Ford Ka oil change 29 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Been contacted by a friend who this weekend is out to impress his girl friend by carrying out an oil change to her Ford Ka. Has some considerable mechancically aptitude with two wheel machines but wonders and asks: 1. The location of the sump plug on a 1.3 Ka?. 2. Is a standard Hex used to loosen or a key? -

What diesel oil? 30 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I have a P reg mondeo TD 1.8 I have not owned a diesel car before and I am going to change the oil. What diesel oil should I get for this time of year. Normal, part Synthetic or fully Synthetic? Can some also tell me what the difference is and does changing it do any damage to the engine? -

Scenic II Oil change 30 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Manual says use 10W40 or 10W50. I believe the best oils are fully synthetic, do these come with the same name ie 10W40 or is it different? 2. Any particular oil I should look at, bearing in mind it will get changed again at 18000 miles? 3. Where is the cheapest place to buy the oil - my local independent can physically do the work for a tenner or so I am sure. -
VW Golf oil question & coolant question 17 Oct 2001 (Forum)
You may remember that I had the oil cooler break on my MkII Golf GTI recently. It didn't occur to me at the time but the two oil changes prior to the failure had been done using a semi-synthetic, the Quantum stuff that VW sell at dealerships. -
Honda Civic 2.2 Diesel - Oil change for Diesel Honda Civic 25 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Question is should I have the oil changed at about 6000 miles? Understand that some cars should be left to "bed in". Intending to keep it for a while so will it be a worthwhile investment? Thanks in advance -

Nissan Almera (2000 - 2006) - 03 1500 Another engine oil question 24 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I notice my usual oil supplier (Comma) http://www.commaoil.com/ have changed their recommendation for my engine oil to 5W-30, from 10W-40. The handbook recommends 10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50 for an ambient temperature of -20 to 40c. -
Suzuki Swift (2005 - ) - Cold Cranking - Changing from 10w to 5w Oil? 17 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hello My Suzuki Swift cranks very slowly first thing in the morning in the recent cold weather - not helped by a diet of short trips morning and evening with lights, blower etc always on meaning the battery rarely rarely gets a good charge. Although the manual recommends 5w-30 oil, I know the dealer who services it uses 10w-40 (no idea why, he's also a Ford dealer so you'd think he'd have supplies of the thinner oil!). Do other BR's think that I'd improve things if I changed to the thinner oil or would the difference be negligible? -
vw passat tdi, oil change problems 21 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi can anyone help me i own a vw passat tdi year 2000, problem is i have never had a car before i cant service myself i always do all my own brakes, services etc. Does anyone know what oil i can use in my car the vw recomended oils are to expensive, i am aware this model is a long life service vehicle, but do not do very high mileages so would be willing to change my oil once or twice within a 12 month period so buying long life oil will not serve me any perpose. can i purchase oils for this vehicle from regular motor accessories shop or do i have to go to my local dealer. -

oil change via vacuum extraction 5 Dec 2024 (Forum)
I just happened to be wondering if anyone has any idea how common the practice of removing oil via a vacuum method is these days. I have had a Pela pump for years which I have never used but now my health is failing i think I shall use it for my next change. Is it true to say this method was originally used on boats for obvious reasons? -

10/30 oil 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I'm Chairman of a hobby group, who last year, bought a brand new diesel generator, for when we do demonstrations outside of the club hq,and it is now due an oil change,as it's done 20 hours. (We don't use it a lot at the moment.) It has to be changed with 10/30 diesel oil,of a high grade, but I'm having trouble finding some.It needs about 2 litres, and of course, has to be diesel oil.
