  Hi, I was just looking for some advice about which used car is best to buy? I'm only 21 and not got a huge budget (1500 is probably top end). I realise that I'll be looking at an old car but I'm at a loss as to which ones would still be considered reliable?

  My wifes after a newer Zafira, has anyone bought one from BCA? probably ex mobility or 2 or 3 year old, money is tight at present, I know it may not be a massive saving but are there any pit falls buying at auction as opposed to say Car Giant where bought are present zafira, we like the zafira as we can just bung everything in them and go for weekends away, my wifes only using the car for short commuting, shopping that sort of thing.

  Earlier this year I purchased a 4 year old Mercedes ML from a large car dealer. It was £17,000 with 55k miles on the clock. After 2 months the parking sensors became eratic and after 3 months they had stopped working, I'd now driven 5k miles in the car.

  Just in case anyone is interested I got the following info from the DVLA: Cars built before 1973 registered exempt - 193558 Cars built before 1973 SORNed  - 57773 1973 to 1987 (> 25 yrs old) VED paid - 230470 1973 to 1987 SORNed - 257977 A quarter of a million owners (including me) refuse to pay 200 quid for a few miles a year.

  I'm in a terrible dilemma.  I'm a 23-year old male, and I want to buy a new car.  I've finally narrowed myself down to either a Volvo C30 1.6D SE Drive, or a Volkswagen 1.6TDI SE Bluemotion (5dr).  They're both a similar price for similar spec.

  Just wondering waht most peole have to pay in total for their car per month? If we dont include fuel which is very subjective. Exclude company cars as not relevant. What make and model and how old, was it bought new or used and for how much? Include loan cost per month but state over how many years.

  Currently driving a rental car as mines off the road after an accident. Been given a 58 plate Ford. Already the bonnet is rusting (i assume after a stone chip). I remember old Fords always used to rust but it appears nothings changed on modern ones.

  Friend of mine is being offered by his tight fisted bosses a second hand company car. To whit a 53 plate Jan 2004 registered AUDI A4 AVANT TDI Sport 1896cc. We know its CO2 157g/km off the V5. We know where to find list prices of NEW cars but where in hell do you find the list price of an old car?

  I stand a chance of a job which comes with a company car (Passat 1.9 Tdi) I have a 2 month old C4 Picasso with just over 2000 miles on the clock. It is a 2.0HDI Exclusive with EGS. Having both is not possible. So, bearing in mind the permutations of tax on co' car, available for private use, no road fund license or insurance to pay, depreciation of Citroen value, laying it up for duration(?).....

  Just got back from a weeks holiday in Finland where we hired a Nissan Note and did about 1200 miles. The car was virtually new and did everything it was supposed to do in an OK sort of way but oh dear how absolutely boring. If it was a colour it would be magnolia. Got back to Stansted and picked up 12 year old Pug 306 with heavy clutch, rattly bits and pieces and no aircon but what a joy to drive after the Nissan.

  A couple of things caught my eye in tonight's Car wars program. 1. The "unmarked" Impreza the police were using had 4 huge aerials mounted on a square plate in middle of roof. Even from a distance, that would say to me - unmarked police car!! Are these aerials used for tracking tracker-type devices?

  Hi We purchased a pre-reg MB in Dec 2004 on the 54 plate. We knew that soon it would look old with the 05 plate on the market, but purchased the car nevertheless. are there any plates out there that can be bought relatively cheapely that makes on believe the car is 05 reg EG: L105 VCY actually reads, lima, 1 , 0 , 5 VCY or anything similar that reads as the years reg with 105 following it and the three alapbetical numbers Thanks in advance Lucian PS: We know it costs around the 150 for transfer fees, and we don,t want any silly comments - just helpful ones please!!!!

  Hello all, I just thought that i would try and get your ideas on what you would consider as a sound first car for a 18 year old bloke. I have thought about the usual cars such as Novas and Fiestas however i feel that they are far too common and the youngsters that drive them have given them a bad name. I would like something a bit more original and grown up which i would be able to hold onto for a good number of years.
