VW Polo 1.2 Tsi - Loss of engine oil following service 8 Sep 2011 (Forum)
My 12 month old Polo had its first service at my local main dealer, 2 days later whilst on the motorway the oil warning light came on followed by the warning buzzer. Unfortunatly this portion of the motorway has no hard shoulder so the car was driven to the next junction, by which time was making a racket and smelt of burning rubber. -
If only everything in life was as reliable as ... 22 Jul 2011 (Forum)
The only other breakdown I spotted was a Peugeot 306 - although I should probably discount 10+ year old cars from the stats. On the way up this morning I thought I'd see if this was a coincidence - amazingly I spotted another two Passats and one Golf! The only other breakdown was a BMW 3 series – a full-house for the Germans. -
Nissan Almera 2.2d 136 SXE 2003 - Suspected Immobiliser Failure 25 Jun 2011 (Forum)
(The garage's quote) Could anyone break the immobiliser rolling key code and then re-code the key? The car is 7 years and 145K miles old so the other alternative is to scrap it. But I'd like to fix it if I can. -
Vauxhall vectra diesel - Poor performance in gears 1 and 2 8 May 2011 (Forum)
The car is very slow to build up revs in gears 1 and 2. Takes an age to accelerate then pulls and enables a gear change. Fine on the motorway and drives normally. Tried some catalytic cleaner on advice and performance has improved though still a hint of sluggish acceleration. -
Toyota Corolla Saloon - Toyota Corolla nearly killed me!! 27 Feb 2011 (Forum)
It had been serviced & MoT'd just a month ago at a local independent - should they have picked it up? Although it is a 1998 model it had only done 45k miles - it's used as a 2nd car & we've had it since it was 2 yrs old. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 spark plugs breaking in cylinder block 18 Feb 2011 (Forum)
as I am currently in dispute as to who should pay for the repair as it broke during a service. The car has only done 34000 miles and is just under 3 years old and they want to charge me £700 plus the cost of the service If anyone is aware of any history of the or documented evidence I would be grateful to hear from you as this would assist my argument with e garage Thanks Barry -

Nationwide Autocentre... Experiences? 30 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Hi folks, A Lexus and Saab (both new) owning friend swears by his local Nationwide Autocentre, after being ripped off by Lexus for servicing (they serviced his car when he took it in for a light bulb change, without asking). We've just used them, based on his experience, to service my wife's RAV4 (6 years old). It was a slightly mixed experience, as there was a mix up over whether genuine Toyota parts should be used, which were eventually. -
Volkswagen Golf V - Golf Mk5 Exhaust Removing/Upgrading Help 3 May 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I have purchased a new full stainless exhaust system and wondered whether i can attemp the removal of the old one and replacement with the new one at home or whether it needs a garage? Im ok with basic car mechanics, but no professional by any means. Does it need to be raised up fully on lifters or can i get by with jacks/ramps as it is a full cat back through to backbox system? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 Remote central locking issues 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The remote central locking on my car seems to only work when it wants. Central locking is fine when I use the key in the doors. I've re-programmed the key a few times and replaced the batteries. Mine is an old 2 button key with the little glass eye on it. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 03 2.0 Zetec Aerial Base removal 16 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hello all, New to this forum, so please forgive any transgression of rules etc! Like a muppet, I "forgot" to unscrew the aerial on my '03 Focus whilst going into a car-warsh. Surprise surprise, the aerial has been snapped off where it joins the base, leaving the threaded "male" part of the base niceley screwed into the aerial itself. I've had a good trawl through various websites to see how on earth I can remove the old base and replace it with a new one, but so far have drawn a total blank - any useful suggestions greatly appreciated!! -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 Non-start shortly after new ECU fitted 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Had a different ECU fitted at weekend to my focus Car ran ok for a hour or two Then just died, turns over but no spark at plugs Could the garage have killed the replacement ECU, i think he left my old coil pack on cos he said it was ok. He is baffled after his reader came back with no faults and has now passed it on to a local company with a better scanner to try and trace the fault because i have no error codes on the ECU. -

The wheels in question here are steel wheels and 4 years old. No signs of corrosion. My question is does anyone have experience of this tyre fitting method and put my mind at rest that there will be no problems with this? Thanks. -
Vauxhall Omega (1994 - 2003) - 96 2.5 Replacing HT leads 30 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The HT lead to the front passenger side spark plug on my 2.5 v6 is breaking down and I want to replace. Although I have done other work on the car including replacing the spark plugs and cam cover gaskets I have no experience of DIS ignition systems. So bear with my simple question. Does the old HT lead pull off the dis unit and is the new lead a push fit and just pushed on similarily to the lead being pushed on to the spark plug . -

Variations in servicing costs. 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I can't understand why dealers price themselves out of the market like this. Seems to be akin to shooting yourself in the foot in the current climate. (The Pug 207 courtesy car has proved to be very good as well)
