Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - 04 2.0 Possible turbo problem 5 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Today however once I came off the motorway and travelled at a 30 it was making a metallic screeching noise. At first I thought it maybe the brakes but the car does not pull to one side or the other and when turning corners there is no noticeable sound. My garage suspects it is the turbo but cannot diagnose it at the moment. Has anyone else had similar problems? -
Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 96 2.0 Major clunk after disc and pad change 27 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Changed the discs and pads and now when i am going very slow-lets say 5 MPH- and i take my foot off the accelerator there is a really loud clunk coming from the passenger side front. It does not do this when i am braking or going at higher speeds. I have checked and the caliper and wire clip is all on correct. I even put the old disc and pads back on and it was still doing it. Help Me!!!!!! -
Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 04 2.2 esp motor failure 12 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I have looked through the previous threads, they all assume I know where various parts are located on the car, I don't. I don't know if it's related but I had the brake warning light (ABS warning) come on at the same time. Thanks for any tips you might be able to pass on. -
Old, Crude Off-Roaders 11 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I had a Ford Maverick, aka Nissan Terrano 2, and thought I was king of the road sitting way up above the traffic. OK, the performance was terrible, cornering was a nightmare and braking from speed a lottery. At least I hadn't bought a Vauxhall Frontera! Maintenance was so easy because you could slide under the vehicle without jacking it up to inspect everything. 4x4s are so sophisticated these days. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.8 DT phase 1 - earth location?? 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi there, my passenger-side rear cluster go all 'disco' when the lights are on and the brake pedal is pushed. Gotta be a dodgey earth, i cud just run a wire from the earth at the back of the cluster to a new earth point but would prefer to check out the current one Problem - where is it? Got a haynes manual which says it's E6 or summink onthe wiring diagrams but doesn't say where on the car this is Any ideas Guys? -
Accelerator control. 19 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I know it is simple and logical but how often do you see people blast away from a hold up only to brake heavily at the obvious one just up the road? I was taught that accelerator control is as important as clutch control, is it taught today in either car or HGV training? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1998 1.3 Engine wont warm up 1 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hi all well my car has been through the works lately with a new exhaust, new brakes all round and most recently a new clutch. I was driving today (pretty long distance) and noticed that the engine temp gauge was still in the cool and it never changed. Now i stopped and checked the engine temp and it was'nt as hot as it usually is but there was no loss of fuel consumption or performance. does anyone have any idea what could have happened? -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 06 1.4 CD player with a mind of its own 1 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi Guys, My Daughter has an '06 Corsa which the CD player seems to make its own decisions about its volume. When you brake the volume decreases - when you speed up the volume increases!!! Fortunately it doesn't increase much but it can be 'irritating'. The car is still under manufacturers warranty but before I go to the Dealer, I'd like your views as to if its a problem or have we missed something in the manual. -
Austin (Rover) - 1988 4.0 Leyland Roadrunner. 27 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I know this is not the correct site for truck matters and I have to pick a make and model but I am looking for help with a Leyland Roadrunner with a jammed parking brake. Austin Rover seemed the most appropriate, sorry. Any site suggestions (www???) or other help will be appreciated. Thanks. No need to apologise for upsetting others ! - I'll leave it under the Austin Rover tag for now and ask the site designer to add Leyland Trucks to the Drop Down Menu. -
Kwik Fit £25 oil change - pluses and minuses 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I could scarcely buy the oil and filter for that - let alone have my tyres gone over by somebody who is desperate to sell me some new ones. They did tell me I need new front brake discs however as they were rusty round the edges, but I pointed out that I had a nice shiny new MOT, so I really didn't think so; "very well Sir". You'd have thought that if it were so urgent they'd have tried to persuade me a little harder, wouldn't you? -
Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - Which variant? 10 Jul 2008 (Forum)
The 05A was built from December 2004. I am only interested in getting the 05A model year which has CBC + Brake Assist which the 05 doesn't. How can I tell if the car I am looking at is the 05A model year? Cannot relie on just registration! I have spoken to a seller over the phone and they were unable to allocate any of these numbers on their documents or car. -
Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - Trapped stone in front disc assembly. 28 May 2008 (Forum)
After having negotiated a newly laid car park, with very fine stone, I seem to have picked up a stone (or two) between the disc and the protective backplate, on my front off-side wheel's disc brake assembly. Most of the time I don't notice it, but then suddenly it seems to get picked up and then makes some temporary grinding noises and then suddenly stops. Will it eventually fall out as I don't want to just take off the wheel, which in any case might not enable its removal. -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 04 1.3 Ka servicing 24 May 2008 (Forum)
I have patiently been awaiting the issue of a Haynes manual for the Duratec engined Ka to no avail. So, could some kind person please tell me the replacement intervals for: Spark Plugs Coolant Brake fluid Power steering fluid Transmission oil? Should/can level be checked? I assume there are no tappets to adjust? Does air conditioning need routine servicing? Any other replacement stuff I've missed? -

Stupid kids 5 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I have been told by a very good friend of mine who also happens to be a Traffic Officer that small plastic "coke type" bottle are being filled with harmful and corrosive substances such as paint-stripper, brake fluid and battery acid then left in the road for unsuspecting motorists to run over. The outcome of this will be obvious to any serious motorist. There has been 5 reported cases this week in the area my pal works in and the Police suspect its a bunch of kids who are off school this week. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 2005 d5 auto, couple of queries 25 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Hi, i've just bought a 2005 D5 SE auto, and i've heard that the autos can have problems such as coolant entering and mixing with the ATM and wear because of the going into neutral when foot on the brake thing? does anyone know if the 05 ones were affected or were the problems ironed out, its the facelift model by the way with geartronic, 5 speed i think. Thanks in advance. Just one more thing its got the sports pack with 18" wheels, do you know the original size tyres for for these wheels. -
Ford Designers 9 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Simple technology. The new Focus apparently has a warning for low tyre pressures. More important than brakes then. I have seen many complaints in other forums of the lack of thought in making it nigh on impossible to undertake basic maintainence, like changing bulbs. As has been pointed out it should be made as easy as possible. -
In gear ? 26 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I suppose it was innately learned on early shoespy transport which didn't always have much in the way of actual brakes ! It seems to annoy the hairspray off the the distaff side of the family when borrowing my car as she usually ends up kangarooing up the drive ! Just can't stop doing it tho' ;-) So who's for it and who's agin' ?
