This is what happens when you drive your Lamborghini at over 200 mph on a public road., as filmed by the passenger, who was damn nearly killed.

The video doesn't actually show the cause of the crash- the car jumps at about 1.28 and then goes out of control-tyre failure? ran over debris on the road?

The Telegraph carries a slightly more informative version of the story, including this:

"Footage of the first Lamborghini Huracan crash at more than 200mph has been released by Hungary Police.

Last year there were reports of the first known case of such a crash when a Huracan registered in the Czech Republic hit a barrier, fell into a ditch and caught on fire on the M7 motorway."

The Huffington Post:

"Hungarian police say the roads were not built to withstand such high speeds, causing the car to hit a barrier, plunge into a ditch and catch fire."

Looks to me like the section of road had a couple of sharpish dips or bumps of the type that will be familiar to anyone who uses the M62 between the M60 and M6 junctions. Those are bad enough in a saloon car at 70mph, let alone at 3x that speed in a sports car.

The wheels probably left the ground, the driver was unable to correct properly on landing, and the plot went sideways (literally and figuratively).

I'm not a fan of curbing speeds generally, but not even the most skilled drivers in the world can avoid a crash if the unexpected happens at over 100 yards per second.
