  The Lexus LS400 is a very nice car and I would like one but scanning through autotrader the cheapest examples are around £4,000 and for that you get a 10 year old car with 130k ish on the clock. Good but way overpriced in the current market would you not agree?

    So say total cost of the Lexus would be c.£12.5k.  BUT with the Lexus it would have a value of, say, £5k after three years - so total costs c.£12.5k - 5k = c. £7.5k. I realise that these are rather different cars - the Astra more practical, the Lexus more luxurious.

  We live in a rural area and have 2 cars : a 1L Yaris for short journeys and a 6 year old Lexus 200D for longer journeys.  We get ~46mpg from the Lexus (on the meter). I am thinking of changing the Lexus for a CT200h but I'm not sure that this will give me any fuel savings.
