  • Ford Fiesta - Flat battery 23 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Can anybody give me some expert battery advice? My 2010 Fiesta auto is used for short journeys, almost never needing road lights. Unused for a week recently because of broken spring. Today it wouldn't start because battery was flat.
  • Renault Clio - Electrical problem- 18 May 2016 (Forum)
He knows nothing about cars. He bought a 2002 Clio 1.4 petrol saloon. He had some trouble starting it but now the battery is flat. Not a glimmer from it. The car has stood immobile now for 3 months. I am coming to visit and he wants me to bring some tools and a new battery.. I am wondering if I replace the battery and the fault is elsewhere the new battery will simply drain.

  • Chrysler voyager 2003 - Problems with key fob/battery and lights 18 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Hope someone can help. I have been having problems with my battery which is about eight months old. Car constantly has trouble starting although I have had battery and alternator checked and all seem ok. I have been told that I do not use car enough and due to size the battery does not have time to recharge.
  • Smart City Coupe - using an emergency jump starter 12 Jun 2011 (Forum)
However on the instructions of the starter it states that you should put the red positive clamp on the battery and the black negative clamp on a metal part of the car and NOT on the negative part of the battery.  To start my car I have put the black clamp on the negative on the battery as smart cars are made of plastic and the battery is in the footwell of the passenger seat and no metal is available.
  • Citroen C3 (2002 - 2009) - Changing the battery; what's going on ? 22 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I fitted the C3 with a new battery this morning. Very pleased with the simple plastic catch that locates the battery. Hoping to save the radio stations and the date and time, I plugged in my home-made power supply which is a Nokia phone charger giving 11.7 volts and a fused cigarette lighter plug.

  • Toyota Landcruiser 80 Amazon (1990 to 1998) - 1993 4.2 Charging batteries 8 May 2008 (Forum)
I tried the charger on a reasonable well charged car battery (or two, in the case of the Landcruiser), and the meter moves up to 2 or 3 amps, and the voltage is nearly 14 volts, which seems normal. Any idea why it doesn't seem to be charging the battery in the jump pack?
  • Fried Batteries 18 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Flat again this afternoon. This time, the EA man added a new dimension. He said hot weather can "fry the battery" by leading to the production of excess voltage and cause it to "consume itself". Has anyone else out there experienced this? I am intrigued as I drove a variety of cars for 16 years in a country where every day was a hot as it ever gets in the UK and never had a fried battery.
  • Flat Battery vw polo 13 May 2003 (Forum)
When i returned to the long stay car park yesterday the car was dead as a dodo with a totally flat battery! The car is a polo - no alarm - and the VW assistance bloke who came out when i got the car home said that it was normal for a battery to run down over 2 weeks, although the manual with the car says it should be ok for 4 weeks.

  • Ford focus 2008 titanium - Why is my battery light on? Ford focus 2008 27 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Just looking for some advice, passenger interior mirror light was left on for approx 3 hours. Car started fine, then drove home on the motorway for 40 mins.  Almost home, the battery light came on. Newish battery (September 22).  What are peoples thoughts on cause? New alternator maybe? Have MOT in a week, Is it OK to drive until then or am I going to be stranded somewhere?
  • Renault Clio II - Stop & battery light flickering on 24 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Whilst driving my clio at night the stop light and battery light flickers on and off, its sometimes that quick that if you blink you miss it. its also doing it during the day but not so noticable.  I have taken off all the earth to body & body to engine cables and cleaned them thoroughly. also ther area that they bolt to as well as the battery terminals. therefore I am now confused as to what is causing the lights to flicker.
  • Alfa Spider - dead car battery after purchase of second hand car 22 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Does anyone know if the sale of Goods Act ( i.e. the car being not fit for purpose) covers buying a second hand car from a dealer, when the next day after the sale, the battery had to be replaced because it was at the end of its 'life' and would not start the car following a frosty morning?   In other words, is there any possibility of recovering payment for the new battery so soon after the purchase?

  • Mitsubishi Shogun Sport - Can anyone help please 12 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Dear all, Having just purchsed Mitsubishi Montero Left hand drive second hand, unfortunately it did not come with Owners manual! Question is What is the preferred car battery for this model as it has a smaller car battery in at the moment, which is a little under powered probably for the process of starting the car. I envisage having to change it after the winter and I would like to purchase the correct battery, and use this battery in my other smaller Citreon ZX
  • volkswagon polo 1.2 2002 - Battery problems 2 Nov 2010 (Forum)
My Mum's Polo has a history of flat batteries, three of them. the AA keep turning up and supplying "new" ones (I'm told). The advice she has recieved it to "leave it running on the drive for 20 minutes" this isn't any good as it upsets neigbours.
  • Key fob batteries 28 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I paid more than a fiver for two 3 volt batteries for the remote entry fob for my car. They had the right code number on them but were a different make from the old ones, and were matt finish rather than shiny. They don't work. Today my SiL gave me a 3v battery of the same size with a different code number on it, and of yet another make, but shiny.
  • Citroen C5 - Battery run down by 12v socket? 18 Mar 2010 (Forum)
The 12V socket had an ipod plugged into it and after about 45 min of driving it refused to go above 35mph and eventually the battery light came on. Once the ipod was unplugged everything worked ok again? Am I right in thinking the alternator should be charging the battery while the car is moving? Is this normal that this should affect the car?
