  A friend has an E230 estate P registration with steel wheels. His nanny was insured to drive it. She had a rear puncture and changed the wheel leaving the wheel trim in the boot. As she tried to drive off, the bolts damaged the brakes because they are too long UNLESS you replace the trim which is held on by them and acts as a washer.

  I have a large willow tree at the top of my drive. In the strong recent winds a large branch descended, if this branch had damaged my car would the claim be made on house or car insurance? I suppose I could end up sueing myself!

  Reading hj for many years it appears too many people buy a car completely unsuitable for their requirements. eg. Diesel instead of petrol, large engines for city driving etc. And a common mistake thinking an expensive German car will be better quality than a cheaper model. Remember quality isn’t based on price

  Saab 9000 2.0 auto front discs replaced for the second time in less than 2 years (34,000 miles). Is this to be expected or am I doing something wrong in my driving, or was there something wrong with the first set of discs? All replies appreciated.

  With the drop in diesel prices at the pumps, does a diesel car make sense now in low mileage situations if a long drive once or twice per week is achieved to enable the DPF to work correctly?   Thanks!

  my astra will not rev past 2500 in all gears while driving and static with the clutch fully out ,but with the clutch depressed the vehicle revs normally. It acts like a miss and starts to judder past 2500. Have you any Ideas ?

  I drive a 1998, Mercedes C class Estate,with a 1.8 petrol engine. Could someone tell me if it is ok to run on the lower ethanol fuel  (95octane,E10) that is now available? Many thanks
