MX5 Auto advice required!!!! 31 Oct 2006 (Forum)
And if it is an import, what are the differences to owning a UK car - insurances, MOTs, etc. It's >3years old and currently has an MOT so I'm guessing it's type approved - the speedo is in mph. Cheers everyone, any info / opinions that don't include me changing jobs to Toni&Guy would be great. -
Car advice please - economy AND pace! 11 Jul 2006 (Forum)
My much loved Impreza WRX import has to go - a change of circumstances meaning 20,000 miles a year and a recent engine rebuild (ouch!) has forced the issue... I'm thinking that one of these modern turbo diesels which handles well may be the way to go? -
Downsizing from company Mondeo 22 Dec 2005 (Forum)
He has worked out that it would be slightly cheaper for him to run his own car, bought 6months-2years old, than it would be to continue with a new company Mondeo. The replacement car would likely be Focus-sized, with decent bootspace still important, but cabinspace not so much. It must be diesel (for driving preference) and have not dissimilar performance to his current 130bhp diesel. He's not really fussed about image - good value is more important. -

Proposed F1 changes. 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Having controlled brakes/electronics/tyres e.t.c. Removing auto gearboxes/traction control would mean more driver input. One important area to address is the difficulty of overtaking.Ridiculous short braking areas combined with aerodynamic disturbance when following a car closely means overtaking is rare.-Remove carbon brakes/massively reduce aerodynamic effiency. -
Dealer Franchises 9 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Moving metal is obviously more important than the whole package No wonder I was so unimpressed when I did look beyond my local when seeking a brand new vehicle. I am sure I could have bought cheaper, but the extra was worth every penny. -
Any - Fuel prices 30 Aug 2023 (Forum)
It’s being blamed in distribution issues caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, despite the fact that we haven’t imported any from Russia this year. And supermarkets holding onto a greater margin on fuel sales. But we have bought 6.2 million barrels of jet fuel from India, which came from Russia… -

Used car advice needed please 10 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Im reluctant to get diesel with all the pollution stories etc. Economy is the most important factor hopefully with a bit of power 100bhp is ideal. A hatchback, 5dr with a budget of 4-5k, any suggestions are welcome. -
MOT advisory that means nothing 7 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Funny one this-When perusing the MOT history site GOV.UK for suitable cars I've spotted for sale on Autotrader or elsewhere-I constantly see the MOT advisory-"Engine covers obscuring some components". What is the tester looking for here? Are the engine covers at fault/illegal ? if it's that important for the tester to look underneath why wern't the covers removed( and hence replaced after inspection). -
Daimler Double Six - Export specifications 14 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I'm in the market for a late model Daimler Double Six ( series 3 ( 6.0L ), and have seen a couple of re-imports of Japanese cars, ( which have the advantage of being RHD ). There's a Haynes owners manual that covers the American export model, but I can't seem to find any specification info for the Japanese export model. -

proton - Why have Proton failed to get established? 7 May 2013 (Forum)
Are they established in mainland Europe? What is the set up with Proton UK? Do they import themselves or do they have an agent acting on their behalf? I presume their cars are generally reliable? The old stuff use to be bagged Mitsubishi's and ran forever. Not so sure on the latest offerings? -
What to Buy - 4x4 £4000 29 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi all, I've got £4000 to spend and looking for a family soft offroader 4x4. Ideal for family needs and with covering 10k miles a year petrol or diesel is not important. Looking at RAV4, X-Trail, Freelander, Grand Vitara and can pick up some 50k milers on 03/53 reg's on each of the models I've mentioned. Which would be your choice? -
Volvo XC90 - Rear Shocker ! 4 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Just found out we need new rear shock absorbers for our 2007 XC 90 (75,000 miles). Volvo are asking £884.40 for the parts and £110 labour. Given this is an important job, is this a fair price to pay? And, having just had a 4 x wheel alignment last month, due new tyres will this have to be done again at extra cost? Thanks. -
Toyota MR2 (1990 to 2000) - 91 2.0 Big end shells. 5 Jun 2009 (Forum)

Lotus Carlton 4 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Seriously, £20k for a 17 year old car, assuming they do get this price, what was the price of these brand new? My dad had a 2.0GLi version (in the days when that "i" was important) and I remember driving it as a raw 17 year old, newly passed my test, and twice spinning it 180 degrees due to the rwd power.
