Advice on estate cars...... 13 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Having returned to the UK after six years abroad, I am in the market for an estate vehicle ( a young family that likes the outdoor life, camping etc) I have £6.5K to spend with nothing to Px. I have so far test driven Mondeo's, a Laguna, Peugeot 406 and a couple of Volvo's a V40 and an 850. I have been most taken with the Volvos, especially the 850. However £6.5K does not seem to go to far when looking at 850's, typically I am looking at a P reg. with almost a 100K on the clock for the engine size and trim spec I desire. -
If you really want to pick fault with company car 10 Dec 2001 (Forum)
s a lovely car and has an attractive CO2 g/km tax rating (but any car would do) so, you?re looking forward to collecting a Peugeot 406 2.2HDi 136 GTX. If you allow your employer to provide fuel for private use in this company car, the Inland Revenue will include in your income tax affairs an annual ?fuel scale charge? of £3,620. -
Peugeot 106 1.1 1997 - Welding - DIY 24 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Hi, Just wondering.... Looking under the back arch of my little princess warrior , 1997 peugeot 1.1 ,petrol, 60 and a 1/4 bhp :) I noticed the paint was coming away , only very slightly..but.. tapping around.. bits started to fall off ! http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m147/liammcl_2006/wheel%20arch%20-%20passenger%20rear%20-%20feb%2019%202017/Day%202%20-%20temp%20patch%20and%20clean%20to%20metal/110_4347.jpg I spent ages making a template (which I am starting to think that I don't need?) -
Peugeot 308 - Ball joint anti-roll bar bushes & drop link 24 Aug 2014 (Forum)
P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }P.western { } Here's the method I used to replace the strut ball joint, anti-roll bar drop links and bushes. Having only recently acquired a 2009 Peugeot 308 2ltr HDI 136bhp, I was concerned at the front end suspension knocks and clunks. I’ve replaced the ns/os “lower wishbone” ball joint, anti-roll bar drop links and anti-roll bar bushes. -

Buying car for export 5 Nov 2020 (Forum)
What options do I have when it comes to insurance ? P.S The car I want to buy is a really cheap Peugeot 407 2.0 Hdi manufactured in 2008 if that matters - I will just drive it back to my home country and probably send it for scrap or sell it for parts since we drive in the opposite side of the road back home... -

Citroen C15 Champ 2002 Diesel - Cracked block/gasket on Citroen van, advice needed 22 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Second question - if it looks like the block/gasket is knackered - I might think about putting a different engine in her, but what I'd like to know is what engines other than the standard for this model, may be compatible? EG: are there any compatible Peugeot engines? Or any others? Thanks for reading through all that! -
Lots of cool retro cars on tv these days 14 Apr 2017 (Forum)
I started thinking about this again the other night after watching the first 2 episodes of 'The team'. One of the main characters was driving a Peugeot 604!. Metallic brown of course!. I recently watched the first series of Stan Lee's Lucky Man, and while i wasnt very impressed with the series otherwise, James Nesbitt's character drove a very sweet E28 5 series BMW. -
How low can you go? 26 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Mitsubishi Carisma 1.9 DID bought for £700, spent around £400 over the year and sold for £1,000. Loss £100. Peugeot 306 bought for £500, £350 on new clutch and a service and sold for £750 after 10mths. Loss £100. Currently I've an X plated Ford Cougar, bought for £300 and in great order but a bit greedy that passed an Mot needing just a set of pads and today I'm picking up an 05 Mazda 3 I got for nothing with 11mths mot. -
Citroen C8 - Low insurance offer - valued at twice the price 14 May 2013 (Forum)
In the meantime, we have bought a replacement vehicle. After much looking around, we settled on a peugeot 807 (05 plate), so an identical car but with a different badge. It is a year younger than the one that was written off, not as tidy inside and out, but pretty much equivalent other than that. -
All these commuter questions..... 5 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I am currently overseas for a few days and driving a rented Peugeot 107. With the exception of a few very minor niggles it is all the car a person needs. It is reasonably comfortable, more than able to hold its own at 70+ mph and doing at least 50+ mpg at the same time. -
Car decisions - can't get past the warranty 8 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Have looked at all the usual suspects, Golf, Auris, Astra, Focus, i30, Ceed, Civic, 1-series (steering clear of Peugeot and Renault though) We are looking at about £10k budget, less if possible and maybe a fraction more but would have to be great deal. Requirements are reasonably spacious in back seats and boot (baby on way), ecconomical (mileage c.14,000 a year) and coming from a 75mpg Smart (eek) and of course reliable. -
Choices:- Focus 11 tdci zetec or C4 11 hdi VTR+ 4 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have discounted the Honda civic as they don't do a diesel model now, the Toyota auris is also out of the picture due to being too boring and staid and very very dull to drive. The Peugeot 308 is again discounted due to poor access to the boot and a very high loading lip. The megane was a very strong possibility as I currently have a grand scenic tdci but the drive was uninspiring and didn't fill me with much confidence ( lack of feel through steering wheel and lack of response from the throttle). -
Citroen Xsara Picasso - Diesel fuel pump leak in engine - Advice needed 20 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I took it to a local garage and they said they last tried replacing a o-ring on the same kind of engine (Peugeot) and it just made the problem worse, the reckon a new fuel pump will be the best option. The only factors that put me out here (aside from cost) is the possibility this has been caused by the fuel filter being replaced recently at its major service. -
Nissan Almera replacement 18 May 2010 (Forum)
Also on my list would be a Mazda 3, SEAT Leon, Kia Rio( which I've heard are excellent value and have a long warranty), Honda Jazz, Vauxhall Astra, or Peugeot 207. I am planning on spending about 7k before trade in so what would you chaps recommend I go for? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.25 cooling problems 6 May 2008 (Forum)
i got a 96 model 1.25 zetec fiesta ( mileage says 7000 but its had 7 owners before me and no service history so thats probably 107000 ) and while stuck in traffic today i noticed the temp gauge slowly creeping up to a lot higher than it ever has been ( it never goes any higher than the " O " in the normal part of the gauge but today for the first time since i owned the car it went upto the letter " A " ) . After owning a few peugeot diesels im pretty paranoid about temp gauges so i always keep an eye on them so i turned the heaters on full to help cool it down and pulled over . the water level was fine and when i opened the cap it wasnt overpressured like the head gasket had gone . since this has happened the temp gauge goes up and down noticably when im going up or down hills . it hasnt overheated yet but does anyone know how i can cure it and get the engine temp to remain constant again ? -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 - Anyone experienced clutch problems ? 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Rarely have I heard of a clutch failing in any car at 43k miles, unless it's constantly been driven erratically. Most cars I have come across have covered well in excess of 100k on the original clutch. My old Peugeot 309 1.9D was still on its original clutch at 150k and my current 306 1.9TD covered 172k on its original clutch. My mate's 1998 Passat TDi is also approaching 150k on its original clutch and my boss's BMW M5 has just had a clutch replacement at 120k. -
21st century car market thru 70s eyes... 30 Jun 2007 (Forum)
To me (and this is someone who was a nipper in the 70s but car mad) the big things I noticed were: 1) Big change in the cars driven by the middle classes - the large peugeot 504 estates /volvos 240s/260s which were the staple of every public school car park then seem to have almost all been supplanted by German makes...large sensible French cars seem to have died out...same with the Granada/Opel Ricord types.
