  first of all if i have posted in wrong section please move, rite back to the intended subject, what i want to know is what kills car batterys once we have tempretures like those many parts of the country are having, is it that the liquid chemical freezes solid stopping the chemical reaction with the plates or does the temp just damage the chemical,would insulating the battery(similar to hot water tank at home) obviously not covering the vent holes help with preventing this problem

  Anyone know if the Varta "Blue" range (I have the E11 version) is a gel battery or standard battery using liquid acid ? Would like to know for (Smart Charger) purposes. (It is of course, "Maintenance Free") Emailed Varta in the UK but, guess what, no reponse :-) Can't call them from here (Latvia) unfortunately.

  My car battery went flat and all the sudden the mileage meter shows 651,351 miles which suppose to be showing 106,000 miles( i have a record proving this mileage 3 month back). Its an A6 Audi 1.8T car. The battery worked fine after been recharged but now the mileage have increased.

  Went to get the Chevy out of the garage today for it's fortnightly run and the battery has decided to expire even though it's on a fully automatic charger. The battery is an AC-Delco 75-6YR which has side mounted terminals. I can order one from the US. for about $120 plus shipping but before I do, does anyone know where I can get a replacement or equivalent without paying the ridiculous markup GM UK. expect?

  Hi When I start my HDi, the battery warning light stays on and is followed by three beeps. The voltage on the battery even with teh engine revved is just over 12 volts. Everything electrical still works, i.e the lights, indicators, wipers, washers etc.

  My car has just been fitted with a Unipart battery 096. Unipart say that plumbing in my car details with registration number, this battery is not the correct one for the vehicle and an 075 should have been fitted. Please, is there any consequence of running the car with this 096 other than the extra cost which I have now incurred in the purchase?

  Can anyone offer some advice ? , when I turn the ignition on there is no battery light and the battery loosing charge . When the battery gets low any lights that are switched on start flashing and the air bag warning light comes on and the stereo turns off and will not come back on.

  both key fobs for my t reg peugeot 306 HDI have gradually failed over the last few months obvioulsy due to battery failure. having now inserted new batteries (3V CR1620) in both fobs there is still no life. I have tried a different brand of battery also. surley both fobs can't be faulty? I have checked that the batteries were put in the right way up!

  My son's Fiat Punto 1.2SX (1998) battery keeps going flat after a week or so if he doesn't use it, its a new battery as the old one exhibited the same problem and was 'tired' anyway. The alternator is charging OK, the car exhibits no other problems.

  As most modern cars have electronic management systems , are there any safeguards required when disconnecting/changing the car battery. I know about the Radio Security code but wondered if these management systems also "lost" their memory on disconnection of the battery supply for a long period of time ? I`ve been "told " , that on Fords , the engine management system "recalibrates" itself over the next 10 miles.

  One of my work-mates has a early 90's 1.6 Primera. Last night, he removed the battery to charge it, but when it was re-fitted this morning the car will not start. The engine is spinning over on the starter but will not fire, and yes there is petrol in it. Any ideas anyone???

  Hi all, My VW Fox has drained its battery and I'm stumped as to how to jump-start it. I've taken off the battery cover - pictured in https://i.imgur.com/BybCGa8.jpg - but there's still no way to get the positive dragon clip onto the positive terminal that I can see.

  I have a Chrysler Grand Voyager XS which is suffering from this problem covered previously on this site about eating batteries. The batteries hold their voltage but the CCA gets screwed for some reason. In my last voyager which was not a grand version I put a Bosch S4 096 which lasted until I scrapped the vehicle.
