  • Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - 03 1.2 Windscreen wipers have a mind of their own 10 May 2009 (Forum)
The fault is intermittent but annoying enough to need fixing. The car is a fairly recent purchase and has only covered 6,500m from new and is otherwise fine. Electrical problems are not my strong suit so I would much appreciate any advice, guidance or a pointer in the right direction.
  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 2002 2.0hdi 90 - Steering Rack leaking 17 Mar 2009 (Forum)
The Pug dealer told me that the cover that goes over the engine often comes loose and slowly destroys the effectiveness of the seal of the filler cap. Any tips on the racks removal will be really appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. Steve

  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - random tyre pressures 2 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have included the make of my car in case it is relevant to my question. My Jazz is 2 1/2 years old and has covered 17000 miles. Until May this year the tyres have lost pressure in a manner I would expect - equal across all tyres. Since May [I keep records] loss has been random - once the steering and brakes felt so odd I returned home.
  • What's it worth? 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi, this is the second time I have posted asking the value of a fiesta. I now have a bit more precise info than I had before. The car is an Oct 97 Fiesta 1.4 5 door Ghia, 2owners, it has done only 27,000 miles, taxed and mot'd till Oct 07. tidy and clean outside and inside. Metalic dark green. The only minus point is it has slight collision damage to the hatch which does not affect the opening/closing and w/screen wiper operation. the damage covers an area of about 250mm round.
  • Price? Fiesta 1.1 1994 3 door 19 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I have been asked by my Mother-in-Law to sell her 1994L 1.1 Ford Fiesta Freestyle 3 door in white. It has a full service history, but has only covered 31,080 miles since Jan 1994. When not in use it has been garaged, so the paintwork has a good shine before I even polish it. The condition throughout is excellent with only a single small dent from another car door and just a very small amount of rust on the rear wheel arches.
  • Smashed Sump Octavia 25 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Dealer is quoting £200 - £300, with 1.3 hours of labour. Has this happened to anyone else with a similar VAG car? and can anyone give a definite cost (London labour rates) I know that the Octavia rides very low, as does the Mk IV Golf which it is based on, and also that VAG sell steel underbelly's which replace the existing plastic cover.
  • Best mechanical anti-theft device ? 19 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Some of the devices I've been looking at, like AutoLock, don't seem like they'd withstand an attack for long, and only the full steering wheel cover locks seem to offer a degree of protection, but its seems a bit bulky looking and not ideal to carry around in my family car. Are there any other anti-theft devices I'm missing which you could recommend ?
  • Problem Escort 22 Sep 2004 (Forum)
We have a problem with my wifes car which to date local garages have been unabke to identify. The car is an N reg Escort 5 door 1.4 LX which has covered 38000 miles from new & is mainly used for short journeys of 3 miles or less at a time, not the best way to run an engine.
  • Kwik Fit 6 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Yeah I know, its like marmite, you either like them or hate them. I took my car to 3 branches and enquired about their "Free safety brake inspection".Here's what I have been told and wonder if who were right. KwikFit 1: I mentioned that 2 weeks ago my car was serviced by a specialists garage, and was told several parts needed replacing on the braking system. Therefore, can I have a 2nd opinion and have the "Free brakes Inspection" and a written quotation. They said sorry we cannot carry out the inspection, because the specialists garage will know what to replace so you're better off going back.
  • Diesel value with short trips ? 13 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I currently drive a Merc. 320 Estate petrol. Due to retire soon and need a car cheaper to run as I will be paying the bills - hence the diesel. I will cover 6,000 to 7,000 miles a year, about 60/70% of the mileage will be on short runs of a few miles and my mate reckons that I will not get the economy due to the volume of these short runs.
  • Who should foot the bill? 5 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Sorry if this has been covered previously. I recently took my car in to have some grumbling noises at low revs sorted. The garage confidently thought it was gearbox bearings. So one stripdown later, with new bearings and, oh yes, a new clutch because the late Xantia clutches can't be refitted, and a bill for £750, I drive it away and ..... no difference.
  • warranties be aware:update 28 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Original posting: ------------------ Author: Roger K. (---.cache.pol.co.uk) Date: 02-12-01 16:40 I have recently had some warranty work (used car) carried out by a well known Rover main dealer in SE London. I had a lower radiator outlet pipe split. I took the car to the dealer and explained the exact fault - I even drew a diagram for them! (I knew the precise details because I had to effect emergency repairs in order to get the vehicle to the garage) They charged me for a radiator pressure-test , saying this was a requirement of the insurers, before they would agree to the claim.
  • CO2, Tax and Tolls 12 Jun 2001 (Forum)
In addition a fixed charge takes absolutely no account of mileage driven, driving style or the standard of maintenance of the vehicle, all of which will affect the C02 output. I would also question the matter of road tolls. With a fuel price of £3.50 per gallon and a car doing 35 mpg, fuel costs 10p per mile, 7.5p of which is tax. I consider that to be quite high enough on its own. I am also miffed about the Dartford Crossing. The tolls should have finished last year when the construction cost had been covered, as agreed with the tunnel's management committee.

  • Audi Q2 - Problem with Audi Dealership 8 May 2024 (Forum)
Do you think I have cause to complain? The car has only covered 2000 miles between purchase and Mot, although I realise that cracking is not totally dependent on mileage.   Has there been a change to the MOT in regards to listing Advisories on tyres?

  • MINI Countryman 2015 - Business Edition - Clutch gone 28 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Hello, First post on this forum so apologies if this is in the wrong place. I bought the above car around July last year with around 5000 miles on the clock. Since buying the car I have done mostly motorway miles commuting back and fore to work every day. I view myself as a decent driver, and have not had any clutch break before.
