Volvo 340 restart 18 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Hello, My G-reg 1.4 340 has been sitting idle for 3 months over winter. I've changed the plugs, leads and distributor bits but the thing remains dead. Flat battery I know but even when jump leads connected it only manages one turn before stopping. I disconnected one of the volvo battery leads (from the battery terminal), assuming the jump leads may have been trying to charge the volvo battery, but to no avail. -
Removing HT leads! 28 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Now I realise that this shouldnt be a problem - but I need help! I am unable to remove the HT leads from the plug on a 1.4 Fiat Brava. I have read the Haynes manual, which basically says pull the cap off (but not using the lead in case of fracturing) I have pulled the cap as much as humany possible (and tried pulling and twisting at the same time). -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 2.0 tdci Jump leads wrong way round 14 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Having to jump start the step daughter's Rover 25 today I Placed one end of the red lead on her positive terminal and the other end on my negative (it was going dark and the insulation on the leads runs down the back of the battery). I then put one end of the black lead on her negative and was just about to put the other end on my positive terminal when I realised my mistake, phew!. -
Mercedes 230E steering lock/leads 29 Jan 2004 (Forum)
In previous cars I have used a very good red flashing dummy 'car alarm light' that works by using a positive power source from the radio supply, and connecting to one of the leads going into the back of the steering wheel lock. When the car is running, this is energized ie. positive, and with the other positive lead gives 2 positives so the light will not work. When switched off, we have a dead lead ie. negative earth, and the red light automatically flashes. -
Custom made jump leads. 22 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I want to make a pair of jump leads for my son who has called me out a few times with my leads when he has left his lights on at the office, no one else there has any. The leads I have were made for me using good length light welding cable and two pairs of heavy duty clamps which have helped me and others over the 15 years since they were made for me . -

"Novelty" jump leads-any good? 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I was wandering around the car accessory department of a supermarket the other day and saw a set of jump leads that work from the cigar lighter socket. Are these things any good? I would be a bit wary myself but just wondered if any BR users had any experience of them? -

Mazda Mazda 2 (2003 - 2007) - 07 1.4 Coil pack and HT leads. 31 May 2008 (Forum)
Dealer diagnosed that the coil pack needed replacing and replaced this on May 6th. Then diagnosed that the HT lead was corroded and needed replacing. They cobbled together a HT lead together from another car to keep the two running. I had booked the car in for the 27th May (after our holiday) and was told the HT lead was not due from the factory until the 5th June and this may be subject to delay. -
Ford Mondeo 2-litre petrol, '54 reg - Lead/acid, calcium or silver battery 5 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I don't know when Ford started fitting their 'smart' charge system. I know that lead/acid isn't advisable with it, but how do I tell if 'smart' charge. The handbook doesn't help. -

High spec HT Leads for Mk1 Granada 12 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Hi, Does anyone know the best place to get a high performance/quality set of HT leads for a 1977 Mk1 Ford Granada 3.0? My current ones are prone to breaking down when the car gets too warm. A certain car parts superstore isn't much help.
