How does public judge reliability? 6 Jul 2007 (Forum)
We, the so called car boffins, often bash various manufactuers here especially French and Italian ones for their reliability woes. But people continue to buy Renault, Citroen, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Fiat etc. Majority of common people are also buying Vauxhalls and Fords, in spite of their not so outstanding reputation for reliability. I often see people boast that "My Corsa (or Mondeo) never broke down - so it is the best car." -
Lane Rage 18 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Today, delivering the mail ,i came up against my first Lane Rage. Driving up a long lane, with a slight bend in the middle ,i met a small car (think it was a Peugeot),we both stopped,i looked in my mirrors to see if a/anyone was behind me and b/ where the nearest pull in was. There was no one behind ,but it was a long way back to a layby ,so as i was in a Sherpa and he was in a small car i thought that he could reverse back, and after a short pause this he did. -
306 1.8 8v Sedan catalyst cost 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I leave tomorrow to work abroad so the missus will do the ringing around. Also, OEM or aftermarket for the cat? TVM. BTW: 10/10 to Peugeot. Not only did the original system last eleven years but a woven stainless steel retaining strap is fitted between bodyshell and centre section clamp; this strap has not only restrained the now free end of the pipe but has probably also stopped the exhaust manifold flange being broken by leverage. -

Other big losers were Alfa Romeo down 20.8%, Jeep down 20.6% and worrying for Jaguar down 19.1%. Seat & Smart both down 14.4%, Peugeot down 14.0%, Renault down 7.7%, Citreon down 5.7%, Ford down 5.3%, Mazda down 4.3%, Volvo down 4.1%, Nissan down 3.9%, Hyundi down 2.6% and Vauxhall down less than Ford at 2.4%. -
306 d turbo lacks power. 30 May 2005 (Forum)
Also when i got the car the boy wonder who ownded it before me had a straight through stainless steel "performance" exhaust on it, I have changed this back to a normal exhaust(non-cat even though it had one originally, peugeot told me that!))and regained some power, but still not as much as the other 306. The maintenace was poor, the oil was practically non-exsistant and what was there resembled tar! and the air filter was just as black so I have changed the oil and air filters, oil and put cleaners through the air and fuel systems, but this is my first diesel and I'm struggling. -
Time for a change? Opinions? 17 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hi Back Room, Not sure who is aware but i have a 1994 Peugeot 306 1.9 diesel non turbo. This car is cheap to run/inusre etc. But being a 10 year old car parts wear out, i have owned this car for 10 months and spent £800 on parts/labour and i only bought it for £1000. -
Band van 18 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I'm thinking that £4k all in should be enough to buy a four year old Citroën Relay or Desptach or the equivalent Fiat or Peugeot. Can anyone suggest any better than that? -

Pathetic dealer behaviour 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
My best mates gone to Iraq for 6 months so I am looking after his wife and 6 kids. Just before he went they bought a new Peugeot 807 and have had problems from day one. Unfortunately as he is now away it seems to be me who has to deal with the idiots at the local dealer. The problems are the remote central locking works when it feels like it, the steering rack is knackered and needs replacing, full carpet mats were ordered with the car and have failed to appear and my freind has not recieved his cashback deal from them. -
Banger, £3k or 3 year old? 25 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Ok, The scenario is: I've had enough of the constant niggling problems from my '95 M Peugeot 306 DTurbo, and im selling it. Decided. It has 129,000 miles, and is in good nick otherwise, i can hide most of the other problems for the length of a test drive (Note: Please no-one on this site buy this car!) -
Dead Fuel Injection Pump? 17 Nov 2003 (Forum)
ll be an easy one for the experienced guys out there! I had cause to disconnect my fuel tank on my Peugeot 309 GLD 1.9 diesel (1988), creating an almighty air lock in the feeder pipe to the fuel injection pump. I reconnected the tank but the engine sort of half spluttered but never actually fired. After flattening the battery, I left it on charge overnight. -
Peugeot 207 1.6Hdi 110bhp Sport - 35,095miles - DPF Removal 16 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Just wanted to share the recent trauma I went through when I had the DPF removed on my Peugeot 207 1.6Hdi 110bhp Sport and, had it not been for OMG! PERFORMANCE ( www.omg-performance.com ) who put things right after the shambolic & unprofessional work carried out by s******* Ltd, my car would still have error codes on its dash; would have failed all MOTs & probably also suffered irreparable damage! -
Interest free 29 May 2024 (Forum)
I’ve always liked hot hatches, ask me what my favourite car is at almost any point in my life and a fun to drive yet useful family hot hatch of some sort would pop to mind immediately. Peugeot 306 GTi-6, Citroen ZX Volcane, Renault 19 16v, Renault Clio 16v, Honda Civic Type R EP3, Peugeot 205 GTi, Metro GTi were all a hoot on a twisty B road yet affordable to ordinary folks like me. They weren’t over endowed with too much power, they didn’t come with feel sapping electric steering racks that sucked the fun out of driving. -
Peugeot 208 2015 - Small Claims Court to reject car? 28 Jul 2023 (Forum)

They’re good to look at and to drive again though I wish they’d take a Ford or Mazda gearbox apart to learn how to do it properly, it’s always been a weak point with Peugeot. -
Suggestions for used car please 12 Oct 2021 (Forum)
She is keen to buy from a car supermarket or equivalent where there is no haggling - this is where they bought the Clio 3 years ago and that suited them fine. They are wondering about Peugeot 2008/3008, having seen them locally and liked the look of them, but open to suggestions. All suggestions welcomed! -
Has anyone used this .. - type of braing. 2 May 2020 (Forum)
My recently purchased Peugeot 3008 comes with an electric parking brake as standard. This is the first car I have owned with this type of brake, and I am struggling to master it. With the car on a level surface there is no problem, but pulling away from stationary on an upward slope is causing me problems. -
