  • Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi - Focus TDCi LIMP HOME MODE SOLVED....I THINK! 12 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I got as far as Southampton and the car started losing power. I immediately turned off the motorway found the nearest fuel station and filled up. I then drove to Portsmouth and then back to Bournemouth with absolutely no problems, not even the odd fuel blip. So there you have it folks, if you have a problem with a diesel Focus going into limp home mode on motorway journeys, maybe its worth taking note of how much fuel you have on board, and if it happens when its continually below 1/3, try keeping your tank topped up and see if it solves the problem.

  • Fabia Estate (2010) Mk 2, 1.2 TSI DSG - Random knocking noise when accelerating 26 Apr 2016 (Forum)
If so then the use of premium grade fuel and RedeX fuel additive has not removed the carbon. It would explain the random nature of the noise but not why it only happens when accelerating and would it be a ‘solid’ rattling noise as described above?

  • ford mondeo 2002 tdci - mondeo 2002 tdci cuts out 30 Jun 2012 (Forum)
The next morning the mechanic started the car first time and took it for a test drive and found no fault until he returned when it was running a little lumpy. He replaced the fuel filter and all was fine. It was back to normal and I was over whelmed!.   A month later my car done the eact same thing. So i waited 30 minutes and it re-started and just about got me home. (5 miles and stalled by my front door) I took off the fuel filter and emptied the contents into a see through container, it looked like white bubbles inside the fuel (bit crued but it looked like semen!)

  • Citroen Saxo 1.5D 1997 - Losing Power Intermittant Fault 11 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Sometimes the engine will fire up and run straight away other times I have to wait a min or so. Been out with it this morning and its running fine! I'm guessing its fuel supply related so have checked the following. 1. No obvious air in fuel system when engine running. 2. I took fuel filler cap off no hissing. 3. There is fuel in tank. 4.
  • Ford Escort van T reg 99 55 1.8D - Lumpy cold start idle, stalling and hesitation!! 10 Dec 2010 (Forum)
It has brand new lifter pump, so would be suprised if it was leaking air (zip tied rubber glove over it, no difference) primer pump alway solid after 2 or 3 pumps. Have noticed diesel leak on fuel tank or lines not sure which havent had time to investigate. mmm thats all i can think of atm, but hopefully somebody out there can help me :-))) Thinking it might be a fuel starving problem but not sure where or how or what to test etc, not sure if fuel pump is dodgy or soemthing??

  • A bad experience at VW today 25 Feb 2005 (Forum)
She was not best pleased when we declined and said we'd test the car we wanted to buy. She then spent about 20 minutes getting fuel for it and trying to start it (complete with bonnet up - not very confidence boosting). Turns out the car had absolutely no fuel in it at all. Instant alarm bells since the manual for my Passat says never to let the fuel run out as this can damage the catalyst.

  • HGVs and Premium Diesel 3 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Assuming all the benefits of using a 'premium' diesel are accepted, why don't HGVs use it?  HGV's at my local Shell fill up at their dedicated 'Fuel Save' pumps.
