This warn is the oil has become degraded from excessive fuel oil and needs to be changed. If the car does a lot of short runs from cold, extra fuel pumped into the engine to create the heat to regenerate the diesel particulate filter may not be combusting and instead finds its way into the sump.

  With a massive following for fast 1980s Fords, the estimate of £12,000 to £16,000 might be conservative for this fully restored 1986 Capri 2.8i. The ultimate Capri had a fuel injected 2.8 litre V6 (as seen in the Scorpio and Sierra 4x4) offering 160PS, a 5-speed manual transmission, power steering and a live rear axle with limited slip diff. This 1986 car has been taken apart and carefully rebuilt with new leather on the Recaro seats, a 20% power upgrade and powertrain and suspension checked and beefed up to handle it.

  Diesel is now cheaper than petrol, which hasn’t been the case since 2001. RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: “July was a month of good news for motorists with diesel vehicles. The 5p a litre diesel saving recorded in July means the cost of filling up an average 55-litre diesel family car, such as a Ford Focus, has dropped by £3 in a month.” Williams attributes the cheaper diesel prices at lower wholesale costs, thanks to two new oil refineries in Saudi Arabia.

  When launched in 2006, the MINI saw the introduction of turbochargers for the fastest versions, and and a new British-made four-cylinder engine, co-developed with Peugeot, and assembled at Hams Hall in Birmingham – thus increasing local content compared with the 2001-2006 car. With the later introduction of MINIMALISM technologies, customers also benefited from improved fuel economy and performance in equal measure. This model also furthered MINI’s programme of customisation and personalisation, which had kicked off with the R50 in 2001. The New MINI is set for launch in the UK in Spring 2014, but production has already started in Cowley.
