New trader - private use of stock in trade - mike634949

Hi

New here and cannot find the answer to this anywhere else !

I am newly set up and in the process of marketing my first stock in trade car.

I have had it for a couple of months, and have put some private mileage on the car.

How does this work with HMRC? Should I pay all petrol invoices myself, or should the company (ltd) pay the fuel bills and charge me for the private mileage per mile, (is there a standard rate here?).

Trying not to incur a large personal tax liability for use of a 'company car'. Help appreciated

Mike

Ask an accountant or HM Customs.

You pay for your own fuel nothing to do with the tax man and you can't claim it back either.
