  • Outstanding motoring fines when someone dies? 20 May 2011 (Forum)
The deceased's partner is worried about whether they will be liable for these fines, even though they don't drive. Will the deceased's car get towed and crushed?
  • Porsche 924S - Simple, if you know the answer 24 Apr 2010 (Forum)
My friend has a porsche 924S which will not start on the key. The engine  turns, battery ok,  it will start by pushing or towing. as such it is a useless car. The original suppliers, porsche main dealers, have no solution. The control box has been returned for checking twice without result, and finally, it will start if a 944 box is installed but wont run properly.
  • misfuelling claims another victim 16 Sep 2009 (Forum)
From the BBC website coverage of the over-by-over coverage of the ODI series: BBC cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew on Twitter: "Put wrong fuel in car - petrol into diesel. Broken down on M1. In tow truck heading north. No chance of getting to The Oval" That will be pricey... but shows how it can happen to anyone. We bought a fuel angel, so won't happen to us. England are playing two spinners at the oval- could be fiery!

  • ANPR question. 20 Jun 2009 (Forum)
We all have read about drivers being pinged for no insuance when they were insured. What would be the position if you were captured and had your car impounded...but....you were towing a caravan or a boat...or even a horse in a trailer. Would they take the lot ? Or would you and your family be left at the roadside with your trailer, etc. Or would they do the sensible thing and just issue a HO/RT/!
  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 03 Broken cam belt 27 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi, just reading your post, bascially i brought a 03 fiesta from northampton auction about 4 weeks ago, it has done 70,000 miles and yesterday, the cam belt broke and i had to be towed by the AA to a garage. Im just wondering would this fiesta be under warranty or not. Moved from a long dead thread to a standalone thread - engine type ?
  • Snowboarder 7 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Of course, no further information given and the driver could have been over the limit, etc but is there now a specific arrestable offence of 'Being towed on a snowboard by a car' ? Just looked a bit of fun to me. Ted
  • Renault Megane II Sport Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Cycle Mounts 2 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I'm about to take delivery of a pair of bikes and am after suggestions for transporting them. The Megane Sport Tourer (estate, to the rest of us) is not fitted with a tow bar, boot does have roof rails, so I assume a roof rack of some sort is some way to go. any recommendations, or products/brands to avoid ? cheers, and Happy New Year

  • RHD Opel - can they be imported? 28 Nov 2006 (Forum)
The model I want, Vectra Estate (aka Caravan / Stationwagen) Design 3.0CDTi automatic, has a higher towing limit than the Vauxhall version. I know rhd Opels can be imported from Ireland but the 3.0CDTi isn't available there. Which other countries drive on the left other than UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand?
  • Nice one Honda! 21 Mar 2006 (Forum)
A mate at work has a V-reg Accord which suffered an auto box failure. Towed to local Honda garage. He rang up a couple of days later and was told it needed a new box and it was on order. He was just about to say "and how much will that be?" when he was told that Honda had agreed to pay for it even though it was way out of warranty, as a gearbox shouldn't fail after 50K.

  • Getting a car home without MOT 6 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I intend to buy a car from auction shortly, and was wondering how to get it home without breaking the law (since most of the cars do not have MOT's). Short of towing it, is there any way to at least limit the ramifications if I was to have an accident or get pulled over by the police? i will get the car insured before I set off but I imagine that will probably be invalidated by the lack of mot and tax anyway?
  • Ford Fiesta Immobiliser 10 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Now , it flashes red , goes solid red with the keyfob thing in , but NEVER goes to green. So , can I bypass this myself ? Or is it an arm and a leg to get someone to come out , tow it away , fix the problem?
  • towboard wiring - Audi A4 1.9 TDI 14 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I\'ve followed the instructions for wiring the 7 pin plug up, and everything seems fine till I connect the tow board and only 1 brake light works on the board. Should I put a bridge across the other connector on the socket? Cheers.......
  • Which Mondeo ? 29 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Think I'm about to swap trusty 90K Carina 2.0l petrol for a new /nearly new Mondeo. Requirements : more accelerating poke than a Carina, a bit of fun, reasonable MPG, ability to tow a camping trailer and growing family round Europe and something that won't cost me a packet to maintain and service. Which model, engine type / size, hatch or saloon ? Advice welcome. Thanks in advance.
  • Oh for trailer MOTs 24 Aug 2003 (Forum)
M25 Yesterday Sat behind a beat up old minibus, loaded to the gunwales with holiday appareil and people, towing a RIB on a two wheeled trailer. Speed, thankfully, zero to walking pace. What happens next? A trailer wheel falls off and rolls gently up the road, with the trailer now resting on the suspension arm, apparently sans hub.
  • trailers, braked or unbraked ? 5 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I'm about to buy my first trailer, for occasional moving of rubbish and bits of furniture. I just got a tow bar fitted, 110 quid for my Ford Focus with single electrics. I'm looking in the local adtrader, some trailers are braked and some not. What kind of brakes are we talking about ? How do they work, and do they require maintenance ?
  • Best Off Road for £6000 4 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I need a (relatively) cheap & reliable off roader (most urban but light occasional off road use), no towing required. To save on running cost I am thinking of getting a diesel (2.0 to 3.0 engine). I have been put off Ford Maverick (too thirsty) & Freelander (running costs). Can anyone suggest any good ones?
  • Rover 100 - Electrical problem 23 Dec 2002 (Forum)
We've changed the battery, alternator and regulator. It's an intermittent fault, so every time it's in the garage, having been towed back again, it behaves perfectly. Anyone else had this problem please?
