Honda CBR 600 RR - V5C/2 reference number not recognised 1 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I contacted her to say she should receive the new v5 with the old plates ck53 on it. I asked for the new v5c/2 with ck53. She said she sent the old v5 WW02 with proof of plate changes. She also said she will check if she received any new v5 from DVLA at the old address. -
Peugeot 2008 - - the saga of the u/s locking bolt 4 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Was not offered (and did not consume) coffee by any of the many staff who used it. Asked for progress report at 9.25. 'Car still in workshop - we'll take you round there'. Asked to see the offending bolt, now completely knackered as they'd had to weld an old socket or somesuch onto it to get a grip. JF to mechanic..' -
Which car to choose....... 12 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Cons: Will it be rusting in another 5 years? long back doors in car parks, possibly higher insurance, staid looks and possibly equally staid handling, harder to keep clean because of dark colour and complex alloys, resale prospects of a 140K 10 year old car. Expensive to repair if it goes wrong, and there? -
MPV SUV - Cheapest car and insurance for "less abled" 8 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I do not want diesel but not adverse to LPG, Electric or Hybrid if they exist. I say that because I have hardly any money, so it is going to be an old second hand car. I am really talking low end here I doubt I can raise £1k. Can anyone recommend a model of car, that is high up, that despite being reliable has tanked in value and is cheap to insure? -
Can I reject this paint job? 15 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I had the misfortune of someone in attempting to avoid an undertaking moped swerve and plant the corner of their car into my bumper. Fortunately neither of us were going that fast and it was only slight contact. There wasn't too much damage to my 6 month old car but a new bumper was required and the bonnet had a crease that had to be ironed out. -
Modern mainstream cars are boring. 10 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Having recently upgraded to the plush luxury (relative to what I used to have) of a 2001 Honda Accord 2.0 SE Exec, I can't help but feeling nothing more than "content". Wondering if it was just my choice of an old man's car (I'm only 27) that was causing my perfectly comfortable but equally dull driving experience I had a thrash about in a few other cars. Father in-law's 110bhp 1.9TDi Golf (Mk4) Friend's 1.8 GTi Golf (Mk4) Friend's 2.0 GTi Golf (Mk3) Brand new 1.6 Civic (courtesy car - now that did get a serious thrashing) - my Accord was in for a minor hi-fi tweak. -
Physical degeneration and the motor Car 12 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Topic, `Have your priorities of a cars features changed over time, in a way you would have once never considered? with particular reference to the ageing process.` I remember age 17yrs laughing at the `Old Man`, who was contemplating power steering on a car back in the 60`s. -
BMW 3 Series Compact - BMW Owned from New to Scrap 11 Aug 2020 (Forum)
The real lesson when cars get old is perhaps in the song by Kenny Rogers, The Gambler - knowing when to hold 'em knowing when to fold 'em, knowing when to walk away and knowing when to run. Cars a bit of a gamble but so is the rest of life too! -
Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Rear air suspension failure - again 1 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I have re-produced it here - can the moderator delete the original?] My C4 Grand Picasso has rear air suspension. Three years ago, when the car was 3 years old with 33k on the clock, both units failed (left, then right) within the space of 200miles. Now, with the car just past its 6th birthday and with 66k on the clock, I found it this morning on its back haunches again ....it had sunk overnight. -
Citroen C1 - Recover service history? 29 May 2018 (Forum)
I will be contacting dealer after weekend to see if they can shed any light. Yes this is an oversight on my part but for a car not yet 2 years old and advertised as having its FSH, I made an assumption. Also... In the servicing book the first box has a date roughly a year after purchase and a mileage figure entered. -
Vauxhall Astra 2002 1.6 - Electric Power steering not working 18 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I've had a second hand pump put in to replace the old knackered looking one. It was bought on ebay and a ' guaranteed' working item. A new battery was put in and alternator has been checked along with the relays and fuse box. There are no warning lights on the dashboard and the car drives as normal just minus the PAS. -
Toyota Corolla Verso - MMT Transmission 23 Feb 2016 (Forum)
They wanted £800 + VAT just to open up the gear box to diagnose the problem - that's not even including any parts and labour to actually fix the problem! I have had the car from a year old. Run it for 8 years (and over 130,000 miles) and had no problems other than the general maintenance stuff like tyres and brakes etc. But the high mileage and age mean the car's probably only worth about £3K at best. -
Attempted rip-off 5 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Insisted on seeing rear discs and and pads - and, guess what, they were utterly fine, just a bit of surface rust because car had been sitting for a week. Refused to pay so they jacked car up and put old brakes back. I'm just absolutely livid that garage where I've been a good customer for a decade would pull a stunt like this. -
Seat Altea XL - Broken when bought 6 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Hi there, i have a question, i bought a seat altea xl about 5months ago, i never used the aircondidion up until about 1month ago and noticed it does not work. i brought the car to the car dealership which has also a garage(the whole process until i got an appointment and final notice whats going on took 1 month). now they tell me i have to pay 385,- pund for a new aircondition pipe+sensor because it is coroded due to old age i´m pretty sure this did not happen while i used the car since i never switched on the aircondition but they say the aircondition was fine when they last checked it. -
Merc A Class - Wobbly Brakes 14 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Evening all... I'm after some pretty basic advice regarding my cheap as chips old A Class. I picked it up simply as a bargain hack, and for an S plater it's not bad; the arches are still there in all four corners and it's no more wooly to drive than any of these that I've come across (they're handy little tools but I'm no illusion that an early W168 is a 'good car') with just the usual lurching handling and spine breaking suspension characteristics! -
Very Cheap small 4x4 16 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I will only be doing around 5k miles a year so fuel not a problem. What I know so far.. Freelander- The old diesel engine seems to have a good reputation of maintained and they dont seem to suffer from rust but dont drive like a car Legacy-Owners seem to have great things to say about these cars but some also say that fixing problems can be expensive Cherokee-far more agricultural than the other two but highly regarded by owners if not car reviewers ! -
skoda felicia 1995 - used car faulty after part exchange 14 May 2012 (Forum)
i wanted to know what his obligations are? his ebay site states 3 months warrenty on parts and repairs. but i might prefer to have my old car back. no idea how i would get there as i am 60 miles away? i made a part payment by credit card and he said that he offered me the scrap value plus road tax refund vale. any advice would be appreciated. -
C and e class - Rusty mercedes 20 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I remember being disappointed with the styling and the lightweight build quality. I remember that part of the release details , were that the car used stressed ,rigid panels .instead of the heavy gauge steel that had been used in previous models . The problem was that this new model didn't really feel like a true merc. I had an e320 auto, old shape in almandine red metallic .a brilliant car ,other than in snow. -
Question on Document signed at dealer? 5 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Hi, Wondering if anyone can help, I was in looking at a car which I'm looking at buying, now I got a price over the phone and also down at the place which I am happy with. However I got a bit flustered down at the dealer (had my little 5 year old kid and also lost my mobile phone, actually went later on at night and got the security guy to take it from the car I had test drived as that was were I had dropped it). -
Ford Focus 1.6 2007 Petrol - Strange noise 8 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I have always found the fly by wire accelerator a little quirky but this issue is now making driving the car a little irritating. The car has done about 46000 miles and is about 3.5 years old. Does anyone have any ideas what it may be before I take it in to a Ford s******? Many thanks
