Peugeot 307 SW - ABS/ESR fault 20 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Reading around I've now learned the sensor 'bar' has to be 1.5-2mm from the hub and I think, in retrospect, it's sitting out further so I need to ensure it's paralell and place a washer behind the sensor to close the gap. However....... Could a defective sensor also cause the ABS ECU fault code? If the ABS ECU has to be replaced, am I right in thinking it's mated up with the pump? Is it easy to replace this unit OR does it require coding to the car and an ABS pump bleed that can only be performed by a dealer via diagnostic? -
FIAT Scudo - failed ECU sales of goods act 3 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I purchased a FIAT Scudo Van in autumn 2008. In November 2012 the car stopped due to a faulty ECU. After having been sent by the vendor to an authorized dealership the car eventually got fully tested and repaired...at a cost of just under £2500 Initially the authorized dealership felt FIAT might cover such fault which seems very rare and my van (in light domestic use) in very good shape. -

Rover 400 (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.6 cold start/cooling fan on problem 29 Dec 2008 (Forum)
The one thing, looking at the wiring diagram, which could connect the two situations I feel is the coolant temperature sensor, which sends info to the ECU which in turn controls the fuel(including cold starting) and cooling fan amongst other things. So if this sensor goes belly up and sends out a signal that the engine is very hot, then I presume a)the fan kicks in and b)when you start from cold, the ECU is told not to use the automatic choke.Any thoughts would be most welcome as I loathe paying out a small ransom just for having it plugged in at the local dealers! -
Peugeot 306 Auto Stalling Problem 24 Oct 2005 (Forum)
My peugeot garage then suggested sending the ECU to a company who could repair them - which I did, but I've just heard back from them saying the ECU has no problems and is working fine! So, has anyone else had this kind of problem? Is there anyone with any idea of the next step I can take? -
Faults with cars just out of warranty 11 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Apparently, the fault seems quite common on this particular engine - a 1.8 - becuase my friends brother's car also had the same ECU fault, luckily within the warranty period. Cheers. -

Kia Sedona 2.9 CRDi - Car will not start 20 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I gave the garage some info i had on the 'Common Rail Diesel Fuel System' and I believe and hope that they carried out the correct checks on the harness. v) The next thing I hear from garage is that all inputs / outputs at ECU are good apart from sensor and he was going to slave in a cable from ECU to sensor and see what we get. Didn't hear back from garage till this morning when he basically said that everything was good to/from ECU apart from the voltage to the Crankshaft sensor. -
Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCI Titanium - Charging problem 15 Sep 2024 (Forum)
It's now done this 3 or 4 times but always ends up not charging. I've been told that the ECU on this car controls the alternator telling it when to charge. So, it might be a bad connection/broken wire from the ECU to the alternator possibly ? Any advice or experience anyone has will be greatly appeciated as a replacement alternator is about £ 175 + vat. -
Nissan Micra - Micra k12 2005 1.2 petrol power steering failed 14 Oct 2020 (Forum)
I am plan on trying to solve the problem my self but I know it's a complex system, I have nothing to lose as I will not be paying £500 to £750 for the new column and will be scrapping it any way. My questions are as follows Can the ECU be read by a normal code read? I know it programmed to the car but is that just the ECU? Can the motor be swapped? I know about the it must be kept straight for the sensors. Last question on a second hand unit is there a way to clear previous vehicle ID? -

Vauxhall Astra 1.7 diesel 1999 - Astra diesel wont run.......... 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
There appears to be no fuel reaching the pump, but it seems unlikely to be a pump issue in light of the money recently spent. I read on-line of a bod with similar symptoms, who said it was a dry joint in the ecu, and advised me to pop it open and check for some burning inside. At a glance, I can't see an ecu......any thoughts guys? All help much appreciated. -
Ford Focus - Body controller ? 21 Dec 2010 (Forum)
The main problems is that her rear heater and other electrical switchs dont always work and he said this was down to the body controller. Does he mean the ECU ? If so I understand the ECU is located or near the glove compartment when removed. So QUESTION. If I get a replacement, as I've seen on ebay from a breakers yard, as long as I match the year built and the model engine size it should be okay to swap out, Yes ?
