  • Permanently illuminated dash display 3 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Any other vehicle I have ever owned or driven, you know it is time to turn the headlights on when you can no longer see the display. I have taken the decision to run with headlights perpetually on (they are automatically turned off when the ignition is turned off).

  • Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007) - 03 2.2 water leak 21 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Recently have found that there is water leaking into the front footwells, and no apparent or obvious sight of entry. I have heard that it could be something to do with the pollen filter or blocked run off tubes in the sunroof. Does anyone know how these can be easily checked, or if anyone else has had a similar problem, what the solution was. This coupled with a failed turbo, is making me rethink about the delights of the X Trail.
  • Renault - 95 2.5d Master - burning from o/s front 20 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hello all, A quick one hopefully. Burning smell after some moterway running - traced the smell to the aforementioned wheel. Quite a large initial smell, but died down a bit. Brakes not especially hot when we'd stopped - though it did take a few minutes to park and find the affected area.
  • New 09 reg spotting 8 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Now I would have thought they would have had to be on trade plates as it isn't yet 1st March but no trade plates on the first so I did a closer look on second - definitely no trade plates. Or am I mistaken about running an 09 plate before March 1st without trade plates?

  • Mandy to Offer Loans to Car Buyers 29 Jan 2009 (Forum)
What an utterly stupid idea. It's a market economy and people aren't buying cars as often. I run a small business and we are feeling it. When do I get my bail-out? If you want to protect jobs in the motor industry, take VAT off car repairs and servicing and say make MOTs free. That way you are helping the sector, you're incentivising safety and helping the environment by keeping existing cars in decent nick - all of which are key Government targets.

The car has 100k plus and runs well.....I changed it when I bought it with some duckhams semi(Just to be safe)......and car seems ok. Would castrol magnatec be ok? • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 01 1.1 rev counter problem 3 Dec 2008 (Forum)

  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.8d MK4 - Poor MPG 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
The engine is the 1.8 Endura diesel. I'm only getting 44 MPG running around local in a rural area and 47MPG on long journeys doing around 60 - 70 MPH. I have only just bought the car and on the assumption I would get about 50MPG, so I'm a bit disappointed. Is this normal for Fiesta diesels or could any adjustments be made by a garage to make it more fuel efficient.
  • Who is to blame here? 17 Nov 2008 (Forum)
v=ggANNvHttBA&fmt=18 {link made non clickable, also the language used right at the end *may* offfend some people} Who is to blame here? I know that generally if you run into the back of another vehicle then you are to blame, but is that still the case if someone pulls out into a non-existent space in front of you? Thanks for any replies

  • Nissan Primera II (1996 - 1999) - 97 1.6 dip in power around 3750 rpm 20 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I have a petrol primera with 150k miles. It continues to run very well except for a power dip of some sort around 3750 rpm. When accelerating in say 3rd gear, the car will accelerate smoothly up to this point, then the power seems to dip for a split second and then push on again past this point.

  • Help with buying car 29 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I am looking for a car but am on a budget of between £4,000 - 6,000. I would prefer a petrol car but need it to be economical so that I can keep the running costs low if possible. However, because I will be using the car regularly, I am also looking for something reliable. Can you recommend a reliable and economical car that falls into my budget? (However, I would consider recommendations outside my budget).
