Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - One thing after another...Japanese rubbish... 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Two weeks ago a headlight bulb failed, and last week the alternator belt snapped! Blimey. Fortunately I was close to home when the battery warning light came on. A new belt, which also drives the water pump, cost me £6.26 from my local factor, and my indie charged me £15 to put the 626 up on his hydraulic ramps to check there were no bits remaining in the engine bay after fitting the replacement belt. -
Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 97 3.3 Cuts out, mainly as reverse selected. 23 Oct 2009 (Forum)
When the problem happens I have noticed that the LT to the distributor has gone or is 0v which sort of says it is an immobiliser problem coupled with the fact that the car has to be locked and then unlocked or it can be cranked all day without starting. The only other issue is that the battery will not hold it's charge, even though it has been replaced. Would really be grateful for any advice. Regards -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 - Central locking problem 7 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Yet another problem (sigh)W Reg ford Focus when i press the button on the key fob to lock the doors you here the locking sound followed by the opening sound, for some reason the car wont lock when i press the key fob (it did last week when i bought the car) it just automatically repoens itself, it does exactly the same when i use the key in the drivers door, the only way i can lock the door is by using the passenger side lock, i guess this does not immobalise the car ,i have just bought a new battery for the Key fob but this has made no difference, can anyone please help me (again)? thanks katherine. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - remote key fob - yr 2003 HDi 11 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Just got my beloved 53 plate 406 HDi estate back from insurance repairers after a kind soul re-arranged the shape for me. Fab job to the bodywork but key fob won't lock/unlock doors now. Changed battery to no avail, and the key tends to just spin round in driver/passenger door, making locking/unlocking a nightmare. Repairers took it back in yesterday to local pug dealers, who say blah de blah de blah, and it will cost £170 !! -
Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 1998 1.6 SX Heater blower 1 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I'm no expert in car electrics. I assume that the black is connected to earth (ie -ve on the car battery) and red is live, but when I checked voltage across the red & black wires it showed zero volts with engine running and also engine off. There was approx 8.8V across the white & black and zero across orange & black. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 94 2.0d Won't start 24 Feb 2009 (Forum)
It stays on for about 12 seconds when it is very cold at the first turn of the switch then on the second turn stays on for about 5 seconds. The battery has a full charge. I was wondering if it could be the fuel cut of solinoid jammed shut but surely it would then not run if it was bump started ? Or if it is an immobilser problem? Please help as i am at the end of my temper...... -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 96 1.9d Immobiliser problems - where is solenoid ? 21 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I have the keypad lockout issue where the red & green light stay illuminated. Ive done all the "leave ignition on for 30mins etc" but still no joy, Ive disconnected the battery and tried that way, still no joy so I was wondering, How do I bypass the Immobiliser?? Im not very clued up with Citroen engines so I assume I need to know where the solenoid is to put a 12v feed to one of the wires??? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 failure for engine to start 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The following morning the car would not start and showed no response when the engine was turning over (the battery is in good order). We have had a couple of small garages trying to start the car and they have spent many hours testing and adjustments. They have even tried new injectors to no effect. Have you any advise as to what the problem might be? -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 06 2 Electronic Handbrake Towing issues 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm a new member with an issue regarding the Electronic hand brake on my C-Max. I've recently had the Alternator go which has then cause the battery to die and after taking it to a very unhelpful garage (no courtesy car and a 1 MONTH window for fixing it) I'm going to be forced to jump start it and drive it back to the other ford dealer, where I brought it, so I can have a car during Christmas. -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 97 1.2 poor running, then won't start - now solved 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The car very quickly was running badly, cut out when idling, and finally refused to start. It was full of good fuel, and had good battery etc. It was towed to my indy, who found a load of faults in the memory, finally managed to clear the memory, and then started looking at the faults that appeared. The plugs were very badly damaged, and were replaced. -

Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.2 Diesel non starter after a couple of days 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
However, just recently, if I leave it a couple of days, (on level ground) it turns over lovely (it has a new battery) but wont fire up. The only way to get it to go is to use easy start, fire it up where its running roughly, stop, leave it 15 mins then it starts 1st time. If I use it daily, the next day it starts 1st time no problem, it only appears to be when its been left a couple of days, can you point me as to what may be wrong please? -
Six month lay-up 6 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I'll over inflate the tyres. Leave the handbrake off, in gear with a brick under one wheel as the ground slopes. Disconnect battery? I assume it'll go flat otherwise with residual current drawn for clock, immobiliser, alarm etc. Spray around engine compartment with WD40 as a rodent deterrent. Any advice, comments, additions or deletions to the above? -
Land Rover Discovery (1989 - 1998) - 97 3.9 ignition problem 11 Jul 2008 (Forum)

Land Rover Defender (1946 - ) - 1989, 2.5 Turbo Diesel, Starting problems 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hiya, My old Land Rover's not starting! I have plenty of battery and fuel, but when I turn the key I get a single click and then nothing. It doesn't even try and turn over. A couple of days ago when I was starting it up in the morning it gave a high pitched whirr without turning over, but when I tried again it started normally. -
BMW - 03 1.8ti - key fob problem 8 May 2008 (Forum)
On visiting friends I found that the key fob buttons would not operate the locking and unlocking system. It was as though the key battery had gone flat after a 15 minute drive. However the key still locked and unlocked the car manually and the car operated normally. My friend who owns two Series 3 BMWs, then said that since he had moved onto Canvey Island (in Essex) a year ago, had experienced the same problem in both cars on different occasions. -
Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 53 1.6 SRS Fault 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It has always been serviced at a main dealer. Recently the SRS light on the dash came on. I tried resetting it through disconnecting the battery for a few hours, as I read on one website, but the light stayed on. After taking it to the garage, it appears the Internal SRS Control Unit has failed, which can be replaced for a cost of £523.38.
