• Audi A4 Avant - Missing part on puchase 9 Nov 2013 (Forum)
  The menu had this option switched on. We took the car into an Audi garage and they informed us that one of the components that controlled the day-time running lights was missing. I'm about to go back to The Car Shop, but want to know where I stand legally in this situation.

  Under normal driving conditions it sems fine, i think, as I cant see any smoke in my mirors. Any ideas?     It has full audi service history, but is hitting 135,000 miles now.

  Occasionally I lose reverse gear on my 2008 Audi A3 Quattro 2.0T DSG. In reverse position the car will not move and will only rev to about 1200rpm. The only way to cure this is to turn the ignition off and re-start the engine. The car is still under warranty and been back to the dealers 3 times, but they cannot find anything wrong, I now have complained to Audi UK who have taken up the case but still want me to take the car back to the local s******s.

  My W (2000) plate Audi had covered 155k miles and has been written off by the insurance company and with the settlement, i am considering to replace it with a newer Rover 75 Cdti (2003) connisseur model with 80k miles, 1 company director since new with leather and all the equipment with it with FSH for £2700.00 Can anyone give me any information as to the general reliability of the 75 compared to an Audi A4.

  I read recently that VW are to launch the Mk6 Golf next year and as such wish to PX my 2004 Mk5 (1.9 TDI SE) to get the maximum price. I want to upgrade to an 04/54 Audi A3 (probably the 2.0TDI SE approx 50k); however I've just checked and read that similarly, Audi are to launch a new version next year. What is your view on how revamped models effect residual prices?

  I am think of buying a new Audi A4 Avant with multitronic transmission for my wife and kids. Has any one heard of any reliability problems with this gearbox? I am aware of how it works (and how the old DAF Variomatic used an ealry version of the CVT gearbox) but as an engineer myself I am only too aware that the first version of any new product ALWAYS contains bugs..I just want to be sure I am do not read stories in 2004 that contain statements like "..early Audi MultiTronic gearboxes where prone to suffer from..".

  I have had "Climate control"with my excellent but ageing Seat and I love it and wouldn't want anything inferior. The salesman was very helpful, but he insisted that the Audi today does have climate control even though they don't call it that here.

  I have recently bought a very nice 1997 Audi A4 1.8T Sport which has every conceivable extra including leather and climate control but a cassette deck where I would expect to find a CD player. I would like to upgrade it from the existing Audi 'Gamma' head unit to a CD player but would like to find the equivalent unit with a CD player.

  I didn't feel too excited at first but now I cant wait! I went a bit mad with the options list as Audi seem to have taken a lot of things that used to be standard on the old model and put them on the options list. Clever Audi! I've opted for the fancy magnetic suspension, although I have no idea if the standard option would have been good enough unfortunately.

  Not only were they expensive but I caught them charging for things they hadn't done and they failed to complete even basic tasks (eg oil change) competently. I moved to a non-franchised Audi specialist (where you actually get to talk to the man with the greasy hands), but they have been sold and no longer specialse in Audi.

  A friend of mine just called me out to help him recover a 120000 mile Audi A6 2.6 V6 avant estate that had just suffered a cam belt breakage with the inevitable engine contacts. Now obviously HJ's sound advice about cam belt replacement probably would have prevented this but now the damage is done does anyone have any first hand expreience of likely repair costs, I have said 2K at an Audi dealer but would appreciate any first hand expereience....Oh by the way the car has a FSH but probably not with anyone that knew what they were doing!!...

  Hi My Audi A4 Avant has recently developed an odd habit. Overnight, the brake lights come on on their own and stay on until I depress the brake pedal. On one particular occasion, I know that the brake lights were NOT on at 2 in the morning, but at 6, they were.

  Hi - can anyone point me in the right direction please - Audi A3 1.9tdi.e ..... Radio flicking on and off for a few times when start car - sometimes also does it when been driving for short while - the flicking on and off also seems to trigger central locking sometimes - they seem to 'click' in tandem with each other ..........??

  Hello   I was thinking of getting a second hand Audi. But I have heard the automatic gear boxes can be a problem, and very expensive to fix.   Anyone have any real experiences of these automatic gearboxes.
• Audi A6 Avant - Timing Belt 27 May 2012 (Forum)
  I have an A6 Avant 2007 that has done 62k. It is about to be serviced and the audi specialist has suggested that I get the cam belt changed. My service book says that the 'toothed' belt (which I assume is the same thing (?)) change is due at 80k. The cost of the change will be £475 so if it is not a problem to delay the change for another 15k it would be good - any ideas?
