Van - Driving work vehicle I wasn't insured had accident 11 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I was driving my work vehicle last June and hit a moped who was in wrong lane and it was my right of way to go. Police came etc and turns out I wasn't insured on that vehicle. I was under full belief and was told I was insured. -
How do I get my licence back? 11 Jan 2017 (Ask HJ)
I have had a clean driving licence for 46 years, never been stopped or charged with any offence. I recently applied to renew my HGV licence and got a letter... -
Renault Scenic mk2 1.9 dci 55 plate - injection fault red stop light on 10 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Researched and found that this function is done by a pump bolted onto the diesel pump, its a finned alluminium block held on by 4 bolts and the suggestion was that the drive shaft had sheared. Removed this block, which is a pump, and sure enough the drive shaft end which locates into a drive slot had broken thus there was no drive to the pump so fuel was not getting to the diesel pump. -
Ford StreetKa - Engine Misfiring 17 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Hi, My Girl Friend has a 2004 1.6 Litre engine Streetka, this issue is very strange, basically, when we start the car on a cold engine, it starts fine, if we drive it somewhere and stop the car and start it again straight away after stopping, it starts fine, if we leave the car for a few hour after driving it, it starts fine, HOWEVER if we drive it somewhere, and leave it for 30 minutes - 1 hour (whilst doing the food shop for example) when we start the engine again, not all the cylinders start it seems, when you accelerate it sounds like not all the cyclinders are firing, after a few seconds the engine management light flashes, however after driving for a couple of minute, it seems to sort itself out and the engine light goes out and sounds like all cylinders are firing! -
Diesel or Petrol advice. 15 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Also not the extra cost of purchasing a diesel etc. Current real mpg is 56mpg. With hardly any town and moterway driving. Mostly clear B roads. Drive carefully upto 50mph normally. .................................. My Audi A1 is a diesel and does regular regens which i have to drive the long way home to allow it to complete its cycle. -
Petition government over DVLA 22 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Click this link to sign the petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/109121/sponsors/JII5dACc2tvc4rZDdVnf My petition: Reduce the time it takes DVLA to return wrongly revoked driving licences. I have just had my driving license revoked on medical grounds, this despite being allowed to drive for 5 months while they did investigations & having both my GP & psychiatrist saying I am fit & perfectly safe to drive. -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.4 Auxilary drive belt configuration 31 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I have a problem with the drive belt routing. I've spent ages trying to figure this one out but still have drawn a blank! I've fitted a new cambelt, tensioner and waterpump and correctly tensioned the cambelt and replaced the bottom, middle and top covers. -

Honda Jazz - Loud engine (I think) noise 6 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I check the oil levels regularly and only looked 2 weeks ago and the oil levels were fine so I don't think it was that. I don't drive my car very hard, and I drive it about 4 hours a week. Does anyone have any experience of this? I am probably going to have to take it to a garage to have it looked at. Do you recommend I go to a honda garage or would it matter? -
All vehicles and all drivers - When is a speed limit not a speed limit? 24 May 2011 (Forum)
When I took an advanced driving course many years ago the advice then, was to "flash" the brake lights to alert the following car that they are driving too close, and obviously to pull over and let the real idiots go by, but I am not so sure that flashing the reds would be taken too kindly by some of the mean-minded, selfish, out of control drivers displaying their lack of driving skills/finesse. -
Ford Mondeo ST220 2003 - Engine stops whilst driving and wont restart 14 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The engine turns over and the starter motor will engage (tried it in first gear and it pulls the car forward slightly) but it wont fire up into life. Also on three occassions after driving the car fine from cold in the morning, when returning to the car it wont start with the same symptons. THe car has been into the main dealer twice and they could not find any faults, its currently in there again as my wife now refuses to drive it anymore (probably a safe decision). -
Lötschberg tunnel - Any experiences? 19 Jan 2010 (Forum)
ve never heard of this tunnel but it does avoid Mont Blanc tunnel. http://www.bls.ch/e/autoverlad/goppenstein.php This is a drive on (similar to Eurotunnel but with open trucks) car transporter train that costs 16euros e/w and takes 15 minutes and runs from Kandersteg to Goppenstein where you drive off and complete your route into Italy via the Simplon Pass. -
Replacement car - advice wanted please 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I currently drive a Honda Civic 1.6 (03 reg). I have no particular problems with the car, other than the noise level when driving - but I know that's a feature of that model/engine. I have been having problems with my knees for some time - and I didn't think I was that old! -
KIA Sedona (2006 - ) - 2007 2.9TD Auto - short test drive 15 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Dashboard seems to be reasonably well laid out, although climate control buttons are too numerous, with the least used bottons as big s the ones that are used frequently. Driving - wow - quick off the mark for anything, diesel, auto or both. Remarkably smooth and quiet inside although I think it s lot noisier outside. A shot drive revealed it to be reasonably adept over potholes and speed bumps - again better than the Trajet. -
Very costly phone call. 11 May 2007 (Forum)
Found this on the Avon and Somerset Police website. Have never considered that anyone would drive an expensive premium vehicle round with no insurance (unless that was the original asking price and is now old and worth a fraction of that). ADDED: 4/05/2007 9:54 A man caught using his mobile phone while driving not only received three penalty points and a £60 fine, but had to endure watching his £60,000 Mercedes sports car being towed off to a storage compound. -
Driving with no tax or M.O.T 8 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I phoned up a garage I trust and they said the car could come in a week later. During this time my tax also expired and I still had to drive my car to get to work. I now happily have a valid M.O.T certificate and will be getting my tax done on saturday. Forgive me for driving an unroad worthy, (and thus prehapps uninsured?) can without tax), but it can easily be done. -
Driving a Foreign Car in Britain 27 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Obviously if I get stopped by a copper thats different? What can a copper do to me as I have a Spanish driving licence? 2) From personal experience which route is better for crossing the Channel? I am looking at Dunkirk/Dover or Calais/Dover on the Seacat. Or the tunnel? 3) As I have "European"(sic) Spanish plates I don't need to put a stupid E sticker on my car do I? -
Driving and texting 21 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Anyway, what did she do today? Had her third "driving in to the back of somebody else" in eighteen months, this one whilst admitting (to hubby and my wife) that she was replying to a text she had just received at the time. Serious damage to both cars this time. -
Insurance for test drives 31 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I'm about to try selling my car privately, and I'm confused about the advice I've read about insurance when a potential buyer's taking my car for a test drive. As long as the buyer's got comprehensive cover on his car, they ought to have 3rd party cover to drive my car, so if he runs someone over he's covered. But what about the more likely scenario of an accident causing damage to my car?
