Hi Guys n Girls Newbie to the world of mini's here so go easy on me! I am hoping that one of you nice folk will be good enough to lend 5 minutes of your time/knowledge. I've just bought my first ''Dooper'' which I absolutely love. -
MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - Rejecting cherished MINI Cooper S 13 Nov 2008 (Forum)
At the end of August of this year I purchased a Mini Cooper S from my local dealership (I will call it delearship 1), I'm now sick to the teeth of the car due to various problems. Here is an email I sent to "dealership 1" The problems started the first day I bought the car. -

We Are All Getting Bigger! 25 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Whilst I have enough headroom in many classics (e.g. Mk II Zephyr) I struggle with my friend's Mondeo. Same with original Mini vs new Mini. Obesity is avoidable whilst being tall is not! -
Taxing old vehicle for the sake of a few hours.... 28 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I kind of know the answer to this one but hope there is another way. My tax expires on 31/08/2008 but I'm picking up the mini on the 01/09/2008. I really don't want to fork out £125 for the sake of a few hours and get 5 months back worth of tax from the DVLA for the sake of a few hours use on the 1st month! Mini MAIN dealer tells me not to bother and risk it. -
MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - Convertable - I am just about to buy one... 7 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone help me work out the best way to pay for a new Mini Cooper S convertible and how new compares to buying second hand? Dealers PCP? Personal Loan? Leasing? I'm trying to figure out the bottom line cost so I can make a valued decision. A car is going to cost me money so I have been trying to put together a spreadsheet to work out what each option will cost when taking into account all the different variables, interest, depreciation, deposit etc. -
1980 Mini 1000 - Running far too rich 26 May 2005 (Forum)
I am desperately trying to get my 1980 Mini 1000 back on the road and need your help. To cut a long story short, a so called 'friend' offered to fit a 1275 engine, I bought the exhaust system to use with it, but my 'friend' then disappears leaving me with a half completed job - and as it turns out an engine which is completely seized. -
New Mini Monopoly 19 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Just another example of the supposedly free new-car-buying market being 'interpreted' against the private buying customer. I've just committed to a new Mini for SWMBO - no question a high quality car with a comparably high price to match. Negotiating with a Mini dealer left me walking away from my local vendor, who had let me have a car for an hour and spent another hour afterwards talking things through. -
Mini Cooper S - Older Purchase Advice 15 Aug 2022 (Forum)
I have always wanted a Mini as a fun 2nd car - that's all it would be used for, generally at the weekends and enjoying the drive. As such then I don't want to spend the earth on one but wondered if anyone with either experience of them or in the trade (where are you SLO76?) -
Mini Cooper - Blue Smoke from exhaust 10 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Hi My son has just spent £3000 on an 09 plate mini cooper (1.6). It has done around 60k miles. He has noticed that there is a bit of blue smoke coming out of his exhaust when he accelerates. I believe that it is likely to be piston rings or something similar, which ive been told is an expensive fix! -
BMW Mini Cooper S R56 - Headlight issue, Xenon Headlight 21 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Hope " elekie&a/c doctor" is still around giving excellent advice ! I've recently become the owner of a 2007 R56 Cooper S. My third mini and I love it :-) The N/S headlight has a funny quirk. When I switch the headlights on, they both come on and rise to the correct height, as they should do. After a few seconds, the N/S headlight switches off and on a maximum of 3 times a second or so in between and I get a "light alert" come up on the tach and then the flashing headlight stays on and operates perfectly. -
N/A - Taxi/Mini Cab Licences 11 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I thought it might be limited to my area but when I visited Folkstone recentkly I saw three examples of dangerous/inconsiderate driving by taxi/mini cab drivers in just over an hour. Is it not time councils considered tightening up - maybe asking potential drivers to pass the IAM test? -

Why doesn't somebody make a small car? 7 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Why doesn't somebody make a small car? I was watching TV a few weeks back and somebody was test driving a classic mini. He loved the mini and it looked really good. Good ones sell for over £10,000, so why can't somebody make something similar but with modern stuff. Give it modern rust proofing and a modern 1.0l engine would be economical and give reasonable performance. -
