• Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - Battery Removal 17 Jan 2010 (Forum)
  In the handbook that came with the car, it says to simply remove the car battery, removing the NEGATIVE wire before the POSITIVE wire. The wires are slightly oiley and do not simply "remove" The battery is flat and I want to take it out to charge it. The clamp has been removed, I just don't know how to take the wires off.

  My 53 plate peugeot 406 LX Estate recently started suffering battery charge fault warning on the dash, then ABS and Airbag warning respectively then the car gives up and conks oot ! had the alternator reconned and also new battery but its still doing it??? recently fitted new com2000 unit (indicator/wiper unit), which is the wrong one but works all the same, cud this be the problem?

  hi, ive got a prob with the battery charge warning lamp on my fiesta ,it stays ON when i switch the ignition off and remove the key, the alternator is functioning with the engine running and the battery warning light goes out, ive looked at the wiring diag and as far as i can make out there is an in line diode in the warning bulb connection that comes off the alternator multi plug could it be that that has failed causing a reverse voltage?

  This was with the battery out on charge, with jump leads from my car directly onto the Proton's battery leads. When a new battery was fitted it fired up first time. Why would it not start when connected to my car? (Tried off and engine running)

  My local garage recently fitted my Micra with a new battery after the old gave out after only 10 years! and whilst I could check the water levels in the old one, the new one appears to be sealed. However, in the guarantee it states that the battery must be checked regularly for water levels.

  Hello, My G-reg 1.4 340 has been sitting idle for 3 months over winter. I've changed the plugs, leads and distributor bits but the thing remains dead. Flat battery I know but even when jump leads connected it only manages one turn before stopping. I disconnected one of the volvo battery leads (from the battery terminal), assuming the jump leads may have been trying to charge the volvo battery, but to no avail.

  The Hybrid battery on my vehicle will extinguish at some future point and will ordinarily require replacing. Will it be necessary to do so or will the car simply continue to operate as a non-hybrid powered by the engine only?

  I consider buying a 'JUMPSTAR(TM)' emergency car battery booster. I have heard that some cars with advance sat nav and/or anti-theft devices may not be compatible. Is there any such known difficulty?

  Hi,  My daughters car is having problems with her battery, when i took it out of the car for charging up i saw it had a sticker on it which said Recharge on 12th month 2010. I am wondering what this means. Is it the end of the warrenty.Thanks.

  no, not for the car battery, but to plug in to the cigar lighter and charge 2 or 4 AA cells. Does anyone know of such a thing. I'd try googling, but thanks to a burning lorry on the M62 I've spent 4 hours to travel 70 miles and my brain is a bit fried at the moment ;-)

  Hi all, This morning, I was faced with the sound of the starter motor slowing down to a halt. The battery had finally died. Not a problem I thought, especially as it had happened on the drive. The battery was on its last legs anyway. I managed to purchase the new battery the same morning. I dried all the spark plugs as the engine had been flooded on trying to start from the old battery.

  Might be worth checking yours people, something we tend to forget, get those fobs open and see what batteries you need, maybe get a few in stock if you haven't, already.

  I have driven the car as normal for a week or so and the engine management light has not come on.. then today I drove the car and the battery light has now come on does anyone know if this means that maybe there is likely to be an alternator problem?? Or would a VW Beetle"s battery light just come on for a simple battery change? As I have had this car for 10 years and cant remember this happening before I have changed the battery 3-4 times over the years and can't remember seeing that light before .. normally I would just have problems starting it.

  i have a daf leyland 45 and it wont start as of recent. it has been parked up since september 2013 with the occassional start now and then to keep engine running. its a cummins turbo engine. batteries went flat and i put them on charge and easily started it and let engine run for a while . batteries went again as they were old. discovered that one of the terminals was broken and rusty old which inturn damaged terminals of the recharged battery, so bought another battery but seems did not have much power. brought batteries with power and there was some kind of spark when i connectd battiries but i had replaced damaged positive terminal. i discovered batteries had charged but there was an irritating buzzing as a result but leyland would not start. power is there but wont kick at all. anyone with an idea as to what might be the problem. thanks in advance.
