Three bulbs blown within 48 hours? Haunted car? 11 May 2009 (Forum)
Never had any trouble with bulbs in this car, yesterday I asked my dad to move his car up so I could park behind him and noticed one of his rear tail lights was out. My dad the next day went and got a replacement and fitted it himself after showing him what to do the day before. He was very proud of his acheivement until I pointed out the other tail light had gone! -
Peugeot 806 MPV (1995 - 2003) - 2002 2.0 HDi 16v Engine cuts out 17 Mar 2009 (Forum)
My 806 will cut out but not all the time you can go drive it for miles on the motorway at 80+ with no problems, but then as soon as you put your foot down flat to the floor through the gears or need more power to turn up a hill it will cut out if you then turn off ignition and start it again it works fine like nothing happened you can even put your foot down and it wont cut out again, it seem very random. but if you then park up over night or leave for a period of time it go's through the same process again The engine managment light do come on but after about 4 starts it go's out, the car was going into limp mode before (which is now ok) and i have spent loads on garage bills and parts its had Tank fuel pump fuel fillter housing cam and crank sensors airflow meter air fillter breathers cleaned this is a new problem and i cant afford to take it back to garage , would this be a problem with the fuel pressure switch or the connector ? -
BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - - Blue smoke, anyone know a good indie in Leics ? 12 Oct 2007 (Forum)
A colleague bought a BMW about a month ago and has arrived at work this morning with some problems. The car is a 330i SE 52 reg. and done 141,000. The car has been fine until he was on the way to work this morning when it started smoking. The smoke is blue (oil we assume). We have been looking at the car in the car park and can find nothing wrong with it. When the engine is revved it throws out a cloud of blue smoke. -
Golf MkIV Fuel starvation/throttle issue 5 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Car: 2001 Golf MkIV, 72,000miles, petrol, 1.6 I first had this problem in Feb 2006. As I was pulling into a car park the engine cut out on me at low revs. Couldn't get it started normally. Got the AA out and the guy reckoned it was a throttle potentiometer problem. He started the car by manually opening the fuel valve. -
antiroll bar link keeps failing vectra 10 May 2007 (Forum)
a couple of months later the ns started making knocking noises with steering to left or right. the gaitors on the link appeared perfectly fine and no play was detected pulling the link by hand. you could feel the link vibrating after a knock induced by the steering movement. its interesting that even with both front wheels off the ground it was still knocking. both sides were agained changed just to rule out. -
Daewoo Matiz Nightmare Update 5 Jan 2007 (Forum)
How-ever, when they opened the drivers door, the seal at the top of the door, about the centre top had droplets of water on the inside, and are confident that it is dripping in from here striaght to the floor, when it is parked up and raining hard. The seal looks ok, anyway, they have bent the door, ever so slightly to make a better seal at the top of it where it is coming in. 1. What would one suggest to make the seal better. It does look fine. 2. -
IAM driving techniques 17 Nov 2004 (Forum)
So far it has been well worth it and I am ironing out bad habits picked up from eight years of driving. I would certainly recommend it to anyone else. However, while most of their suggestions seem fine, what are other BackRoomers thoughts on these two that I'm not sure about: 1. No eye contact with anyone except motorcyclists, with whom you should always try to make eye contact with. The biker bit seems sensible, acknowledging you have seen them. -
Megane coolant loss 11 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I topped it up with some water (had no coolant to hand), and drove home and the car was fine temperature wise. Checked the coolant level again, and it had dropped right down. So it seems to be loosing coolant, but there are no obvious leaks, no dripping or crystal formations anywhere. I'm hoping this isn't the head gasket on the way out! -
BMW 316i auto box slipping (E36)? 16 Mar 2003 (Forum)
My experience of autos is minimal to be honest. I've heard that older BMW autoboxes can self-destruct if revved in Park or Neutral so I wonder if this one is going the same way. -
Warning!! Is this a con?? 8 Apr 2001 (Forum)
He had a letter from a company I believe called Security International somewhere on the South coast stating that his car ( the make and reg. no. were on the letter ) had been illegally parked on December 29th 2000 somewhere else down South and as a result had been clamped. The clamp had been removed without authorisation and as a consequence he as to pay a £30 fine. If he did not comply proceedings would be commenced. -

C3 Opinions 8 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I'd sat in the C3 in the showroom a couple of months back and couldn't get my 6'2" cuddly frame comfortable, but in this car I fitted just fine. The only downside is that with me in the front seat, you can forget about anyone else sitting behind as there was very little legroom left. Rear visibility is a bit iffy when reverse parking, the back pillar (C?) -
Road rage - moi? 8 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Why of course, ma?am, you take the space, I?ll find another?. Parked my car, we all ran like hell to the courtroom, case was heard. Kids fined 11 and 7 dollars respectively. End of story. ?That was road rage? says my boozy friend. ?Couldn?t be, says I, I wasn?t on the road.? -
Kia XCeed - Kia Xceed PHEV review 8 Oct 2021 (Forum)
I managed to get a First Edition model which has every conceivable option on it.To name a few it has a power tailgate, electric memory seats, sunroof, heated seats in the front and rear, heated steering wheel, cooled seats, digital dash board and every safety item such as blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, collision avoidance etc. It comes with front and rear parking sensors and camera and even parks itself!. I have installed a type 2 charger at my house and after plugging the car in,the charging takes approx 2 and half hours from empty to full and costs 45p per charge on cheap rate night time electricity. The car comes with an app on the phone to set charging times, lock and unlock the car and check various other thing remotely on the car. -
VW cc 2016 - VW Group cars with 02252 Generator fault on OBD 20 Jun 2020 (Forum)
So a typical short drive with start stop heated seats lights on etc will take more out of the battery!!! So many are using SMART battery chargers which is fine if the car is parked up for weeks but a modern car should be able to be parked for two weeks and start up ??? If you have the 02252 generator fault code and U100800 error then please get the modified wiring harness fitted this goes from the Alternator/generator to the battery. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 XSi Phase 1 has my head gasket gone? 16 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Gasket changed and drive away, still leaking and now there's white emulsion on the oil filler cap. not only that it's pushing oil up through the spark plug threads. I assume the head gasket's gone and give up hope and park it up in the garage. It's been parked 6 months. Now it's been driven, around 10 miles. Didn't overheat, engine seems to run ok, and it drives fine. Does still steam up. The oil on the dipstick is clean but there is some more emuslion around the cap. -
Ford Fiesta 2003 1.25 LX - EAC Fail 23 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I restarted it and it still was flashing EAC Fail and was in what i now know is limp home mode, i got it home with it cutting out when stationary and turning right (what fun). When parked up at home I waited for my dad to get back and look at it and he switched it on and all seemed well. He took it round the block and it was fine. So we assumed it'd just had a 'funny turn' but got the AA out and the bloke could find no wrong but suggested the throttle body might need seeing to. -
Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - First 1000 miles... 17 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Feels really solid and has an aura of class that's indistinguishable from the Golf. And has a far superior toy count over a Golf SE - dual zone climate control, parking sensors, electric folding mirrors, headlamp washers, quality touchscreeen stereo with an SD card slot, etc, etc.... I find the seats very good, the perfect blend of comfort and support. As for the exterior, it's fine, looks handsome in Arctic Green (silver if you don't look too closely), and the headlights on dipped beam are amazingly good, that I hardly miss not having Xenons. -
Getting even the San Francisco way 10 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Fine with me. So now, I still put letter on the windshields of illegally parked cars in my neighborhood, and I even occasionally call DPT, but when they persist and insist of doing what they want, they get the egg. -
Audi A4 B6 - Stuttering engine then stall - 2004 1.9 TDI 23 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Cleared blockage and dried out relays and all appeared good. 2 days later I got CEL light and code P0230 but car still ran fine. 3 days after this, as I was arriving home from a long drive on motorway the car started to stutter at about 10mph and then when I parked up and started it again, rpm was jumping up and down in idle and stalling, then it cranked but wouldn't start.
