  • When's the best time to sell your car? 31 Aug 2006 (Forum)

  • Nissan X Trail-Gone 16 May 2006 (Forum)
My next door neighbours sister-in-law went shopping to Barkingside in Essex a couple of weeks ago, parked and locked/alarmed up her 2 year old X Trail, when she returned the car had gone, and has not been seen since. I thought modern cars were almost as safe as houses, is she unlucky or are Nissans easy to steal? Regards
  • Merc A Class - snapped springs 2 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I discovered yesterday that both rear springs on my Mercedes A Class have snapped. The car is 2000W registered and has covered only 25K miles. I have also discovered that Mercedes have updated the design of the spring because of this problem. Does the panel think it is even worth me trying to claim from Mercedes as the car is well over 5 years old?
  • 2 Key system on 1998 ford ka 7 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I have had my car reprogrammed thanks to the help from this sit. I now have 3 working keys but have had an idea. My old key obviously open the doors but could I reprogramme it to the new code using the process in the manual.
  • Porky Peugeots 25 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Read an article in the paper today about how as cars get bigger it is increasingly hard to park them in standard car park bays. Also saw my first new Peugeot 407 today. Good looking vehicle but its a porker. Seems all new models are bigger than the old ones.
  • Your car says a lot about who you are 13 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Judging by the amount of abuse I regulary get, I'm convinced that when driving around in my red volvo 340, other road users (especially white van man)...

  • Road Tax Exemption 25 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Can anyone here clarify the requirements for a car to be tax exempt. I always believed it was only vehicles built before a certain date (1974 or 1975 ish) that are eligible for road tax exemption. However, someone in work has a car for sale that was built in August 1979 and they claim that as of August 2004 the vehicle will be tax exempt because the rules state that once a vehicle is 25 years old its then eligible.

  • Chrysler Crossfire and Clarkson 27 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Regarding HJ's Top Car report today - the December 03 Crossfire that failed to even reach 20k... Could one comment from Clarkson regarding the dog-squatting rear end really cause this, or is the car, if you excuse the pun, a real dog...?

  • Top Trumps 30 Sep 2002 (Forum)
For some reason (probably because it is Friday afternoon) my mind started wandering and ended up on Top Trumps. It got me thinking that this was what got me first interested in cars. Do they still make Top Trumps (cos as soon as my boy is old enough.....)? My favourite car was the Monteverdi Hai 450 GTS. Always quicker than the Ferraris and Lambos but lost out on weight! Ahh those were the days.
  • Vintage Racing 13 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Vintage Sports Car Club race meeting at Silverstone tomorrow. Should be good if the weather stays dry. If you haven't been to one of these events before, I can't recommend it enough. You might think 'old cars racing - slow and boring' but you'd be very far wrong.
  • headroom 28 Jan 2001 (Forum)
Dear Honest John I am intending to buy a car for my 18 year old son who is 6 feet 4 inches tall but has a long body rather than long legs. He needs extra headroom rather than leg room. We want to get him an automatic rather than manual gearbox and are looking for a car with about a 1200cc engine nearly new any suggestions Yours David Lindsay
  • High TPFT insurance 5 Nov 2000 (Forum)
I own an old Skoda Favorit. My insurance renewal has jumped to 214 pounds for TPFT cover. I have not claimed and feel this is unreasonable for a car worth less than 500 pounds. Is there a specialist insurance company that caters for no frills insurance?
  • BMW 1 Series - Low miler, reasonably new car? Safe enough? 12 Jul 2020 (Forum)
https://www.bigmotoringworld.co.uk/used/cars/bmw/1-series/118i-se-58426 I know the conventional wisdom is to avoid a car with suspiciously low milage. But does that still apply to a car that's only ~ 3 years old? Anything I should keep in mind when viewing the car?
  • Yaris 2003- seatbelts hard to extend over car seats 22 Apr 2019 (Forum)
We have two car seats in the back of the older Yaris (forward facing ones), but have found the car seats do not extend very well to enable the children to buckle the car seats in. I used to have seat belt extensions in my old car, but they don't fit the Yaris, however the main issue is trying to grab the seat belt which tucks itself far back to enable it to be pulled over.
  • Pugeeot 207 cc - Car Registration not listed 22 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Number, YR 10 ZVF, is in correct format:  Yorkshire and 2010 car. Another, S 27 ASD, seems to be in the old format, older than the car, and also is not listed.   Any thoughts?

  • Collective help from forum - Old friend driving dilemma Poor driving, 18 Oct 2017 (Forum)
It is a bit of a story, so bear with me. I have an old friend, old in the sense that he is 73 soon and old friend in the sense that he has been a Good, and kind friend for many years, and generally asks for advice on medical matters from young rovergirl, although she is an Obstetrician/gynaecologist and not a GP.
