    hello guys i recenlty bought my first bmw 316ti se compact, 2002 model few days ago it is coverted to lpg (gas) today while driving, it gone over heat. i stopped for a bit and when it get cool down, i drove it to home. it was over heat near the red mark, i turn off the engine. i can hear a whistle noise and the noise was on for an hour.

    Good evening fellow petrolheads, Have just bought a 51 Escort van with LPG conversion and it goes very well and cheaply. It is a bit slow to return to tickover when on overrun but settles to about 800rpm which seems a bit high. At its recent MOT the mechanic suggested marking the idle speed control valve then taking out its retaining bolts and rotating the valve a touch to reduce the revs.

    This really helps me keep costs down, as I do around 18k miles a year for my job. Sadly, it's getting much harder to get hold LPG where I live (and the price has doubled in three years) Also the current model I have has gone up by £4000 in three years, so I doubt I'd be able to buy another one (and keep the monthly payments under £200 per month)  I have been thinking about getting either a three year old electric Mg5 estate, or a hybrid Honda Jazz (current model) I'm just a bit worried about doing lots of miles with a 2nd hand car.

    I was talking to an Audi technician the other day who said it may be down to having the petrol tank at a low level, as this car had a factory induced missfire if the level of petrol was too low. I have never ever heard of this one before, but as I normally run the car on LPG and deliberatly keep the petrol level low (less weight to lug around) it may have some legs. Anyway I topped the car right up on Friday and so far no missing, but it can go for weeks with not missing anyway, but that could be because I had topped it up!!

Bougt it Nov 07 {typo corrected} from a specialist LPG dealer in {deleted - naming the location is as good as naming/shaming as it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out who you're referring to} - do I have any consumer rights left?

    Hi, Just purchased a 2003 Astra Elegance estate (Petrol/dual fuel LPG). 1598cc 5 speed manual. Can the air conditioning system be the sole cause (as suggested by my GP) of the nausea, headaches, cold/flu like symptoms that my partner and I have started to jointly encounter since using this vehicle?

    we\'ve just bought a \'98 saab 900s bifuel (petrol/lpg saab installed) at what seems like a pretty good price @£2500. It has done about 110,000 miles . The gas was not working when we bought it but the vendors said it was a fairly cheap repair. After conventional service the car was running nicely and after the gas supply specialist service the gas was kicking in and the repair was not too expensive.

    Would I have to inform them that I have placed a sealant in my tyres which could hide potentially dangerous damage to the tyre, without being aware that any damage had been done? Reason for asking: My car is converted to LPG, and then tank is in the spare-wheel well, and yes, you guessed it, I don't carry a spare. So, I was contempting on getting some of this tyre sealant put in my tyres. Thanks

    I have found the fuel consumption to be fairly reasonable considering the engine size, but having tried a few autos, and observing the way the engine revs like mad and stays in low gear for ages, I bet the auto would use loads more petrol. As it is I can live with the present consumption and I'm not going to bother with an lpg job, especially on a RR worth about £2500. Lastly, there is a scrap place in Farnworth near Manchester that only deals in landrover bits. I just got a new rad there for £60 with a 6 month guarantee!

    From what I have read its best to stay away from the newer tdci,cdti,hdi etc... and stick the the old simple diesels, is this true? Also contemplating an LPG are these any and whats the best to go for? Or even petrol jap car just for the reliability although less mpg. Any help or advice would be muchly appreciated. Thanks

    This particular 1996 4.2 petrol / LPG Nissan Patrol Auto had grinding brakes . Garage took the rear wheels off and discovered deeply scored discs ( the fronts were replaced by a different garage about 8 months ago ). This vehicle is a 3rd car and does about 3000 miles annually .

    I have 2 questions: 1) I have not got a brochure for an early car. Are there any essential options I should make sure the car has? I guess LPG may be desirable! 2) I am not in a hurry and am happy with my existing car -well it goes and stops me getting wet going from A to B. For the sake of 6 months, would it be a good idea to buy one cNov-Dec this year as they are an unpopular vehicle what with VED and fuel price rises and therefore may fall significantly in price in that time?

    Exhaust is slightly sooted at the rear box exit pipe and once or twice starting a small puff of blue smoke has been observed that burns off very quickly. Say for every 300 miles (whilst running on LPG) I am adding a good 1/2 litre of semi synth as top up. I have not run the vehicle for the same distance on petrol though to see if the same happens with oil loss then. I was told by the dealership, AMS of Grimsby, that oil loss was to be expected due to increased running temperatures. 1/2 a litre for every 300 miles though?

    To be honest, I don't need such a big car and have also been considering the Almera/Focus/Astra. I cover around 17K private miles a year. Perhaps I should also be looking at a diesel or lpg? Getting to work involves 20 mins traffic free urban, 20 mins motorway queueing and 30 mins traffic free motorway, so the car needs to be comfortable and reasonably quiet at motorway speeds. At the moment I have ruled out anything French, Italian or VAG but am completely open to advice/opinions.
