Peugeot 306 Fitting Amplifier! 11 Nov 2004 (Forum)
It's a diesel engine, so I don't want to inadvertantly let any fumes through, obviously positioning and correct gromets are important! Chris. -
Chassis dynamics? 8 Aug 2004 (Forum)
With most manufacturers trying to out-do each other with the best handling cars in all catagories,i can understand this in sports cars and the like, but in the humdrum family saloon is it so important about having a pin-sharp chassis which encourages you to drive harder causing the kids to throw up and the missus to scream? -
Radio frequency 20 Mar 2004 (Forum)
The question is - will it pick up uk radio frequency - different uk stations - including using the search function? Or will it have to be modified/ tuned to do this? I suppose anyone who has imported a japanese car will know this? -
Fiat Barchetta 1 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I read a thread on here a few weeks ago saying that Fiat UK were no longer intending to import the revamped Barchetta, but according to their website it is availible in "limited quantities" and lo and behold I got my What Car? through the post today and it has a road test of the revamped Barchettta in it. -
Justice for all 17 Feb 2002 (Forum)
I see in today's Telegraph that a government minister's chauffeur has escaped a ban after being caught doing 106mph on the M4 because of "The importance of his job". Good to see that with only 30 million licence holders in the UK the courts recognise the difficulty in finding people to drive MP's up and down the country. -
Ford Focus - Broker4Cars 29 Nov 2001 (Forum)

Toyota - Yaris Verso replacement 30 Oct 2012 (Forum)
As an aside I never ceased to be amazed at much emphasis people place on a car's appearance. From my point of view, reliability is of paramount importance, which I suppose rules out French cars! Fuel economy not a factor and would much prefer petrol to diesel. It might come to just running on the Yaris for a few more years, and accept it might need some major repairs, if there are no better options. -

Honda Prelude Type-S, opinions? 31 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I have an opportunity to buy a 1997 Prelude Type-S, Japanese import. (Nutter spec, 2.2 VTEC, 230bhp, 0-60 in 6 seconds, 150mph top end, you know the drill.) 75000 miles, unmodified from original spec, excellent overall condition, all proper documentation tracking it right the way back to Japan, was imported to the UK in 1999. -
Follow on to car jacking thread 27 Nov 2001 (Forum)
UK fuel duty is there because its a travel contained within the UK situation, whereas airlines are operating an import/export business and it needs the whole world to agree on duties. My thoughts, what about domestic flights? Next time I put thick end of £50's worth of diesel in how far do you think I would get with the line that I should not pay duty am on my way to a meeting re exporting UK products and importing some wine, beer & ciggies. -
Gentlemen of Japan 27 Jan 2001 (Forum)
I am considering buying a 4x4 direct from Japan, doing the importing myself to save the money that would normally go into an importer's pocket. It seems you can either commission a company in Japan to check a car, then bid for you at auction - or alternatively buy directly from a firm specialising in secondhand car exports. -

DCT......TCT? 14 Apr 2017 (Forum)
It seems that before long there will be a new breed of transmission, possibly with 3 clutches and as many as 11 gears!. You would think sorting the 'issues' with dual clutch transmissions would be more important than making them even more complex? Oh dear Cue rolling of eyes! -
Why do we use salt on roads? 3 Apr 2014 (Forum)
The Mazda thread on this site included a note from the US-based writer that their roads are not salted, so rust inhibiting was seen as less important. Given a typical US winter, why not, and why then are ours salted quicker than a packet of Walkers when heading below 2C?
