Fiesta 1.4 2003 - Ford Fiesta 1.4 2003 leak-off test 27 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Hello, I want to do a leak-off test by myself but when I removed the air cleaner, I forced a little problems. I can reach the back fuel pipe from the injectors which I should remove to put their the tester's pipes. I see something like that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXDzxYYxDsE the video is not of my car, but mine is the same. -

rover 400 turnover/starting 29 Dec 2013 (Forum)
a qusetion regarding a possible future starting problem when i turn my ignition over to the III mark on my rover (just before turning the car over) the srs warning light goes on/off etc and a whirring noise(i guess the fuel pump) kicks in and out and its starts first time no problem but sometimes when i go through the same process the whirring noise does not appear then the starter turns over several times before it starts, when its starts,no problem anybody got any ideas on this, could it be a potential problem about to manifest itself.. -
Any - Diesels cutting out 14 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Could the two be related? While I know many do not believe in premium diesel, my car is filled only non-Bio fuel. My reasoning being that the extra cost of 10 cent per litre is worth it as an insurance policy against such problems. -
peugeot expert van 1.9 d - starting problem 3 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I have had it in the garage as the first time it struggled to start it was frosty so I assumed glow plugs , they cannot remove as a alan bolt has been rouned off , the advice I got was to try pumping the small push button to prime the fuel, This has had no affect 73k on clock w reg well serviced .. -
Mazda 6 2008 - Diesel Run-away - Air intake cut off 26 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I was just wondering that if a car, such as the Mazda 6 diesel 2008 2.0tdi was to run-away on its own fuel, by turning off the ignition - would it cause the run-away to stop? My main reason for asking specifically about this car, is that i need to know if it has an air intake valve which shuts off when the ignition is off....knowing one of the ways to stop an engine run-away is to starve it of air. -

mazda 3 1.6d - Real life mpg after 6 months 27 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Hi I'm really pleased with my mazda 3 1.6 D I bought new ( pre reg ) 6/12 ago. However , despite a lot of care I seem to be unable to get more than c48 mpg...the fuel monitor seems pretty accurate, and the brim to brim tests give a similar figure. I ran it in as per Honest john advice My old corolla diesel seemed to improve with age economywise, is it worth chatting to mazda or is this real life figure par for the course ? -
Any - Why I won't be letting the train "take the strain" 21 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Total distance approx. 550 miles and probably a minimum of 11 hours driving time. Estimated fuel cost in my van £110, train fare (Standard class) £262. Can anyone give me a valid reason why the train fare should be almost 250% more expensive than using my own vehicle? -
New trader - private use of stock in trade 6 Apr 2013 (Forum)
How does this work with HMRC? Should I pay all petrol invoices myself, or should the company (ltd) pay the fuel bills and charge me for the private mileage per mile, (is there a standard rate here?). Trying not to incur a large personal tax liability for use of a 'company car'. Help appreciated Mike -
Citroen C5 Tourer 3.0 HDi Exclusive - Unladen weight v kerb weight? 1 Apr 2013 (Forum)
The "unladen weight" of a vehicle is the weight equipped and ready for operation on the road including the body, fenders, oil in motor, radiator full of water, with five gallons of gasoline or equivalent weight of other motor fuel. What's the difference? My handbook tells me the ULW is 1802Kg and the KW 1877Kg. So, going by the definitions above, is the extra 75Kg the weight of an average driver? -
Aftermarket petrol treatment? 11 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I intend to consider the battery as well, but I wonder if it could do with some form of cleaning out of the fuel system and cylinder heads given its use for mainly short cold journeys. As a retired person his longest regular trip is delivering 'meals on wheels' for the old folk - he is 78! Any recommendations for some treatment fluid that could work. -
Advice needed car allowance car 35k miles a year 7 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi I currently do about 35k miles a year and get a car allowance of £320 a month after tax plus 20p a mile fuel allowance. The allowance stipulates the car must be less than 5 years old and you get paid more the lower the emissions. I currently run a Hyundai I30 that is coming up to five years old and not really big enough. -
2001 Peugeot 306 2.0l hdi - Hot starting fault 17 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I can get it to start with a little squirt of brake cleaner and then it runs with no problem untill i try to start it again. What is really strange is that I changed the fuel filter housing and it was fine for a few days then slowly developed the fault again. I have also changed the cam sensor. Mervyn -
Skoda Superb 1.9 tdi 130 - engine surging when de-powering 22 Sep 2012 (Forum)
basically, the car runs absolutely fine until I'm travelling at highish speed in 4th or 5th gear, when i take the gas off to coast or to slow down, the engine gives little surges and then depowers. It's almost as if there is fuel injected and then cut off - the result is a jerky deceleration. If I use the cruise control it doesn't happen. Any thoughts? -
Classic Car VED Registrations 18 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Now if those were exempt too most of us would probably pay several hundred a year back into the economy in repairs and fuel taxes. I wonder where the cut off point is for the government. -

Been looking at estates and MPVs but so many to choose . I need to keep the Tax down prefer under £100 for 6 months and half decent fuel economy Up to 2 litre if diesel and up to 1.8 if petrol. I don't do many miles about 7000 last year which is short commute and driving holidays . Does anyone know what Car Manufactures I should concentrate on and which to avoid. -
Ford Focus 1.8TDi - diesel coughs on starting 29 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I'd appreciate any ideas especially as the main agent failed. Once started it runs perfectly and fuel consumption is the same as ever -
Random question - irrational rant time 14 Nov 2011 (Forum)
We keep getting told taxes are implimented to discourage us from doing something. Fuel Duty is to discourage us from using cars, VED is to discourage us from having nice cars, plastic bag tax is threatened to put us off buying plastic bags etc so i have a question... Is income tax designed to discourage people from going to work?
