Advice on stopping boy racers please 22 Nov 2006 (Forum)
About two weeks ago, I reported a young lad driving like an imbecile near my house (overtaking on chevrons, coming into a right turn hatch, had someone decided to turn coming the other way, there would have been a fatal accident). They took the details (stupidly chavved up Peugeot, cherry bomb exhaust, etc) and thanked me. Last night, same imbecile: 50mph approx through crowded supermarket car park. Reported again, mentioning that I had previously done so. "Do you have a crime reference number?" -
5 grand to spend and enjoyment wanted 30 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Quick as you like, but one big problem for me: I don't want to look like a boy racer (I'm 33 and way past all that), or attract the attention of said plonkers. And are they not plagued with faults? Subaru Impreza - likewise the Peugeot (without the faults?)? Audi Coupe V6 or similar - I'm a little confused with the Audi range in my price bracket... Golf Mk3 VR6 - how capable is it really? Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC - I've read lots of good things about these? -
Can You Help Settle A Dispute? 26 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I know it is only 45 quid but it is the principle I am working to. We are not talking a small garage here it is a Peugeot Dealership from which I have bought 4 cars in the last 7 years, and this dealership carried out most services/repairs during this time!!!! Can anyone help/advise? -
Peugeot 207 - Bought car fault advice please 10 Apr 2025 (Forum)

Going electric? 29 Mar 2022 (Forum)
The gaffer has a job as a teacher (yes, she’s much smarter, and better looking than me) that’s around a 50 mile commute daily and despite my attempts to talk her into a nice low mileage 2015 Civic 1.6 DTEC I’ve spotted in a local private sale she’s now decided that an electric cars fits the bill as she’s putting around £170 a month in fuel into that greedy Volvo. So off we went today to look at the Nissan Leaf, Vauxhall Mokka- e and the Peugeot 2008. No worries about problems as they’d be brand new and covered by warranty for most of the ownership term. The only sensible way to run them or most pricey new cars at the moment is via a contract lease as the leasing firms get huge discounts on the cars from the manufacturers. -
MINI Cooper D - Mini CooperD DPF fault light - needing urgent help 2 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I've done a bit of reading on this and understand that this pug engine in the 07 Mini should activate an auto-regen. Despite that I know this engine on fords/Peugeot's requires a manual regen, so gave her a good spanking yesterday which initially seemed to clear the light (when re-started) but then today it came back on. It doesn't help that I think there may be a slight electrical issue with the car, I've had dash lights for ''pass air bag off'' intermittently lit on start up and also external light failure warning light. -
Ford s-max - Ford S-max reconditioned engine woes 25 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I asked for a courtesy car, but the garage refused, I put my foot down and they offered me a old peugeot 306 and i have to insure it myself!!! Ithey arent part of the motor code unfortunately and I am struggling to deal with them. The garage seem to think they have done no wrong, but I disagree. -
Pug306 bypass auto-unlock feature 24 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Thought I'd share my findings with HJ... I recently experienced central locking problems on my Peugeot 306 XTDT. When you try and lock the car (either via the remote or via the door key switch), it attempts to lock all doors, but then immediately unlocks all doors. This is a security feature should a door not be closed or locked properly. -
Is 6 Grand+5 y/o a car tipping point? 16 Feb 2007 (Forum)
My current logic is to perhaps spend say 10k and get a year old modern diesel car such as a cdti Vectra / Peugeot 407 HDI which are well equipped, possibly just as quick as the above cars in normal driving, have 2 years warranty left and keep it for longer - perhaps four years so that its actually me that gets the best life out of the car. -
Back from Japan 19 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It was interesting to see Mercedes and Volvo making quite an impact on the Japanese market, and I also spotted a few Peugeot dealers! I also found myself behind a Citroen C3 on one of the motorways. Unexpected sightings included an old Xantia driving by Shinjuku station in Tokyo, and a *very* old and battered Volvo 240 estate in the Ginza shopping area! -
Discovering the joys of diesel 14 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Deciding to go from one end of the spectrum to the other (and the car I had before the 528 was a Jap import 220bhp Prelude Type-S) - I traded the 528 in against a '99 Peugeot 106 1.5 diesel, well, I say traded in, it was a straight swap. The 106 was up at £3795, included in the swap was a full service (which I got a new power steering pump out of) and 6 months warranty (music to my ears). -

Buying a new car 22 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Nice enough car but not my cup of tea. Peugeot 208 – The dealer was quite helpful but the test drive route for the 308 was awful, all around the congested roads near the dealership and so very little chance to assess the car that well. -
Sports potato! 8 May 2020 (Forum)
Performance cars exist to gather headline praise and to bolster the image of the rest of the range. Usually it’s done well (Peugeot 405 Mi 16, 205 GTi, 306 GTi 6, Nissan Primera ZX, R21 Turbo, Focus/Fiesta ST, BMW M3/M5) but often in the past manufacturers have sadly put in too little effort. What are the least sporty sports cars you have owned or driven? -

Kia Venga 2 - 1.4 Petrol, Manual, 2016 - User Opinion 4 May 2020 (Forum)
I looked into the C-Max (Ok for Diesel, but I didn't like the petrol engines, too thirsty or not very reliable), Nissa Note (it was ok), Peugeot 2008 (It was ok), Captur (too small), Focus (ok), etc. We finally found the Venga. It is a small car outside, that make the most of the space inside, really roomy, good boot space, good high seat position (I found that position very comfortable for long journeys), and one of the best relation between price and age of the car. -
Advantages of deliberately size limited cars 5 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Yet we have accepted cars getting bigger, much bigger. If you see a regular mid size car of the 1970s like a Cortina or a Peugeot 305 next to a new car on the road it looks smaller in every dimension - particularly height and width. Yet I would challenge someone to say a new car is more spacious. I know a lot of the driver of this is euro ncap tests but I do wonder if it really is 100% of the explanation. -
Dacia Sandero 1.2 Access - Dacia Sandero 1.2 Access Review 7 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Build quality is on a par with the Fords and Vauxhalls I have owned before, and is better than the Skoda, and MILES MILES MILES MILES MILES better then the Hyundai and Peugeots! This Sandero is a solidly built vehicle and feels very robust (despite its Renault underpinnings). Reliability has been sport on over 14k miles to-date. My uncle who owns an accident repair centre is similarly impressed with its reliability. -
Ford Focus CMAX 54 1.6 TDCi Zetec - Legal Advice - Dealer's warranty 25 Mar 2013 (Forum)
He promised me to givce me full ford service history as this car is an Ex-Mobility car. At the time of purchase he didnt have the history as he was due to get the history from Peugeot Dealer as this was a part exchange. So he promised me to get it ASAP. but till date he isnt able to locate the history. I did drive the car with no issue from Bristol to London as i was driving at about 60mph max 65 on M4. -
Looking for a new motor - feedback welcome 22 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Honda Civic - (older shape) seem reliable but HJ didn't seem to rate them that highly? Also apparently prone to rust, which I'm keen to avoid. Peugeot/Renault - would not touch with a 10 foot pole, seem to have far too many faults. Corsa 1.3 CDTI - boot maybe a bit small and a bit dull inside. Also common as muck. Astra - really doesn't appeal.
