  • Shell Driver's Club / V-Power Club 26 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Hello, I have had a Shell Driver's Club card for a few years, a couple of months ago they sent me a V-Power Club card, apparently this offers additional benefits on the purchase of V-Power fuel though points can also be accrued on purchases of normal Shell fuel. I now have a letter saying that following the withdrawal by Citi of the Shell Mastercard I will be able to collect double points on my Shell Driver's Club card account, no mention of the V-Power Club card.

  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 04 1.6 front springs 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The front spring has cracked on my car suddenly and I'm at a loss as to how this could happen. 50000 miles on the clock, mortorway and A road driving, a wee bit of to the shops driving too. My list of failures in the last 8 months are: turbo, EGR valve, fuel cap sensor, 2 wheel bearings, full set of pads, rear discs and yet more pads, battery and the fuel stuff toped up. the anti pollution warning light came on a month ago and went off, but I'm sure it will retrun.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 1905 immobiliser 19 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I have just changed the engine 1905 cc turbo diesel. I took the engine out of citroen zx the same year as 306. I have fitted the fuel pump from the original peugeot engine because it has two electrical connectors, a blue one and a black one .The pump on the citroen only had the black connection . I think Im having problems with immobiliser - the starter motor does turn on the key but the pump is not delivering any fuel to the injectors - obviously the stop solinoid not getting live.
  • More economical car wanted for 160 mile commute 19 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Please can anyone advise if it would be worth selling this and buying a diesel and how much I could expect my fuel bill to reduce if I did? If it won't reduce by much then it's probably not worth the hassle or expense of changing the car. I only drive automatic so would need to find an automatic diesel. Any general tips on reducing my fuel bill would be gratefully received!
  • Consumption improved 15%... 22 Sep 2009 (Forum)
, ?Tripmeter? and odometer readings were not affected. The analogue fuel gauge seems correct but now I can?t be sure. How can I rectify the faults? The radio settings were all shot, too, but easily re-entered. Nothing else seems to have been affected.

  • Audi - 3.2FSI vs 3.0TDI 1 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Hi, Do you have any experience driving any of this (primary in B7/B8 Audi A4)? I know that the new 3.0TDI is probably better (acceleration, fuel consumption, torgue) but it's considerably more expensive than 3.2FSI. Putting fuel consumption on the side as I don't drive much (5-10k a year) how would you compare these 2 engines? I'm interested mostly in Auto transmission which in case of A4 it will be tiptronic.
  • Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 94 2.0 Odd starting problem 14 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I've got the vehicle above and quite simply, it won't start. Spark is good, but the ECU isn't chucking in any fuel. No injector clicking, nout. However...if you pour a bit of fuel into the intake to get it started, suddenly the ECU wakes up and starts fuelling keeping it running. Stop and restart it's absolutely fine.
  • Trustworthy dealership? 20 May 2009 (Forum)
Father-in-law recently had his car serviced and MOT'd at the main dealer. He was told it needed a new fuel tank and was relieved of £600. For a Fiesta fuel tank. Is this excessive? Just seems a bit wrong that a service and MOT ends up costing an OAP the best part of a grand for a Fiesta he bought from them, albeit used, just over a year ago.
  • Nissan Primera II (1996 - 1999) - Motorway driving made easy... 28 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I currently drive a Nissan Primera SX and love the comfort and security but as I'm using it mainly for two long distance drives of around 500 miles a week I was thinking of downsizing to a smaller car and saving money on petrol. However I'm confused as to fuel consumption for motorway driving. Is it worth buying say a Yaris? Or Jazz? Or is the Primera going to be near enough matching them on fuel consumption on the motorway? I cruise between 70 and 75. From what i can gather, with the supermini's their main saving grace is urban driving rather than frugality when it comes to motorways.

  • Citroen Xsara Picasso (2000 - 2010) - 06 1.6HDI Drop in MPG after service. 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Has anyone else had the same problem ? Shouting amended - I also guess you meant to say that fuel consumption has increased rather than dropped so I've changed that
  • Mercedes Benz C-Class W203 (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.2 won't start after fixing diesel leak 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
A pal was asked to look at a fuel leak on a neighbours 53 Merc. There was diesel dripping from a hose from the fuel filter where it connects onto a black component at the top of the engine at the front. An o-ring had failed. This was replaced and now the car won't start.
