• Ford Focus 2004 1.8 TDCI - Not starting - Tone from Dashboard 2 May 2012 (Forum)
  My focus is not starting. Have changed Battery and Starter Motor to eliminate from scenario. After starter Motor was changed, car started on the button. Over the next 2-3 weeks it has gradually got worse. I turn the key and nothing happens except the electrical system kicks in i.e.

  Further info: Checked air filter and it is moderately clean. Oil change is not due. Battery is showing as 12.6v on the multi-meter before starting up car so that and the alternator is fine. Spark plugs changed recently. Spark plug leads and coil pack appear in good condition but I wouldn't know how to check them.

  Hi can anyone help I have a 1999 Vauxhall movano van T reg my main key has a fault on one of the chips ( AA checked) I have a spare key that will not work it will unlock & lock doors manually as it hasn't got central locking on spare, central locking works fine on main key but will not disarm immobiliser & the spare key doesn't register tried several combinations with key fob but still can't get it to work, does anyone know how to code my spare key to disarm immobiliser also tried disconnecting the battery for short periods of time & still no luck, or is there any way to over ride the immobiliser don't really want to pay £100 plus for dealer to sort if there is something else I can do first, Thanks in advance Kelly

  My Citroen Xsara had been running fine even up until last night. Today it just won't start, brand new battery 3 weeks ago. Turns over but just won't fire, getting diesel upto the injectors. Even with easystart it tries to fire but won't run. AA been out and left scratching their head. Maybe imobiliser problem although light not on on dash and keyfob works fine.

  I have read the forums and got into the car through the secret keyhole on the passenger side. The ignition failed to start (the dashboard showed the airbag off light and at some stage the battery light showed). I tried to jump start with no avail, and the fuses are all in tact. As the spare key does not work I am unable to open all the doors which it says is required to go through the re-programming procedure for the keys.

  This vehicle is 2006 and when accelerating up hill deceided to go into get home mode, after displaying three lights on the dash. 1.engine 2. traction control and 3. stability control. The AA man arrived, the battery was disconnected and re-connected, and everything so far is OK. Question is- Do I have to pay £38 to go on the dealers computer, as I suspect any code will have been wiped, or can some clued-up guy inform me that this has occured before with this particular car?

  Hi, i recently had the misfortune of having a light front end collision in my 306 hdi,  external damage would be an easy repair for myself,  however, both the passenger and drivers airbag were activated and are still in the deployed state, my main problem is that the engine will not turn over on the key, i have located the front impact sensor with red cap found to the rear of the battery tray, and pressed it to reset, but still no joy,  i assume i will have to replace airbags before i can get engine running ? does anyone know if there are other asociated parts i may have to replace . . . . ?

  I assumed the key was not charging in the ignition because I only do short drives and a 20-30 mile long drive once a week. During Xmas, I had a dead car battery so changed it over. This hasn't rectified the problem. Mini have said it sounds as if I need a new key and it re-coding, however, will do a diagnostic test first. I know they're going to cost me £120+ for this.

  Since I purchased the car I have changed the oil and oil filter, changed the air filter, and done all underbonnet checks to make sure its ready for winter such as greasing the battery terminals, checking all wiring is secure etc.. However I felt put off a bit when I read some of the comments on this site stating that the TDCi engine is totally unreliable, I now feel that I have made a mistake buying the car.

  The only other thing that is worse which also happens to both nearside doors in the last 4 months is that they also stick UNLOCKED. Anyone else experienced this, or can anyone offer advice? (I've checked the main car battery, and the remote RCL works perfectly on all other doors.) Thank you.

  Most other commands work ie: reverse assistance functions fine, all electrics ok, lights & horn ok. Had suggestions to disconnect battery, reboot disc in rear etc; but I am not happy to attempt until all info: is gathered. Be glad of any help & comments, thank you. rg7539.
• Peugeot 406 2.0 HDi 2001 x reg - I found an unconnected plug in my engine bay 29 Apr 2010 (Forum)
  The cable was thicker than a single wire and on the end is a clip on connector. I followed the cable which was almost tucked under the battery box. It then merged with some more cabling which in turn disappears into the front wing. I could find no obvious place where it could reach and plug in to. The car doesn't appear to be suffering as a result so could it be where a diagnostic machine could be plugged into?

  Try to turn it over and it click....only way to describe it is like a kids toy mahcine gun clicking noise. Tried it 3 times and then left it. Would this just be the battery? Any help appreciated!

  Two weeks ago a headlight bulb failed, and last week the alternator belt snapped! Blimey. Fortunately I was close to home when the battery warning light came on. A new belt, which also drives the water pump, cost me £6.26 from my local factor, and my indie charged me £15 to put the 626 up on his hydraulic ramps to check there were no bits remaining in the engine bay after fitting the replacement belt.

  When the problem happens I have noticed that the LT to the distributor has gone or is 0v which sort of says it is an immobiliser problem coupled with the fact that the car has to be locked and then unlocked or it can be cranked all day without starting. The only other issue is that the battery will not hold it's charge, even though it has been replaced. Would really be grateful for any advice. Regards

  Afternoon starts are fine. Probably no more than 5 deg difference in ambient temp (ie early Autumn with no frost) Battery is good, fuel from shell, fuel filter and all belts are 9 months old. Engine oil and filter 2000mls old. Any help much appreciated.

  once started all power/engine is fine and will run all day i have changed high pressure pump/rail sensor/temp sensor diagnostic chap used a small snap on machine and code p1108 was there no management light comes on had an injector test/they say there ok/yet other mechanics swear its normally those?? yesterday it wouldnt start cold also/today didnt want to 1st thing/but did with a slow turn as battery running low any idea would be greatly appreciated

  Yet another problem (sigh)W Reg ford Focus when i press the button on the key fob to lock the doors you here the locking sound followed by the opening sound, for some reason the car wont lock when i press the key fob (it did last week when i bought the car) it just automatically repoens itself, it does exactly the same when i use the key in the drivers door, the only way i can lock the door is by using the passenger side lock, i guess this does not immobalise the car ,i have just bought a new battery for the Key fob but this has made no difference, can anyone please help me (again)? thanks katherine.

  Just got my beloved 53 plate 406 HDi estate back from insurance repairers after a kind soul re-arranged the shape for me. Fab job to the bodywork but key fob won't lock/unlock doors now. Changed battery to no avail, and the key tends to just spin round in driver/passenger door, making locking/unlocking a nightmare. Repairers took it back in yesterday to local pug dealers, who say blah de blah de blah, and it will cost £170 !!
