• Vauxhall zafira 2.0 dti - lack of acceleration 19 Feb 2014 (Forum)
  i have just bought a zafira 2001 dti, there was a lack of acceleration up to 2-5 rpm, then it takes off, i felt that i was putting my foot down further than i should be, the car runs great once i am moving, cruises at 70 &  put your foot down accelerates no prob, a engine control speed sensor has been mentioned, saying car isnt getting the right amount of fuel at low revs, is this so? could it be anything else? agr valve? is this a easy fix? i dont know where to start thanks ROB

  Apart from lousy fuel consumption, 28mpg on the M5 yesterday at 3000 to 3500 rpm. No other probs except for the following. When starting after use (engine warm or hot) it fires up and ticks over but there is absolutely no response to the throttle?

  No problem on cold start or hot start immediately after stopping. If you wait 10 minutes the car does not want to start. It is almost as if there is fuel starvation of something alike. If you try long enough it start after a few stutters. Please help.

  I am to,d when plugging in the diagnostics tester all is fine for a while and then the ECU zeros on all fuel related sensing whilst all other ECU values are fine. When running on petrol emissions are a challenge but it will drive as I am told the ECU continues to operated with predefined settings but as LPG works in real time it won't run.

  bought a 08 focus 1.8 tdci from a dealer ,straight away engine management light on ,had seen mechanic day before servcing car ,so took back  codes came back with sticking actuator vane , so he put some additive in fuel and told to give it a couple of good runs without over revving engine . still massive lag on turbo , to point can be dodgy pulling out in traffic  management light back on , back to dealer tomorrow gave me 28 days engine and gearbox warranty , so should fix any else had problems with these motors

  When i start my car in the morning, i turn the key and there is no turn over in the engine. But all the lights come on, and the fuel pump is normal. I bump start it and it starts, then i stop the car. Turn the engine off. I then turn the key and it starts fine. This happens quite often. Then if turn the engine off for 10-15 mins it will start fine.

  I can’t see any loose or broken pipes and the exhaust system seem to be OK. Someone here had the same problem and they said it was a faulty fuel injector seal, can anyone confirm that would cause the problem or could be something else.

    Has to be a estate and since I'm going to be doing 2k per month of motorway miles it needs fuel efficient and reliable I have looked at the long term car hire and it's about 450-800 UKP per month plus the excess Anyone offer any other options and what type of car should I be looking at, If I decide to buy a cheap S/H car (bear in mind that it needs to be reliable ;-))

  My limited knowledge things its either turbo related or air sensor?   Its just had a service whereby the fuel filter was changed along with the usual culprits. It was doing it before the service too so nothing has been upset.  Cheers

  I've changed the spark plugs and sprayed the electrical components with WD40 and there is fuel in the car.  Any ideas of what else I can try - may be a newer battery?

  Once the misfiring starts it gets worse and on occasions it has bee na struggle to get home, particulary if there are hills. There are no warning lights. In general it feels like fuel starvation. Any thoughts anyone?

  Wondering what would be best suited car for my journey, I drive sensibly, sticking to around 60 MPH to save fuel and cash :-) Don't over rev the car, breaking smootly .. I was thinking a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Edge,  or maybe a 1.6 engine, spending around £6 - 8K. Any advise would be great, hope I provided the right info & sorry for posting again

  hello I'm having a small problem with my 2009 Vauxhall Insignia . The dpf light is on and car is underpower and uses more fuel than it use to be. I went to the dealer they done regeneration and software update but after one week the fault comes back. Did any of you guys discover similar problem? What is the best solution? Dealer quoted me for new filter.

  my polo will not start when the engine gets hot. it turns oveer but will not go the whole hogg!!! ive had it in the garage and they have replaced - the fuel filter, the o2 sensor & the coolant sensors. When it does start it will only go a short distance before it wants to cut out again, When i did drive it to and from work (10mins max.) if i switched the engine off, and then try to start it about 5mins later it wouldnt budge. like i said it will turn over but thats it.

  Whilst waiting my car was a citroen and I've just seen a citroen c4 automatic 1.6 2007 with 120000 but it's diesel and has amazing fuel rates, it's around £3200. Any experience with the c4's? Thanks :)

  When temp drops below 22, no start, 2nd try and perfect. The rest of the day no problems. The colder it gets it could take a 3rd try. ???? The fuel filter was changed a year ago. Can you help please . By the way I live in Howick, KZN, South Africa. The lowest temp where I live, the garage temp is +- 0 The oil filter was changed 1 year ago as well, I use magnatech oil.

  I stop after 3 hours roughly then every two or so.. In the pub someone said it must be possible to fuel up with the perfect breakfast to keep energy and brain power supplied over a long period. My idea is a full English not forgetting fried bread..Porrage. Toast and lots of jam?  Black coffee?

  I had started the car from cold the night before to put it in the garage, so it only moved a few yards. Am I right in thinking that rich fuel in the exhaust system is not allowing the car to start to protect the cat? If  this is the problem, how long might it take to "dry out" - I have left it 24 hours and still will not start.

  So it would seem something is causing the waste-gate to dump the gas - where does the 'signal' come from on these (intake pressure, fuel pump), before taking it to the dealer is there anything a competent DIY'er can do to repair or confirm the diagnosis further on this?
