  • any - Driving instructor quality 8 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Walking along a side street popular with driving schools for teaching 3 point turns, reverse parking etc, , I saw a learner draw up alongside a parked car, evidently to learn reverse parking. The problem was, as she had left a good 5 feet between the left of her car and a parked car (no.1), she had effectively blocked the road, as there was a parked car (no 2)  on the other side of the road.

  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 Creaking suspension ?? What could it be? 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Now after 2 weeks of driving just locally, my car sounds like i'm driving 'an old metal bedstead'..it creaks really badly on all turns now and I can even hear it on straight roads, although not as loud. Could this be the anti roll bar bushes have been damaged, or messed up with the salt & grit from snow or something much worse & am I causing more harm by continuing to drive it ??
  • Compulsory driver training for 4x4 owners 16 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Being many miles from a doctor, this was a serious situation. Following this incident the company made everyone complete an off road driving course. As 4x4s are generally large, heavy, specialised vehicles, should they be in a class of their own that requires a special licence to drive like HGVs?
  • pointless travelling 1 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Spoke to him today, and he told me that he just returned from a tour of the Wester Isles ( Western Isles ? ), driving that cherry picker ( looks like it's based on a Nissan Cabstar ) from London, having left London at 4pm , getting to Thurso (?) at 8am next day, no rest. He did a day there before driving to the Isles via a 6 hour ferry crossing somewhere.
  • Driving in Norfolk 4 Oct 2009 (Forum)
So been driving a lot in Norfolk the last few days. It's like another world. For one they have lots of one-way roads, but everybody and I mean everybody just ignores them and drives both ways up and down them. I am genuinely staggered at such widespread wilful disobedience of one-way roads.
  • Recreational motoring - your thoughts. 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
For the great majority of people driving is a chore and the car is no more than a wheeled washing machine, a domestic appliance. However, I'm sure that among most members of the backroom, there is a deeper appreciation of motoring and its nicities and perhaps even a genuine enthusiasm for driving.
