Ford Mondeo - HELP - central locking on my Mondeo 20 Oct 2010 (Forum)
When you try and lock it remotely it does make a slight whirring noise like its trying to do something. There is a new battery in the key. Does anyone have any idea what's the matter. As I am a complete novice - is it something we can easily fix or is it something that is going to cost a small fortune to get right. -
Mondeo 2006, Duratec Engine, 2.0 Liter Petrol - Engine Cutting Out / Stuttering Intermittently 10 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Sometimes it would stutter all of a sudden, the rev needle would go up and down and sometimes the battery light would come as if the car has lost power then it would go again, if i am on the highway the problem is much less noticeable because I think the car catches up again because of the momentum, this has been happening since the past 4 months, i took it to ford and nothing came up on the computer check. -
2004 Toyota Prius - Buying 1 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I need your advice on the following please 1. Is it a reasonable price 2. I would try and sell the car in 3 - 4 years, considering the battery warranty would have been worn off in another 2 years. Whether any one would buy the car in a reasonable price 3. Are you guys could recommend me any other car with similar fuel economy and specs please. -
Renault Clio II - Starting problem 1 Aug 2010 (Forum)
The car is not often used has not been started in at least 4 months. It's been garaged with the doors unlocked. Battery was fully charged before attempting to start it. When you turn the ign on you can hear the fuel pump run for around 5 seconds. If you wait to crank the engine until after the fuel pump has stopped the engine will not turn over. -
BMW 1 Series Coupe E82 - Clutch Failure 11 Jul 2010 (Forum)
The car then decided to totally shut down after several attempts the door decided to open. Once out I called the Fire Brigade who then disconneted the battery due to possible electrical fault? I had to wait in the pouring rain for over an hour for a recovery vehicle to collect the car because it would not lock! Eventually the car was put on a low loader and the car is now back at the dealership in the workshop. -
Electric Cars 1 Jun 2010 (Forum)
OK, another thread says nothing is happening here, so I started a thread on Electric cars since there's a lot of buzz in the motoring press about them at the moment. My view is that battery electric vehicles do have a bright future as a niche product - small urban electric cars and vans where range is not an important factor. I think the G-Wiz, though very basic, has paved the way for a generation of better and slightly bigger urban electric vehicles. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 1.4 Non Starter - Urgent help needed 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Problem sorted...... or so I thought. Following morning car refused to start again. AA called and replaced battery and multi function relay. All system was checked ie. fuel injectors, fuses etc..... still will not start. The momentum there but just doesn't seem to have the spark to do so. Booked in to a local garage tomorrow and desperate to know if anyone has had a similar problem and what was the solution. -

Best supportive gadget to the motorist/car? 6 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I put forward the the `smart phone` - as you may know, I`ve been getting used to one this last week. 1) you can phone for help 2)Text for help 3)Skype for help 4) Morse code at night for help, with the flash (was it a candle at 20+ miles) 5) Flog it to someone passing by and use the money to go home in a taxi 6) Google maps + built in Sat detection, (find your way out of the Blair Witch Woods) soon to be charge free Sat Nav - thus giving all the dedicated Nav players the boot. 7) You could short out the battery to start a fire to semaphore/smoke signal for help. Any more? Or you may not want help, but instead could offer help, amusement or irritation on forums all around the world - from that remote swamp - with just a transmitter poking over the nearby ridge. -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 04 2.0 Engine loses power after 40 mins 17 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I have a Mazda 6 sport 2ltr 04 reg, which starts fine, but after about 40 minutes, it start losing power, and when I stop at the lights and run in idle the engine management lights come on and it won't rev over 1500 rpm. This is easily cured by reseting battery. The car then sounds like it's missing. I have taken this to my local mazda dealer, who can find no fault on the computers :-( they have since changed 2 injectors 2/3 and this has not cured the problem either. -
Volvo S80 (1998 - 2006) - 98 2.9 Compression Problems 9 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The mechanic rebuild the head on this motor 178K and the motor would not start. He killed the battery, recharged it and got running. But at different times the compression now fails sporadically on various cylinders. We took in because number "2 cylinder had no compression. It died on the way. Mechanic pulled head, had it rebuild, motor would not start. -
Mercedes Benz C-Class W202 (1993 - 2000) - Absolutley flat C220CDi Auto 13 Sep 2009 (Forum)
He is remaining overseas and is selling the car by SureSell. I have the keys and went this morning to start her up. The battery is cmpletely flat. I tried jumping it from my Subuaru Outback. I attached the black cable from my negative terminal to the bodywork of the Merc. I attached the red cable from my positive terminal to a terminal on the Merc hiding under a red cover with a + sign on it. -
Volkswagen Bora (1999 - 2006) - Bump Starting a Diesel 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The first sign of trouble started when I came to press the remote and the car would not unlock. Tried my wifes remote and that was the same and then the penny dropped, the battery was very flat. My freind had some jump leads in their car so it was not a problem, but the thought crossed my mind that if I had tried to bump start it, would I have succeded. The car is a VW Bora with a PD 130 TDI engine. -
Should she get rid of the Nissan? If so, what for. 10 Jul 2009 (Forum)
My daughter has a V reg Almera. Laff if you like but she's had it 6 years and only needed tyres, battery and a couple of shocks replaced. Until now that is. Last MOT is needed welding on the rear ends of the sills - common problem I hear, and now needs work on the brakes and other bits and pieces. -
Rover 25 (1999 - 2005) - Won't start but I got an idea 17 Mar 2009 (Forum)
However if jump started it goes fine. Trying to turn the engine over, all the lights come on, and the battery is relatively new. There is a noise from the back of the car which I think is the CD changer! That lasts about 2 seconds but, er, I don't think it's relevant. My theory, based on an experience I had with a sierra about 20 years ago, is that it might be the starter motor and if you smack it with a hammer it might work again for a bit. -
Mazda MX5 (1998-2005) - 99 1.8 Won't start 24 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Hope someone can point me in the right direction (I am pretty clueless about things under the bonnet, so treat me gently!). There seems to be plenty of battery power and the ignition system comes on OK (dashboard lights all OK), but when the key is turned to fire the engine there is a horrible high pitched "grating" sound from somewhere under the bonnet (seems to be in front of the driver but it is difficult to tell) - my best description of the noise! -
Hyundai Getz (2002 - 2008) - key problems 21 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Often we do not realise the button has been accidentally pressed until we return to the car to find it unlocked! We do not want to take the battery out of the key but is there something else we could do to eliminate this problem? We have spoken to our local dealer, to Halfords and to a local key agent without success. Regards John -
Renault Scenic (1996 - 1998) - 1998 1.6 auto- engine won't start. 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
is defective and needs to be replaced at a price of around £400. Is there any other solution? Could it be a defective connection or a drop in battery voltage? Is there any independent specialist who can check out the fault and perhaps do the repair for less? We are located in Ashford, Kent. I wonder if the car is worth repairing but he has just spent £350 on it (tyres, exhaust and mirror) in preparation for the MOT. -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 2005 2.0D Gear selection fault 25 Jan 2009 (Forum)
About 9 months ago he had a gear change cable failure where the outer casing plastic bracket broke. This was replaced by the place he bought it from and he's had no problems. The AA man took the battery & tray out to see the cables and they 'seem' to be moving. However I wonder if anyone out there has any advice or guidance. The lever is very stiff and no matter how you try it will not go into any gear by pushing the gear lever forward. -
Vauxhall - Vivaro - 03 1.9 ECU location and removal 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Got a problem with the company van, it went into the garage to get a new gearbox and they have managed to flaten the battery and now cant get it started. (dont have a clue how they have managed that one as it was only in for a week!!!) a Vauxhall dealer has told us it was the ECU so im going to take it out and send it away myself to get sorted as its much cheaper than they have quoted.
