in my budget with around 50k on the clock are they still unreliable? I've heard a few horror stories. Also considering a petrol Avensis but worried about mpg. Any advice is appeciated.

  I have 2005 Mazda 6 estate 2.0 diesel. Cambelt changed last month at 56,000 miles and water pump checked. Recently it has started making a whirring noise on acceleration both in and out of gear. Someone has suggested it could be the alternator bearings or possibly the power steering leaking.

  Hi, I have a 55 plate Mazda 3, whilst driving today the Slip Indicator warning light just came on.  I always associated this with adverse road conditions which cause traction to be lost.  I recall seeing this during the snowy periods early this year.

  Hi. My Mazda needs a major service (75000 miles) and the cam belt is due for a change. It is not the latest model but the one before registerd in '07 You always recommend changing other bits and bobs at the same time (tensioners and plastic pulley wheels etc) What specifically should I ask the garage to change when renewing the cam belt on this make and model?

  ....... it was first launched? Mazda are releasing a 20th anniversary edition. Thats 2 decades of pretty much the same car! It debuted when the Citroen XM was European Car of the Year. In the same year, the Rover Metro was launched, and Skoda 130L, Lada Riva 1200L and Yugo 511 were all still about!

  Been considering one of these latest offerings from Mazda.But a price tag of £21000 for basicly what is an mx5 we're almost in Z4 territory.And the dealers won't budge on price.I suspect that Mazda regard the soft top as their heritage and realise that the coupe may become too popular.Hence they keep the prod numbers down and prices high.It's got leather ,2.0 litre engine climate, heated seats and all the usual lsd ,dsc etc-but is it worth it?

  A colleague's company BMW is due for replacement in April, but he has to have decided and ordered by January. He is quite keen on getting a Mazda 6 but he has heard that this model is coming up for a facelift soon and is a little cautious. He asked me, but I don't really pay much attention to news about new cars (I prefer to run older cars), so thought I'd ask you guys.

  My Mazda 6 diesel (136 bhp) has a very strange intermittent problem. Sometimes on tickover it will just cut out, and while it does'nt seem to do it while driving normally, it is very worrying when you are at a junction waiting for a gap and it "dies" on you.

  A few days back I posted in a thread (can't remember which one) that the Mazda USA website revealed their cars there are fitted with Telematic Control Units which are activated by Mazda before delivery and thereafter automatically transmit a vast amount of data back to Mazda.

  Some report it also happening at boot seams & one reports the same at the windscreen seam and another at the door sills. UK Mazda forums seem to show 2003 2004 cars suffering it, with heavy blistering evident. USA showing full perforation. This is significant. Mazda at first touch up (which fails since the corrosion is inside-to-outside) and then replacing the wheelarch and rear quarter panels.

  The fault cleared. The thing is the Mazda only has one reservoir shared by brake and clutch systems. Probably a common arrangement but not one I had ever considered I assume a leak in the clutch cylinder can therefore result in brake system failure?

  After searching the net i've only found two people who have had a mazda 6 sport in both generations, and they differ on their opinions. I'm wanting a car with more 'zoom zoom' and the prices on the 1st gen sport with the 2.3 engine seem pretty good to me, but I love the shape of the 2nd gen The new engine is 9bhp 'superior' and benefits from direct injection so I'm assuming that fuel consumption would stay about the same as although the new engine is more powerful, direct injection is supposed to be more economical (as supported by Mazda's published 'figures').

  I have a late 2002 Mazda MPV 2.0 turbo diesel. Not sure if this is a problem or if it's normal as we've not had it long, but sometimes when it started from cold within the first mile or so there's a noise like a vacuuum cleaner coming from under the bonnet, close to the bulkhead, it lasts for about ten minutes or until you turn off the engine.
